Just going to say the rewards better be pretty outstanding. Doesn't particularly sound appealing.

Reading that you cannot use trusts / alter egos in these boss battles is very disappointing.
Many players probably worked hard at getting "Moogle Mastery" levels to go up, something which only affects alter egos, expecting that all that hard work and effort will pay up in the boss battles.
EDIT: luckily the English description in https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/57650?p=633079&viewfull=1#post633079 is incorrect, you can use alter egos, the moogle in-game also says you can use trusts, and I went in solo and defeated a couple bosses with different trusts and job each time (Moogle mastery 40)

A new animator thats 119 and not SU; and a Katana & Dagger with tanking stats and high -DT% is pretty damn good, imho. Dont forget they are augmentable too.

Apparently Unity Leader Trusts cannot be used at all in the new Odyssey Gaol, they weren't on the list inside the boss room. Was this something that was overlooked?

Greetings Genomeffxi,
Thank you for pointing this out.
You can use alter egos inside Sheol: Gaol; however, once alter egos are called forth, they are removed from the list and cannot be called again until you leave Sheol: Gaol.
We've adjusted the version update details to make this clearer.
As we are prompted to give feedback on this version update I shall, for the first time in almost 18 years, bother to do so. I'll be frank, based on past experience with costumer support I do not have my hopes up.
Let me start by saying that I hope that you are all well and at the same time I'd like to thank you for still coming up with new content that has so much potential, especially so many years after initial release. I thoroughly enjoy the puzzle and tactics on these different NM's caused by job limitations. Hopefully it will also cause people to break away from the meta of over buffed melee WS spam, let alone Naegling and Savage blade even if its just for this content. But that on another note, considering how fast SE fixes balance issues we might well have to wait till the 20 year anniversary for that. Thank you also, for after months, fixing the Sheol: C information. I am one of those people that played with a dedicated set to cap out our Moogle Mastery, despite it being mostly useless so far, and it is very good so be able to see what we've got left to do now. So cheers on that! I also find it exceptionally pleasing that the NM level you defeat has influence on the level of augmentation. I'm hoping that for once, we'll get something again that is worth showing to others. Long has it been that I examined a person and though: "wow, has has that item he must have defeated some difficult foes and must have had a skilled team". Now all I think is: "Ooh he spent x amount of hours farming Abyssea, Einherjar, Nyzul (insert grind gate here)." I am hoping it is different with these rewards, could it please be hard to reach the final augment levels? Please? <3
As for the issues with Gaol:
- We once faced a different NM than what we had selected. Marmorkrebs was waiting for us while we clicked something starting with a G. Sorry, I forgot the name and I do not dare to look back in the chatlog as the game frequently crashes when you do.
- Gaol is so incredibly lag infested that is is unplayable. The lag is so bad that I wonder whether you took the server that runs Dynamis, took out a CPU or two and all its RAM and then made it run Sheol Gaol. This makes really made me disappointed as I really enjoyed the idea you guys doctored out for this content, job and thus strategy wise! Some examples:
-- Inventories can take up to two minutes to load.
-- Jobs at times simply won't change.
-- Moogles and or the Conflux won't load (And you can't run away to force a reload because the area is so small.).
-- Players won't be warped back to the staging area but were warped to the next NM fight, causing them to be on the same job twice. (Which was an issue because we had planned for him to change to a job that could heal ...)
-- After defeating an NM it frequently says "Event skipped.".
-- Sometimes we did not see the NM die (stuck on 1%) and got warped back to the staging area. There was no mention of receiving the KI either but we did as it was in our permanent KIs.
-- Armor models did not change; causing people to play Samurai with Nirvana's model equipped as a weapon during the entire boss fight.
-- We were able to enter without players having bought KI items (Honestly; as bad as that is it was the only thing experience we had doing this.).
The game is so old at this point that by now technology should allow us all to enjoy excellent frame rate, connections and no lag whatsoever. It shouldn't be so hard to at least increase the upload from the server to the players that are left. R3000? Come on, we're all on optic fiber these days. Or at least everyone who lives in the civilized world. Dynamis always lags terribly for everyone but at least there you have the excuse of a usually greater number of players and most certainly a greater number of monsters. It is safe to say that the lag experienced is not due to a bad connection on the part of the player. My point being; you can make the best content in the world but if its unplayable because of the service you offer, it will never be enjoyed by the player base you work so hard for. And I for one, find that an incredible shame because I know you put in a lot of effort, and FFXI, despite its old age, is still an amazing game.
So please, use some of the money of all those multiboxers to fix the Sheol servers, and all of them to be honest, while you are at it :-)

Greetings and Salutations Jmr,
Thank you for submitting this detailed feedback, we've made sure to take note along with other player remarks thus far.
In regards to the list of issues you've encountered within the new Sheol: Gaol we realize how frustrating some of these must have been when trying to participate in the content.
Could we also request that you post the bugs you encountered on our In-game Bug Section (https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/forums/467) of the forums?
It would be most appreciated if you could use this template (https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/35051-Welcome-to-Forum-In-Game-Bugs%21?p=453661&viewfull=1#post453661) when reporting with as much information as possible as it will help us further investigate the issues.
Thanks!

Great Job everybody. Happy New year! I only had one question. Is it possible to do 5 buffalo/beast instead of 10. Competition gets hard sometimes.

Also, I still don't understand how we can have both the Xbox 360 and PS2 versions removed, access to new content and areas (as well as things like teleport crystals and mounts), but can't have updated server speeds lol.

Dropping some feedback here also regarding the newly added Sheol: Gaol in-game content.
As a matter of fact, I was in the same party as Jmr, who gave their detailed feedback earlier on this thread. Here is some supplemental info regarding the issues our party experienced after trying Sheol: Gaol content in the evening of the latest update day.
After gathering our party of 6 people from same linkshell group, majority of us from EU area as far as i know, and entering Sheol: Gaol, all of us, every single party member, experienced severe delay on all actions and loading times. Inventories loaded extremely slow, and could easily take over 5 minutes to load, or not load at all whole run. Pressing any macro, or changing a piece of gear manually led to a 10 second or longer wait before the action actually happened within game. During this period events in-game would simply stand still and update on hopping intervals. Note that this is not merely my personal experience with the event. Quite a number of players, all from different parts of world have reported similar delay in Sheol: Gaol area. What makes this issue odd, is the fact that some players seem to not experience any action delay whatsoever, while for some the "lag" and action delay specific to Sheol: Gaol area makes the event utterly unplayable. Indeed, this delay is entirely specific to Sheol: Gaol area, as outside this area none of us seemed to have any problems with the game. Even during dynamis divergence event, that our linkshell group does twice a week in up to 18 people alliance, there is nowhere near as bad action delay as is on Sheol: Gaol. Clearly there is something specific to this particular event that causes it to be unplayable for some players.
Anyway, despite the content lagging so bad for all of us, we decided to soldier on and attempt to do the content nevertheless. After warping to the first boss enemy, we had extreme difficulties to buff our party due to the delay on all actions. While macro strings themselves worked fine, for me at least, the macros took easily more than 10 seconds to actually fire off and run. During that period there was nothing to do but wait and see whether whatever you did would actually work. This made the content naturally extremely frustrating to do. Despite all these difficulties, we eventually managed to defeat our first gaol boss and were warped back to lobby. Where our party proceeded to change into our secondary jobs in order to tackle the next boss. Several of the party members experienced great difficulties when it came to changing their job successfully. Some would change their job and yet their armors would never properly swap. It looked like person who changed their job from monk to scholar, was still wearing monk weapons and armors on sch! Using the <job> command immediately after changing to another job would display that person to still be on their old job. It took several seconds until the <job> command gave proper results. Like already mentioned, there was huge delay/lag on everything that required a server side update. After managing to defeat the second boss monster, despite all the frustrating difficulties related to this specific event, we were warped back to lobby again in order to change our jobs third time. Except, one of our party members never was... Our samurai had somehow lagged so hard they were left behind when the rest of party got warped to lobby and this was talked about on party chat. Naturally this occurrence caused great confusion as to how we should proceed from there on. Would we be able to warp into third boss area at all since one of our party members was left behind on old boss area, unable to change their job? This same person who was left behind and unable to access lobby was also supposed to be our healer for the third boss. Despite this, we decided to try anyway, intent on attempting to clear 3 bosses in row and to our great surprise, we got warped to the third boss with one party member still on same job that was already used. Needless to say, it was a rough battle. Luckily one of us was on dnc job, so we weren't totally without healing and managed to beat the third boss.
After leaving Sheol: Gaol area, and entering back to Rabao. None of us experienced any lag similar to what we had inside the content. Our party of 6 attempted a couple more runs that evening, hoping the lag/delay specific to this content would settle itself, and that the content would be at least remotely playable, but to no avail.
I have since then tried several runs solo. Just one person and 5 trusts. Trying on my own end to locate the exact issue and possibly offer the other party members some kind of workaround to make the content playable, and every single time the content has similar severe delay on all actions. Everything happens 10 seconds later, or not at all. Despite this not being merely my own experience regarding this content, i have still attempted several basic network related fixes, such as rebooting all my own network devices, using another computer with different and fully updated operating system, playing when the content is less congested etc. No luck. The content remains extremely frustrating to play and proper progression is nigh impossible. Luckily this does not affect the rest of Vana'diel, but it would sure be nice to experience the newly added content on equal standing with other players that don't experience any such delay in Sheol: Gaol content.

Ask Questions for a Special FINAL FANTASY XI Digest Q&A
As mentioned in the video, we’re planning to host a special FINAL FANTASY XI Digest Q&A in January 2021.
If you have any burning questions for the development team regarding FFXI, or even general questions about the team, now is your chance to ask! We’ll forward the questions over to the team and have them answer in this special FFXI Digest.
Submission Deadline
December 17, 2020 at 12:00 a.m. (PST)
17 December 2020 at 8:00 a.m. (GMT)
Submit your questions via the submission page (https://support.na.square-enix.com/ceform.php?id=20&la=1&h=ae1fa72c).
When can we expect to see the Q&A from our submissions last month? There was no mention of it in this month's Digest as previously stated.

i would like to see more ambuscade even if it was a separate battle but one that my crappy unwell geared mules can play, trying to power them up and equip them better but everytime an ambuscade comes out they die with one punch even if friends bring them in.

on slow months like this is it possible to get more seals in the ambuscade rewards? 300pts for a 10-20 min fight not counting the ki is kinda low, so it would be nice to have some bonuses.

Another month with absolutely no action on automation, crafting hacks, and egregious cheating. I was able to tolerate it until recently, but it's got so bad now that the game just isn't fun for me any longer. Nothing I can do is unaffected.
I stopped playing about 6 months ago and maintained my subscription in the hope things would change. They haven't. I really love this game and I want to play with my linkshell friends, but the lack of rules enforcement is ruining it for me. I guess I'll check back on the forums every now and again to see if things are improving, but for now, you've lost a customer. For what it's worth, I was subscribed for 12 years, with only a single 4 month break.

I just wanted to bring your attention to: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/rule/specialtask.html
Maybe they are not doing enough, but they are doing something. I frequently see the people that are automating, craft hacking, and egregiously cheating disappear about a month after reporting or very visible cheating. However, I don't know how many people report on smaller servers such as Phoenix.

to be honest what bothers me is the people that bot the auction house for 15 years and change the price so much that noone else can sell or buy anything right. but i have reported them over 50x in 11 years and they are still there with 10-20-30 more mules botting the ah still.

Greetings and salutations adventurers!
Thank you for continuing to provide feedback on the January version update. :)
Regarding the Q&A submissions from December:
When can we expect to see the Q&A from our submissions last month? There was no mention of it in this month's Digest as previously stated.
We wanted to relay that the special Q&A Digest that had been planned to be released this month has been delayed due to the current COVID situation taking place in Japan right now.
We're hoping to be able to get this information out to you all in February, however we will keep you posted should that change!
Thank you for understanding.

Hello I'd like some clarification on the below devs post.
As players have assumed that to mean that mog bonanaza items may drop from the MacroCosmic Orb Campaigns. Some players have attested to obtaining Cats eye's and Dense Clusters from said Battlefields during the past campaign reruns. Are these items still obtainable in the current and future returns of the Macrocosmic orb campaigns?

To be honest, the Nomad~Mog Bonanza website said that we were supposed to receive a 'Bonanza "Cookie"~>not a Biscuit for the loss on those times of the month's campaign it has run instead of the lower cost bonanza campaigns biscuit, biscuits are being amongst the bread category where I am from which can be a harder form that can relate to I guess a cupcake in regards to hardened and more flattened even at times putting a slice into them opening it slightly to spread better on inside were splitted~slice was inserted by a knife to eat or to heat it up to melt the spreaded butter inside of the biscuits or um.. well anyways, biscuits arent cookies where I live, just saying though...
I just wanted to bring your attention to: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/rule/specialtask.html

Well... when they do this they don't just do it for one server but for all servers at the same time in my experience when it's reported even if said for one server, Also my experience as a crafter - crafters have it hard enough as it is into getting items to be HQ'ed then something comes along like this or someone says something about it to put a stop to it even for vanilla players having a very-hard-core time HQ'ing crafting items as it is all ready being very low if at all so someone coming saying something anything about what they thinking is craft hacking-etc basically for SE's trials to fix on a mention of it puts into the stopping of HQ'ing for everyone not just what your thinking is going to happen for the fix or crafts being done thus it ruins the experience for normal players and non-normal players across te spectrum altogether, Just saying though even of that wasn't your intentions in the bringing to forth. Yes, I truly probably the last full-on~full vanilla player in this ffxi game while all using all kinds of outside tools in software or other-forms to play this game whether it's just even graphical enhancements or not connections enhancements~etc.
to be honest what bothers me is the people that bot the auction house for 15 years and change the price so much that noone else can sell or buy anything right. but I have reported them over 50x in 11 years and they are still there with 10-20-30 more mules botting the ah still.
I'd like to hear what ways your thoughts tend to think they're botting on the ah?
Is it because a person with two characters can ah an item to themselves of the alt. character by purchasing that item they just put up on the AH by that other char. very lower Gil then AH history states current prices clear down to even one Gil as your thoughts tend to drift about it into that direction even can do the same with one character put up an item disregarding the AH price then rebuying it back with the same character for as minimum as one Gil after you refresh the AH if you were looking at that item's category before to purchase it one same char. OR would it be something else that has you thinking in that way of the AH being a botted thing? I'd be cooly surprised if they found a way the locked of 7 items only on the ah that everyone keeps wanting to be upted several times over the years of its being mention more so if they found a way to up the amount able to put up on the ah without the AH being affected by it as well. Anyways details I am asking on why or what your thoughts as to it being the cause of it into you feeling AH is being botted?
