View Full Version : If we offer suggestions in ways to update older content, could it be updated?

One of the strengths of FFXI is the wealth of content, the sheer amount of things to do.
The problem is most of these things never get any tweaks or additions. I know the developers have strict roadmaps, but is there a chance if we offer good suggestions that these things could be updated?
Mog Gardens, Monstrosity, Adventuring Fellow, Chocobo Racing, PVP etc
I'm not talking about major additions, I'm talking about tweeks or additions that would take fairly minor amounts of work.
For example, increasing the level of adventuring fellow to 119 and allowing them to be out full time and not for an hour or two. simple change, major boost to people who like it.
Adding some rare and expensive items to mog gardening rewards, heavy metals etc. This would make it worth doing again.
Add capacity rewards for doing chocobo racing.
Adding a few more cheers.
Adding new monsters to monstrosity/
Is there any chance of these kinds of things being updated? If we knew there was a possibility we could possibly come up with some well thought out and cheap updates to make it easier to update.

Not a dev, but maybe.........My thing is SE lost so much money with that Avengers game, they may want to keep the budget a little tight. However, FFXI was a goldmine not long ago.
One thing FFXI and XIV does well is recycle content.. MMOss are a psychology, as much as a business. The reason people stopped playing MON, is because it was not updated. So, people feel the devs see it as not worth their time to invest in.....So players feel it is not worth their time to invest in. Same for XI. It stopped receiving major updates, so people left.....
If XI did receive addons, people will come back. They are in kind of a bind imo. With the cancellation of Mobile, maybe XI gets revived? Who knows....

Well I'm not going to hold my breath but as alluded in that other thread, I would do anything to get monstrosity to be expanded.

If FFXI could create its own Mog Station Store (optional items actually) and an item can be sent to your delivery box after you purchase then SE could see any benefits from FFXI.
People outside this official forum have been asking for a remake/remaster of FFXI and they won't even stop asking. Even if FFXI uses the same engine that FFXIV has then both would share the same resources and that would be much cheaper for SE to develop after FFXIV copied a lot of FFXI content.

The problem with people asking for a remaster or remake, is you only see it with your rose tinted glasses on.
You think you'll get all the things you love, with more things you'll love. While in reality they would probably ruin the entire game in the process.
Blizzard fans stopped asking for remakes and remasters after Warcraft 3.

How could that be any problem? FFXI's engine is old that would never run on any newer console. Just wait until we become old and dead then SE can able to shutdown it and the entire FFXI could be forgotten.
For years, random people have asked many times for a remake of FF7 and a remaster of FF8. They said it would never happen. Guess what? It happened! But you never know. :)
Edit: Pixela seems always has an issue for whatever reason. I am in a proactive family linkshell.

Maybe you should cease forcing your glasses on others. A lot of remastered games have been successful and appraised. FFVII Remake almost made game of the year and won many awards.
Demon Souls is also pretty successfully. Age of Empires 2 Remastered brought the game out of ashes. Command and Conquer Remaster also is pretty well received.
You really should stop being full of yourself. XI deserves better then being time locked in a Stone Age and anyone with a minimal of litteral common sense would see this.
Mobile Rumours were more popular the the current game state. This is a prime example, the game bear in mind as a fantastic experience to many but it doesn't appeal to any particular audience besides those who are addicted to 11 and accept putting up with all the bad sides.
So for someone who balantly admitted you rely on RMTs in another thread to be able to play XI, you should keep to yourself, instead being a fool and daring lecturing others.

This is, I think, a very good example of "ruining it" if they did the same with XI (for some like me at least; I'm sure there are people (and reviewers) who'd like a whole different kind of a game more though).
To me, FFVIIR is a modern action RPG with a bunch of references to FFVII.
If they did move XI to a different engine, it would be very easy to make it feel too different in ways, but with proper care, it could be done well (that is, I'm certainly not against a remake of FFXI, but there are things I'd be worried about).
Plenty of things can still be improved without going that far as well, though I do understand the hesitation there probably looms over any such decisions.

FF7 is a primary example of a game being remade and not being faithful to the original, it was not made for the people that loved it original it was made for a new audience (action combat over turn based). The reason I don't think a FFXI remake would be a good idea is because they would turn it into WOW, because that's what the kids want from an mmo.
Regardless that's not what the thread is even about.

Odd enough, FFXI is the last Final Fantasy that needs to be reworked and ported to a modern console (you can play FFXIV on PS5 via backwards compatibility (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/a683c39dad71a9ea05f5406d7e21b63e6700539e)). I don't know why but there people out there really prefer their console instead of PC. If SE can remaster FFX and FFXII with the same gameplay experience then maybe they can do FFXI.

They could, but it all comes down to the charts people that point at what the charts say and all that. :]
Of course the smaller changes, per the topic at hand here, need to go through the charts people as well. I imagine at least until the big anniversary things have been mostly decided, not to mention there are the new missions and all that to work on as well, so I imagine all this depends on the money they will get after.
Well, tiny adjustments here and there until the anniversary should be doable still.

You're pretty wrong my guy. FF7R has the option to play Turn Base just like in classic. It's not limited to control the character to fight.

No it is quite faithful and even enriched. You're belief are not the actuality, personal vendetta has no room here. It's a great game the met a lot of demands and pleases the demand. It ain't done and that is fine, even 15 had episodic content.

You don't understand what faithful means. The Demon Souls remake is faithful to the original, FF7 remake is not at all. Just because you like what they made it does not mean it's faithful to the original and didn't alienate lots of people. You know why I didn't buy the FF7 remake? Because it wasn't a turn based game and I liked it being a turn based game, it also messed with the story.
Not like it matters, they will not remake or remaster FFXI. Because it would be direct competition for FFXIV, why would any company make that same mistake again?

lol @those comments
"On a selfish note, as someone who never played FFXI or DQX, I want SE to end them both and make a new MMORPG while still continuing FFXIV. It doesn't have to be another Final Fantasy game, could be another IP or a new one altogether (or it could be another FF too). But I want less technology/more ancient fantasy setting.
I play MMORPG for the story, so if the combat is as easy to get into as FFXIV and the same/similar QoL features are there, another one would be great to have."

Really funny seeing how things end up going down the same path. People prideful and with stars in their eyes for their MMOs future. I hope SE doesn't abandon them like they did XI, maybe they wont be wishing other games die when the new FF18 comes out and its an MMO and SE repeats their mistake.

I only have consoles for their exclusives. I have a decent enough PC to play any modern game I actually care about, and most platform exclusives these days are temporary except for first-party IPs. Because so much of what I would want to play on a console comes to PC, I only own a Switch and not a PS# or xbox# because Nintendo has far more 100% exclusives than the others.

Nice! PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii were the last consoles I owned as I moved to the PC. Now I only have a gaming Desktop and Laptop. Funny is I am a huge fan of FF7. When I bought a PS3, SE brought FF7 to the PSN store. I bought it then more Final Fantasy games came also. Then after I built my first gaming PC, SE brought FF7 to steam. I bought it again and more Final Fantasy games also. It's like SE knew where I am going! Now my PC has too many games I haven't finished so I don't have time for any new console. :(
FFXI and FFXIV could be why I didn't finish my half library of games. You are right, there is no reason to own a PS# and Xbox# as they are basically a PC. lol
My family has a Switch, someday I play Mario party and other games with my nieces.

It's so annoying to me that the developer refuse to even offer simple small updates to older content, even updating the things that can drop from gardening or something or increasing adventuring fellow level.
I guess it's a JP developer thing.

A developer's career is not McDonald's. They don't need customers to come every day to complain that they have served them a nothing burger. Enjoy the age of the engine it hasn't changed a bit since it came out and you have a very very very strong nostalgia.
Meanwhile FFXIV is getting a big update every few months, I am happy the FFXI team is working on the new story.

Think I would agree with OP to revive old content. I mean... look at what FF14 did. They kept reviving old content so people kept coming back doing them. As of latest in FF14 with their latest relic grind, they even gave optional task aside from grinding inside Bozja, players can opt to farm from FATEs on the old 3.0 zones which has 100% chance of dropping required items as opposed to Bozja's RNG drop. So many content in FF14 being reused & recycled, I believe FF11 could easily get this treatment as well. ;)

Trial of the Magians, I'd like to see updated as it would make Elemental Stones worth something again instead of just Vendor trash , being allowed to take your weapons to a tier below Ambuscade Weapons (and with the elemental Bonuses / buffs would make them useful in certain Situations)
Monstrosity, I'd like to see more monster types and the ability to make a monster / player party. (Maybe not for certain Endgame content because of balance reasons) Have Beastmasters be able to buff player Monsters etc
VW or Abyssea will probably be the way they buff upgraded Empyrean to +2 & +3 or they might do it as Dynamis D Valkurm Dunes / Qufm Island / Bubu Penn / Tavnazia

Another thing they Could do something with the Promyvions, like Promyvion-Mea (D). Make it into a different type of Dynamis Event where you have to defeat mini bosses on Each floor while evading patrols. Have the Spire be a recuperation point before the main boss battle. New Weapons / Shields, use the drops to upgrade them into something usable, or even be able to upgrade Magian weapons to 119+. Think it could be worth looking into as the area is fairly useless after CoP is done

What is there was a item called; "Earring of the Quadav" with +30% WS DMG you can only get from reaching lvl 99 on Quadav in Monstrosity?
What if lvling the Wyvern MON to 99 gave DRGs a ring which made their Wyvern stronger, and evolve on a timer similar to exp rings?
What if there was a Campaign medal that granted you an +100% CP and EXP bonus so long as you kept doing campaign to keep it?
What if doing ballista gave you an insane stat buff for 8 hours after the match? And reward currency that can be used to buy some of the coolest looking lock-styles in the game?
These are simple things, the team could do to keep the older stuff relevant, for a long time. Maybe as long as the game is up. You may want that Quadav earring on your alt, or help your new friend get their campaign medal.
They don't have to be any of the stuff I mentioned. My point was, awesome rewards will force people to sit around their monitor for 24 hours for some monster to pop........(Old school fo0lks know what I mean)
It gives people incentive to actually do the content the devs created. Poor rewards give them ZERO incentive to do it. Monstrosity is fun, but there is ZERO incentive to do it......And this is coming from me...
Does anyone actually enjoy making a mythic? Maybe not, but the reward is worth it. Salvage is some of the worst content imo, but I still do it lol.......
Release the families that are blanked out; tie awesome rewards to it.....100% guarantee, everyone will be running around as a Mandy, Lizard, or Rabbit as soon as servers go live to unlock families tied to powerful gear rewards for their character.
