View Full Version : Crafting Hack & Bots

SE, please take action. There has to be another crafting exploit/hack within the RMT. They are undercutting each other.. and as a regular player, you can't bother to craft anything worthwhile because I don't have the luxury to spend 90mils~ in mats when the selling price of those items are being sold for 90mil or less! The prices of Su5s and +2 necks keep dropping since they are not losing any materials with this cheats. You need to crack down the RMT crafters who are selling on alts or mules or fix this exploit yet again.
Why FFXI, a game so old, is still being lucrative for RMT. Asura is bombarded by CPbot yells 24/7. Blacklisting them is not the solution, you should see who those bots are in CP areas like Dho Gates, Ra'kaznar, and other Adoulin areas and get rid of those bots please. Do your part if you love this game and stop buying CP and Gil.
We continue to fall so low. A new PC named Odoro, a scammer in Port Jeuno is sitting right on top of the NPC Oboro and taking players items by initiating 'trade' to other players. What is wrong with some of you.

What an absolute legend.
Make your own thread praising it. Who knows, maybe it came from a dead server like Leviathan that peaks at 300 at most. Why stay on a dead server when Asura has 3k+ pop. A lot of the harm being done to Asura is coming from server transfers.

... a dead server like Leviathan ...
I don't feel like I'm in a dead server.
I feel like I'm in beautiful Vana'diel, having fun and exciting adventures with my friends.
On topic, though, I agree that the best way to diminish the presence of the RMT/Mercs/Botters is to never use any of their services, zero tolerance mode.
And to encourage new players to actually play the game by the game's rules, to make friends, to team up, to overcome difficult challenges by working hard, etc.
And to understand that NPCs don't initiate trades.

Because those dead servers don't have RMT, an overabundance of mercs and scammers, and have plenty of available camp spots for CP etc. and yada yada yada all the many reasons not to choose an overcrowded server.

There's a clear difference between trades with an NPC (which only show one item window) and those with players, so I really hope nobody is falling for this.

He's wearing the same gear, is /anon so his name is blue (closer to NPC green) and he stands directly on top of Oboro, making it hard to target the NPC. If he's auto-accepting trades, I could see how someone who wasn't paying attention could make a mistake.

That's the problem, hoards of players on Asura do use their 'services'. Hence why they are there and are dominating the area, and why people have difficulty making legit CP parties. In todays society, people will take the easy option if it is offered to them. Legit or not.
I have /blisted as many as I can, however when you zone, it takes a couple of seconds for the /blist to 'load'. In the brief 1 second I zoned, there were 8 JP/EXP selling yells that I had blocked. That's how rapid it is on /yell.

Well, they are. They have taken some expensive items from people. Regardless of players being more vigilant or not, they are clearly trying to defraud players. Firstly by using automation to initiate trade, and secondly they
literally bury themselves into the NPC, so other than the name at the top, you can't really see them.

The smaller servers are not dead, they have people on them that like a small community. You just don't understand that because you have a different mindset.
I prefer Asura, I like lots of people. However i understand how others think too.

My apologies, poor choice of words on my end for I didn't mean it in that context. What I meant to say is that the scammer in question could have migrated from a smaller populated server... hence why would they stay there, when there is a broader clientele on Asura with lots of returnees etc etc. With that being said, please use F8 to avoid any risk of trading to that individual.
I don't want the market to myself either, but I am almost certain I speak for many crafters on my previous statement. I understand RMT will always be involved in most online games without a doubt. My only issue is the exploit being used... I can compete with RMT crafters, but I don't wish to use tools that will facilitate those outcomes. Craft like the rest of us, you're only hurting the economy because the prices are not what they should be.
Just because this game is a business to some of you, does not give you the right to ruin it for others. Aren't you already doing enough by plaguing CP camps / Selling Gear/Conent / and killing the economy. One can even argue those cheap prices are a good thing because more people can afford them but there needs to be a balance to maintain a healthy economy. When you buy gil to purchase something exclusive @AH you are giving the gil right back to the RMT. I wish SE would get more involved on the bots shouting 24/7 and their associates @ the camps. What's happening right now is the result of people doing whatever they want because there is little repercussions being enforced on SE's end.

True. A Linkshell with 6 active people in it doing regular content is better than a Linkshell with 50 people in it who don't even talk let alone do content (I've seen a fair few of them).

My fear of them reaching into other areas such as Abyssea and botting/dominating the spawn NM's and selling items is becoming a reality.
This is the result of an amount of players using 'services' be it mercing or power levelling. The bots wouldn't be around otherwise, and they probably 'learned' their tricks from the mercs in the first place.

I didn't realise how much quite how much the omnipresence of TOS violations was annoying me until I stopped playing - and I was pretty vocal about it even before I reached that point. I'm becoming increasingly convinced that it's just not worth playing with the current lack of enforcement. It's just hard to take that final step and cancel, you know? Hope springs eternal and all that.

But yeah, on a more serious note, that's pretty low. We've had those scammers on Fenrir, too, who sell singles for stack prices (or something like that), but I haven't seen this one before.

Well apparently people need to be made aware to check before doing trades. If you see two item windows, you're trading with a player, not an NPC. do yell and shout campaigns. flood the help desk with reports.

Not on the Asura cesspool, but keep in mind if he's starting trades with people, the trade option on the main menu will accept a player trade over starting a NPC trade.
Odoro offers to trade with you.
You target Oboro correctly, open main menu, and hit trade.
Trade opens with Odoro, not Oboro, because you have a pending trade offer.
I can see how people can easily make that mistake, especially if trading tired. It seems like it should be a slam dunk for a ban, though.

The problem on Asura is that there are around 30-40 characters there with bazaars selling items, so often you're waiting for Oboro to pop. Thats what is unique about Asura, it pops and people quickly tab and trade. They don't have time to evaluate as they run up.
The other problem is, people just don't expect someone to be doing this. It's kind of like going to the store and buying an apple and eating it, then you get sick because there was filth on the apple. The shop can say "well you should of washed it" and they would be correct but people don't expect it to be dirty, with forwarning sure they will but it's not something you think you have to do.
This can happen on any server (it's just less likely on other servers because there aren't 30 alts there and so oboro insta loads). EVery server I've seen has people selling single items in bazaars for stack prices.

It is appalling the lack of response from STF, Moderators and GMs.They should have banned that person by now. I hope I am wrong and something will get addressed from this thread including an investigation to source out those using the craft exploit.. please take the time to clean up the game a little.. too many CP bots and RMT taking over. SE is long overdue to apply tougher measures against those causing disruptions in the game.

If you're on that server you need to make sure people know that. Yes, he can make it hard to trade with the NPC but people shouldn't even put any items into a trade window that clearly isn't an NPC trade window.

And frankly, I think if anyone is refusing to accept that Asura is actually overpopulated, the fact that essential NPCs don't always load in when you go to visit them should be a clue.

Well I tried to fill it with junk, but it might be scripted as far as to dispose of unwanted items so they do not run out of inventory space.
Kept a trade open with it for a while to keep it "busy", but there's places to do, things to be, and all that.

Just how we like it.
Odoro needs to be banned, this player is impersonating an NPC that takes currency and items, equipment of high value!
Even the name shows the intent to impersonate, using the closest likeness/typo to fool unaware players in to handing over their valuables. While making the Character look the same, and placing it actually on top of the NPC.

Here's the main problem, and it is totally the players' faults: They are too impatient nowadays for "I need to have everything I want NOW and I shouldn't have to wait 2~3 seconds anymore!!" attitudes... Their own fault that they do not read the screen and verify before hitting [enter] after spending a lot longer acquiring the items.
These are the same people that will call a GM if they overpay on a bazaar or in the AH on an item (i.e. hit 10,000,000 instead of 100,000 thinking it was stack and not single, etc...) when that again is totally their own faults'. If they slowed down, read the screen, and learn how to hit [NO]/[Cancel] then there would be zero problems and the Odoro guy would be a waste of that person's money.

If you're willing to farm some materials you can still make gil in the game. That's if you care about gil, eventually you get to a point you have more than enough gil to last the lifetime of the game.

One interesting thing people can do to deal with this is to /trade Odoro stacks of dung and other non-expensive materials until their inventory is full (hopefully with stacks of dung). :)

Yeah, I traded a lot of different items so as to avoid auto-stacking issues, and it clearly slowed down after a while, during which it was probably dropping unwanted things.
