View Full Version : Se Charging in the middle of April?

Hello.
This morning I tried to log onto ffxi only to be greeted with a LM-21 code stating that I had to pay fees on my account. The same was true with my husband and a couple of friends.
I have been able to play for the month of April until this point. Since when does SE charge in the middle of the month? I find this very odd. Is there something strange going on with the billing system again? I didn't see any notices regarding billing maintenance, and when I called customer support they of course can never help me and keep giving me a non-helpful answer. (More or lesss stating, "I don't know whats going on, ask your bank.")
These billing issues are getting seriously irritating. For such a great game, I really wish SE would step up their customer support regarding accounts. This by far is some of the worst customer service I have received over the past years, and the only reason I keep playing is because of all the friendhips I have formed and I think its such a wonderful game.

I was under the impression that we were not being charged for April at all due to the shutdown of the servers?

Yah imagine my surprise when I tried to log in this morning and saw that sitting there. Billing on April 18th? Something doesn't add up here... Not once have I seen this in my gaming life with SE.... and I have been playing since the beta.

same here i got on today and they are sayhing i cant get on for a charge? what happened to our free month? i paid for last month and was susposed to get this month free. what is going on??

Square are well known for pulling fast ones with account payments, they double charge, overcharge etc and have been for a long time. If you take action with your bank they will ban your account lol
I guess the idea is that if they do this shadey stuff to 100 people and only 50 notice or complain they get the extra money from those 50. You really have to keep a close eye on the payments they take with Square sadly.

Yeah, same here - got billed through for this month but my acct is active at least but dont like being lied to that we r getting waived for this month.

Were any of you hit in the first wave of difficulties?
Also, Square Enix, please tell us how you feel about all these accusations about being 'shady'. I think we'd all like a detailed explanation as to why such incidents occur so frequently, and ways to compensate for people's money.

my card statement dont show for a couple days afterwards but havent sen no notice as of yet will be watching now though

Btw, it was also mentioned it would be waived given certain circumstances, if you reactivated IN April, I don't think you get the fee waived.
[Important Notes]
* Only customers who paid subscription fees for March 2011 are eligible. Customers registering new accounts or reactivating accounts in April are not eligible.
* Fees for any additional Content IDs purchased from April 1, 2011 onwards will not be waived.
* Any charges aside from monthly subscription and additional Content ID fees (e.g., expansion purchases, etc.) will not be waived.
* Customers who closed their accounts during March will be eligible. However, you must reactivate your account before the end of April; since subscription fees are only being waived for the month of April, we recommend you reactivate early in order to reap the full benefits of this offer.
So there's a good chance it was merely march's payment, especially if all the above was followed, with the issues/downtime of the reg server it's likely it got delayed for some.

I was de-activated as well, and the shit earlier this month hit me too. None of that stuff up there applies to me. I pre-pay my card, so I know it's paid. My husband's account is just fine. We use the same card and everything.

yes i have two accounts on my card. one is my sons and one is mine. the first go around they closed my sons account and i had to pay 13 bucks to get it back.. now in the middle of this month they hit my account and closed it due to payment. now both acvcounts were paid for in march when it went down due to the quake and we were promised a free month this month. yet i am charged for it. umm se i ha ve played this game since it came out in NA andi have put alot of cash into your pockets and this is how i am treated?? it is very sad and i am not a very happy player.

update.. just checked my account and found they just charged my card a bucki.. now i know it is only a buck but still why the heck aere yo ucharging me for anything when yo ucut off my account?

Verification if you reactivated, it has to make sure the card is valid and does indeed have funds. Typical practice of any service that requires a cc/bank account upon setup/activation.

yes i understand that and it is fine if they are just checking. but to charge me when they said they wouldnt is another matter all together.

and worse yet to see all thse post on it and not say anything is piss poor as well. at elast say we know something is worng and we are looking into it would go along way in curbing players anger at this.

Seems to me like its mainly those of us who got screwed in the begininng of the month and had to reactivate our accounts after days of not being able to now we are all being billed in the middle of the month

This is the fifth month in a row I've had my service shut off. Every time I've called, and followed the steps they told me to take. I even switched cards to make sure that wasn't the problem. The situation persisting in this manner is becoming highly annoying.

to mod jhananka ive tried talking to customer service and was cut off the three times i tried. the first time the guy didnt even answer my question just hung up on me. the second and third time they told me that it was for dues for march. well i payed in march and feb and jan. they told me that what i paid in feb was for jan march for feb and this is for march and may will be charged at the start of may now let me ask u cuz i am confused on a couple things. first off why would they charge for jan in feb and feb in march and march in april, but then start charging for may in may, this doesnt make sense. why the sudden change. secondly this seems to be a issue a lot of ppl are having why is this? theres just a lot thats happening this month that make absolutly no senese. can u please clearify this for us. when i talk to customer support they said that this was an issue that just started showing up out of no where but to pay it and they will investigate. does this mean they will not charge me in may since april is supposed to be free and i payed for march in march?
