This is a question that has been on my mind for years now:

How does status resistance gear work exactly, and is all status resistance gear made equal? Since some gear (augmented) has +'s on it that dictate the power of resistance on the gear, what about gear that does not have this notation?

How much exactly does a "Snow Ring" help someone resist silence over a "Garrulous Ring". Does a Corselet help one resist silence better than the flawless ribbon? How much does the Flawless ribbon help in regards to "Resisting all Status Ailments".

1. Is the status resist on the flawless ribbon superior to every other piece of gear in the game?

2. Are all pieces of gear with the same 'resist' on them equal. I'd assume not and that higher level gear = better effect.

Magic Evasion:

What is this? Is this basically saying you get a +1 to every element for every single point of magic evasion?

Even if you don't feel like telling us in depth mechanics like Magic eva., I think it at least makes sense to clear up how powerful other status resistance gear is since some pieces are now coming into play with actual notation for their strength.

level correlation is a big part, I am not sure if INT plays to defend silence, may be mind. I heard strange things with enfeebling magic like blind is int vs mnd.

boils down to this:
resist traits/ bars.
bar element
level difference
stats ( int/ mnd)
magic skill set of user ( no idea how this plays on mob on you though)

I cannot answer your specifics though it is like asking what is your range attack or range accuracy
