View Full Version : Dynamis(D) LAG
Hello,
I dont know how the rest of the world is but all EU based players i know suffer extreeeeem lag durring Dynamis.
Sometimes issues happen like, Gear is not changing, Monster and Players are often „warping„ all around instead of moving because of lag.
Sometimes Statues are not poping in time so that you can run in to them and get aggro.
Chatlog enteries missing, this is annoying if your debuffing NM‘s.
Weaponskills or JA‘s taking up to 4sec to be used or occasionaly not going off at all.
The same goes for casting.
Dynamis (D) is the best, most challanging and fun content for larger groups but this extrem Lag is making everyone frustrated.
I also have friends who stoped to play FFXI because of this.
I think, most if not all players face those lag issues and everyone concerned would be happy if you could look in to this an fix Dynamis.
Thank you.

Yes, it's getting really annoying, every action I try to do takes about 5 seconds to start, this can be particullary stressful when you're playing jobs like BRD that have limited time for putting all buffs up, and it takes almost an entire minute to set up 5 songs in the party due to this response time.

Is this region based or the same for everybody?

Dynamis is very laggy in the US as well. Most of us have 2~+ accounts and proly pay over 400 dollars a year. I really wish they would find a way to alleviate it.

I'm fairly sure i've heard of JP users complaining about it as well.
Hey, also here is middle east. Dyna lag made me stop playing some of my jobs since u cant do a single thing. ppl warping around some ability/casting go off w/o my char moving always end up in wrong gears, take me around 4~7 sec to engage. i wish SE do something to this.

Heya,
Completley agree with Rada, the lag can get so bad, that it takes all the fun out of Dyna.
If theres any options to improve the current situation, please use them.
Thank You

Is it just me or my 2005 HP Pavilion Windows Vista computer, but I am having near zero lag in Dyna [D] and runs extremely smoothly, with the exception of a slower entry screen than everyone else when we go in? I am using vanilla normal non-supplemented POL, no 3rd party programs or add-ons, only the ingame windowed mode so i can open my browser and still bounce between them with a mouse click to go online, and high resolution and frame rate on NVIDIA graphics card. Is my older system working better than the newer Windows 7/10 for this, or am I just lucky and should count my pennies now? lol

Quetzalcoatl isn't (or wasn't last time I fought it), since i have all other peoples' trusts turned off except my own.
I haven't even tried Mireu yet, but I'll update you after I do go to it.

More than likely because Win 10 has been a pain in my [censored] since I've 'upgraded'.

Yes, Dynamis (D) lag is awful. They need to fix it.

I don't know about Dynamis, but I've noticed some in Odyssey.
Tbh its a cheek they are selling us such broken content...
Its like selling a car w/o tires... Everytime in Dyna i feel so kidded by SE.
If their game / servers or w/e are not able to run the content playable, such content shouldnt even be released... Its only frustrating.
Same for Domain invasion... So man ppl are comlaining that the Dragon isnt even poping on their screen so their are not even able to engage.
The absolute minimum would be to give their customers an explaination.
Omen can be laggy as well in some situations. ( i care less about Omen b/c its onlly on the floors and not on the bosses for me ) But still... its broken

I have the same problem, the lag is just insane, I need to press buttons 3/4 times to activate abilities or cast songs. I play BRD most of the time and doing songs is painful, most of the time when I do brd rotation I can't do 5 songs on the second party because JAs runs out.
I don't know if there is a way to fix this lag but if you can do something I will appreciate it.

So I just bought a brand new $2,000 computer. Honestly the lag in dynamis is even worse than on my old gaming computer. It's really only when we're engaged with mobs. Sometimes I got a full 2-3 seconds before it shows a new frame. Is there anything I can do to improve this? It's SERIOUSLY debilitating.

I believe the lag being discussed here is the latency between executing actions and them actually going off, while what you describe seems to be about graphical lag (very low FPS). Is that what you're experiencing?
If yes, first thing I'd try is turn down the shadows if they're set to 'high'. I've not played using Windows myself since 2010, so I'm not entirely sure how things are there nowadays, but I think that setting has always been one of the major FPS killers.
I've seen lots of talk with older games, including FFXI, running worse on newer Windows set-ups, but haven't confirmed it myself.

I went and tried Mireu after someone commented slyly asking about how my lag was with that and I see I have a little lag (about same i have with other domain invasions), but nothing worth noting. My response times to macro keys is right on, and every once in a while i get that ½second lag, and some players do fade out then back, but targeting and fighting is not a problem.
Helpful tips: turn off or reduce shadows. Turn off all other player's trusts. And go to config menu and turn off how players blink when they gear change. (Don't remember where this is but go find it and explore your menus). All these help a LOT!

I wanted to add that windows 10 puts a huge demand on your computer compared to 7 or vista. I tried running around Jueno on a brand new 4gig windows 10 computer the other day, and it was lagging so bad I could skip the steps between the AH and the orbs npc. I was unhappy took it back and got a 8 gig computer and realized that when i opened task manager it was using almost all 4 gigs of memory without anything open. When running XI it would lag in areas expressed above. I took it back again (bestbuy knows my name at this point) I swapped for a big beefy 16 gig with a huge graphics card, then I only experienced lag in Dyna D. However, I had all settings capped. I recommend if your experiencing a lot of lag in game, go to your Square Enix folder, FFXI, ToolsUS(or EU) and then open the config. Go in and customize it to lower settings, then in game turn off other trust, shadows weather effects, character models displayed footstep effects and anything else from the misc settings you can. I hope this helps you, I know it seems like a bummer to turn down settings but honestly it doesn't seem to reduce quality that much. Good Luck everyone!

I wanted to add that windows 10 puts a huge demand on your computer compared to 7 or vista.
The reason for that is Windows 10 decides to run all kinds of activities in the background, as opposed to Windows 7 (which you had more control over).

I wanted to add that windows 10 puts a huge demand on your computer compared to 7 or vista.FFXI is so dated that this is mostly irrelevant. There is no difference in the game for me compared to when i was on win 7.
Also, modern PCs have more resources, which means the operating system can do more things and give off the same kind of performance. Many CPUs available today have 16, 32 or even 64 thread multitasking, so running lots of background processes has basically zero impact on one running foreground application.
Further, far as I can tell this isn't a clientside problem.
"Final Fantasy XI Interview with Yoji Fujito and Akihiko Matsui
Has your development team discovered any ways to reduce server lag and congestion during high-population events, such as Dynamis Divergence zones?
Akihiko Matsui: At the moment, it's very difficult for us to make any more adjustments in that direction. We unfortunately cannot remedy issues with model rendering unless we were to adjust config settings.
Yoji Fujito: There will always be some amount of lag when it comes to content with a large number of players. We try to design new content (not updated or revamped content) to minimize lag-related issues, As the underlying systems are all premised on PS2 specifications, it isn't feasible for us to make adjustments to those systems (for example, revising the model rendering system itself or changing the way data its sent to and received from the server.)"
So that's what we get...
After all its like i said from the start.
Their content is broken (except for the trolls, those not switching gear, or apparently using PC's with Win XP or just to blind to realize the lag, like some people seem to claim in this thread.).
RIP
So its basically stfu and live with the lag.

Thing is original dynamis wasn't that bad, even when you had two alliances or more.
