Help, I need a ticket to attend but theres no way to get one. I doubt everyone who got one will attend, I even found someone willing to transfer the ticket but I don't know if that works. Can any SE rep give out information on how people still wanting to attend can join a waiting list at the door, or perhaps somehow transfer tickets? Let's try to respond to your community wanting to go :(

They selected random users from those who RSVP'd. A PAX badge was required even though it isn't at PAX itself. There is no way to get tickets currently.

I thought those free RSVP "tickets" were actual tickets to the event, but apparently not. I later got an email saying I wasn't selected.

You don't need a PAX badge to get into this event, it says so on the page itself. If you were declined in an email, that is the issue. Why can't they let people who were declined, get in on a waiting list if those that were accepted don't show up? I really doubt everyone accepted will show

the 14 one does require a pax badge, and its basically the same thing, just the next day.

Yes but the 14 one is a bigger venue and specifically states you need the badge. XI is a smaller gathering and does not say you need the badge.

Hello,

Wow thanks for your reply. I have submitted a ticket here:

We have received the inquiry.

Ticket Number: 12573897

Please be sure to have your ticket number ready when you are contacting the Support Center for assistance.

I have someone who cannot make the event and would like to transfer the ticket to me. He changed the name on showclix.com but I am not sure if that is sufficient for me to enter the venue. I have already booked my hotel and transport so I would be very sad if I couldn't enter. Any help you could give would be appreciated on how we can transfer the tickets in the correct way :)

Greetings everyone,

As stated on the FINAL FANTASY XI official site, please note that the fan gathering has been cancelled.

Details below:

As the community may be aware, COVID-19 (also known as "novel coronavirus") is spreading within the East Asia region. Taking into consideration the current situation within the region, sadly SQUARE ENIX has decided to cancel the PAX East attendance of staff who would be travelling from the Japan offices. This difficult decision was based on our desire to prevent any potential spread of the virus and to prioritize the health and safety of PAX attendees and our fellow exhibitors.

As an extra precaution regarding the safety of our guests, we are planning to scale down on our planned activities outside of the show floor. As such, we regret to inform you that we will be canceling the Fan Gathering 2020 at PAX East.

We had originally planned to have Producer Akihiko Matsui and Director Yoji Fujito host a presentation at the event. However, we will be adjusting our plan to deliver this information in a different form. We will follow up with more details in the future.

We thank you for your understanding.

Basically, I was thinking if this virus gets all sorted out and figured out how it can be resolved, would this mean or could this still result finally having into the future of more Fan XI Festival's, maybe even some on the Twitchcon ones of the season even, not to sound like a "TIME MachINE" [granted it be nice to ride in one -Ha~Ha-] ;) uh...
Yeah so do you feel this will still be a likely thing of an event you might be able to still do whether it's in a farther future or nearer one of the years ahead!?

I am just curious!, Let me and us of the community know, thanks!! :D

careful, guys. The corona virus has killed at least 500,000 in China, and this image is from a few days ago. It's probably at least 1 million dead, 10 million infected now. So i applaud Square for cancelling the event, to try to stop the virus from spreading. http://i.4cdn.org/pol/1582155757075.jpg

Not to minimize legitimate safety concerns, but those numbers are definitely not accurate.current estimates from legitimate sources are around 2300 deaths among 55,000~ cases so far.

While the numbers have definitely increased since the report they did, the amount of misinformation going around and panic induced by the media is staggering. SE is wise to alter their plans out of an abundance of caution, of course. Please though, don't just make up numbers or quote made up numbers.

Risk in the US is still exceedingly low, based on advice from the CDC. If you want an educated understanding of the situation and what if any response you should have,I reccomend reviewing this link, which is an official US government source.

LOL you consider the Chinese government a "legitimate source"?

Things that need to be addressed.

A: Refunding for tickets purchased.
B: Hosting live letter event at japan SE and showing whatever they might of planned to show during the fan fest.

The tickets were free you just had to register for them. Not sure what exactly would be refunded.

Does that look like a Chinese website to you?

And do you think that just because you don't trust China's government (who does?) that it's okay to make up giant numbers with no basis?

Really though, this kind of fear mongering has no place on a forum like this.

A: There is nothing to refund, the event was free.
B: The news post by SE itself states that the things the Producer et. al. were going to say will be presented in a different form.

Everything is addressed.

Its like 72000ish and 2k~ deaths. With 2% death rate and most of the deaths are people over age of 30 onward. Healthy people getting sick quicker to due their immune system acting on the virus sooner while older people taking longer to show signs and then becoming sick for longer period. Majority of them in China and rest of them on the cruise ship and released members of the cruise ship in the states. Takes around month to be fully recovered with no virus spread.

Takes about 6 months to a year make a immune shots due to manufacturing of a active virus and killing it/nerfing it for mass spread use.(Your immune system needs a some what active virus to go attack, its not gonna attack one that's dead or the dead virus is laced with poison compound so your immune system attacks a dead virus.)

Probably won't start seeing this clear up until June onward (Since they collected the virus back in Dec/Jan) and immune shots will be scares due to the mass amounts of people being effected now in China.

Even though the tickets were free, people still booked hotel and airfaire/travel. So it was not free. We should at least get something in-game like a vanity item.

Not really. That has nothing to do with SE. Everything carries an element of risk.

Given the current climate, maybe the option of purchasing refundable tickets beforehand would have been the better idea.

Um considering it was them that cancelled, and people booked hotels and airfare, it is their fault. It doesn't take much effort to send out something to the people who were going to participate. We might have differing opinions on that as I personally booked a hotel and travel specifically for this.

Are you serious? There is an international viral epidemic going on, they said they do not wish to travel for that reason.

That is not 'their fault'. It is an outside factor which is affecting many different businesses in Asia.

Please don't quote ridiculous numbers to scare people. Check your facts. The figures as of Sunday 23rd February are 2,442 deaths in China. That is way too many of course but keep things in perspective Mkultrafanboy...... (obviously not a fan-boy of facts)

You are very childish. There is an international pandemic virus, particularly affecting Asia. If you even were going to attend and had been allocated a free ticket, let it be a lesson to you to purchase cancellation insurance in the future and get over yourself.

SE isn't responsible for your travel and accomodations. They owe you nothing.

Also, I mean, is this really the only reason you were going? I mean there's this whole four day convention with hundreds of studios, game stores, peripheral and PC part makers in attendance, dozens of panels on all manner of topics, tabletop, casual game tournaments, just being around lots of other people that are like you. PAX is a lot of fun. The cancellation of this social event is unfortunate, but that really shouldn't ruin the experience. There is tons of fun to be had, pictures to be taken, food to be eaten, music to be heard, etc.

Both FFXI and FFXIV fan gatherings are cancelled. the FFXIV panel is cancelled, and the meet/greet/photo ops are cancelled. Basically everything that involves staff from the Japan offices. The Square Enix both is run by their NA staff and they will still be there, they will still have their square enix store, and the FFXIV battle challenge, along with whatever other games they planned to be showing there.

Sorry, I disagree with your opinion. Thanks.
You're welcome to, but your opinion is widely considered to be flawed. Companies are not responsible for your travel accommodations to an event they organized in the event of its cancellation. This is why travel insurance exists. The only thing they are responsible for is offering refunds of any tickets or anything else they directly sold to you in order to participate in said event. The tickets were free and they didn't sell you anything else. They owe you nothing, and any court of law would see it the same way.

If you cheap out and don't get travel insurance, then it's all at your own risk.

But again, as per my last post. Go to PAX. There is way more fun to be had than the fan gathering could have possibly offered by itself. You will forget that this even happened. This is my 8th PAX East. I love going to this becuase I get to be a total nerd and not be judged for it, have tons of fun, and go home with lots of cool swag.

Thursday has yet to ever sell out, and you had tons of time to buy tickets for whatever other day besides saturday. There was even a few additional days saturday passes became available because of reclamation from scalpers. I mean, if you're going to spend the money to travel here just for the fan gathering (again, this wasn't going to be like the fan festivals, just a presentation and food/drink with staff and fans) you may as well attend the event it was planned to capitalize on.

Greetings everyone,

I just wanted to follow up with some update.

While we weren't able to hold the fan gathering, the upcoming March version of the FFXI Digest will cover the content we were originally planning to reveal during the fan gathering, so please be rest assured.

As for the Q&A segment, we're working with the development team to have some of the questions we collected from the forum answered some time in the near future.

We ask you for your patience just a bit longer, and thank you for your understanding.

Interesting; looking forward to it. I know there were a lot of BST looking for some answers with the recent updates. Also the age old question of EMP gear. Another age old question......

It should be one of the more active digest threads, akin to the BST update one not long ago. But that was active for all the wrong reasons lol.......I was kind of looking forward to watching it on Twitch, If the SE team were going to be there. Too bad I guess, oh well.

Didn't people drop out of the Game Developers Conference too?
