Is it possible to request an in game name change?

I'm sure A LOT of players out there like me look back at when they first named their character and went"WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING?!" and wish they could change it. perhaps they devs could introduce a system which allows players to change their name in game. even if it was for a small fee that would be great. at the moment the only way to change your in game name is by making a character on another server with the exact name and transferring your character with the same name to that server..this is a tedious not to mention expensive method which should not have to be done.

You can pay for World Transfers and Mules with that same character name to basically force a name change...

wow does it fine so I see no reason why it wouldn't work here. If someone is going to steal LS bank they prob just going to change servers anyway along with their names so I fail to see your point.

Poor, lazy, and uninspired reason. There are ways to make it so changing your name can't happen unless certain requirements are met. That's logic, that's programming.

I'll tell you how to change your name.

Step1; Delete your character.
Step2; Make a new character, with that name.
Step3; Call SE and say "I accidently deleted my character, can you make it not deleted anymore?"

You will need original registration codes, current payment info, original name/address tied to the account, etc for them to do this. Also, hope they don't see this.

I know some people have been able to have a GM change their name if they have progress or large amounts of things stored on a mule and the mules name is offensive, but it is at the GMs discretion vs simply deleting them, so yes it can be done, but they likely wont let you.

No piece of gear is rare enough to bother with this anymore, no shells have banks. Silly argument, name changing/race change is deffinately something Square should be adding, makes them money.

Wings of the Goddess could be tied to name changing (changing the past and all).

There still the implications of changing your name: ninja lotters, bank robbers, scammers, bad reputations.

These are part of any MMO, you make a name for yourself eventually, be it good or bad, you have to live with it. You can argue day and night that most of these things don't happen anymore but, that's a lie. I've seen people kick their party after Shinryu, to take all the loot before and run off with it. It does still happen, whether it happens to you or not. That's where "bad" reputations come in, and why there isn't/shouldn't be an easy way to change your name.
