The most populated FFXI live server for english language: Asura is infested and overwhelmingly saturated with users blatantly violating the Terms of Service user agreement. Scripted automatic farming / automated character control is viewable in most every significant method of gathering resources, gil, exp, jp, and equipment procurement source. These corrupt users exploit and abuse any vulnerability and any poor development judgement to detrimentally devastate the intended gaming environment. It is wrecking the reputation of not only FFXI as a title but also Square-Enix as a top prestige video game producer. Policy and rules are to be obeyed to ensure an honest use of FFXI accounts.
Please supervise and regulate all servers properly !
Please fully enforce the Terms of Service !
Please terminate the accounts of users that are found to be using automated third party programs and scripts to command movement, and command interaction within FFXI areas !

Support in this effort is always welcome. The struggle ending corruption has been a battle on FFXI servers for the game's entire existence. Intelligent content and interface design being one of if not the most effective counter-measures against exploits and ToS violations. As mentioned in the original post, there's enough content and interface that have flaws weaknesses and lack competent design tools to where FFXI is unable to eliminate corrupt behavior on it's servers purely through programming design. The special task force needs and requires additional resources, authority, and developer side intelligence capabilities.

I know exactly what you mean. I spent HOURS upon HOURS in Palborough to get items for Bastok Mission 1-3 because of these people.
I was given a link in game by a kind GM to report to Special Task Fask. Here it is.

Without terminating the accounts of the automated farmers that plague those open world areas, there's a few programming options. One: add those specific treasures to a widely more diverse treasure pool potential. Two: increase the drop rate of the materials needed for the ultimate crafting shields in the level 99+ enemy loot pool. Three: Over-haul the maps where the level 99+ enemies are that drop these materials allowing for a 500-600% greater number of enemy population across a map size corresponding to a 500%-600% increase of zone size. Four: Discover accounts using ToS violating behavior and ex-communicate them from servers where ToS violations are condemned by designating one server where the third-party tool users can all be placed together. Do not allow server transfer off of this said designated server where detrimental accounts are sent to. Five: Have crafting NPC's sell the ultimate crafting shield spheres for modestly determined amount of crafting guild points. Example: Impaction Sphere -> 3 guild points. I am sure there's even more answers to that specific problem, please feel free to add to what i have here.

In case you're interested, and haven't seen it yet, I linked to a recent post of Special Task Force in one of the other threads discussing these issues, here: Where are the GM's?.
It's in Japanese, though, but translating it the best I can it doesn't look like they actually said too much. It's not like they /can/ say too much, however, and I do believe they are there, and are working on things.
Just... kind of very slowly-like. :]

There's another eyesore and devious behavior occurring on Asura. ToS violator accounts are using 3rd party automated scripting programs to "sell" experience points and job points to naive or apathetic players by charging large sums of gil for invites to a party allowing the "customer" to obtain exp / jp as a leech.

I came across one notorious "player" in Sih gates, often yelling about selling job points. Had a bunch of characters on Auto-follow, speed hacking and killing mobs.
The lead "player/bot" kept targeting the mobs I was fighting and just auto-following them around.
What get's me, is the audacity of it, they just do not care if they are in plain view anymore!

There are 24 hour IGE shouts. GMs take 2 hours to reply if you get a reply at all. Then do absolutely nothing. Bots have been getting spheres for 2 solid years and rmting with shields. I mean look, gil is worth HALF of what it was this time last year. These bots are making a billion+ every single day.
There is absolutely zero reason to fear. So why wouldn't you/they just do whatever they feel like.

Have you try contacting in-game though? Just about last week, I called GM about problems I had, & one did shows up and somehow took care of it. I won't divulge the matter as per agreement with GM, but it was responsive & very helpful. :)

Square Enix ? Where are you ?
Pollution is ramping up, RMT advertisements are multiplying. The internal communications of FFXI are diseased. STOP the RMT FILTH PLEASE!
To those who traffic on websites that violate Terms of Service: YOU are destroying the honest community, YOU are detrimentally effecting the entire population of the servers you connect to.
Ignorance IS NOT AN EXCUSE.
Envy IS NOT AN EXCUSE.
Apathy IS NOT AN EXCUSE.
Conflicts with your real life ARE NOT AN EXCUSE.
Lack of patience IS NOT AN EXCUSE.
{ @ RMT Consumer @ RMT Trafficker }The environment on a MMO game IS NOT YOURS TO CONTROL. YOU alone do not have the privilege, authority or justification to determine the RULES ETHICS OBLIGATIONS or REQUIREMENTS in this game.
This statement can be applied to ANY online game where there is peer to peer commerce internally occuring within whichever online game.

Sorry, I don't think it's the way you should tell SE. Two RMTs got kicked out of the connection right after I yelled (I did /sea though) and they came back on 5 minutes later. I am kidding you not.
SE isn't banning RMTs.

They do not have what they need to apprehend them. Also their business model of allowing for free trial, unauthorized installations and downloads of software without a two tier or greater validation process is debilitating in the effort to permanently remove RMT activity. The webpages and the transactions that occur on those webpages are what have to be shut down to have a true elimination of existing RMT.

They actually do. Here's the problem. There is zero requirements to create a new account. This morning the 2 that were shouting were banned. 10 minutes later, new shouters.

These proposals to the internal interface of the game can and will greatly eviscerate the current RMT channels of item and gil trafficking which would limit them to the unappealing prospect of only being capable of dispensing an entire FFXI account as illicit merchandise.

Yep. This won't ever change, as little can be down about it.
As you, and I mentioned - We need a way so that we can choose what we want to want to read in the open, free-for-all, wondrous world of /yell.
Be it a /safelist or an expanded blacklist/word blocker.
Other people telling saying "turn yell off then...." isn't the answer, as this is also stopping people viewing actual group content (when it comes up occasionally).

Problem fix on yelling.
If you don't have 45 days on the game, then you cannot do a /yell.
If you don't have at least ONE job also at lv.99, then cannot /yell.
If you haven't completed at least ONE complete storyline to its end, you cannot /yell.
All three of these objective must be met in order to perform a /yell.
.
This would lock out a LOT of RMTs that create an account, do some RMT website promoting /yells,
... then log off and delete that character to redo it again on another newly created character.
.
Not an exact 'perfect' solution, but will stop a good chunk of it.

Except that tells actually have a spam filter. Unlike Yell. Which is the easier solution.
No easier solution than a list of banned words that block yells from going out. Simple. The idea of meeting level requirements or "time played" is reasonable, but how does an actual new person ask for help if they can't use yell, it makes it tougher.
"but they just change the spacing and symbols to bypass the filter" that's the name of the game isn't it. it has to be modified to account for that.

Did anyone click on the link that i had left in my previous reply that went to a different post concerning the polllution in /yell?
Well here's my quote from that :
{ Completely agree, the game should allow /blist capacity of 500 minimum. Once /blist capacity has be increased to 500 or more, there should be provider side capabilities that detect massive /blist additions to quickly discover and investigate Terms of Service violations.
Other Beneficial upgrades that can be done:
Have /yell(lvl) communication and disable the universal /yell and add ability to filter each particular level bracket of /yell(lvl).
Example: /yell99 serves for only those who have obtained a lvl 99 job and have the filter set to allow.
Example: /yell90 serves for only those who have obtained a lvl 90 job and have the filter set to allow.
Example: /yell80 serves for only those who have obtained a lvl 80 job and have the filter set to allow.
Example: /yell75 serves for only those who have obtained a lvl 75 job and have the filter set to allow.
Example: /yell60 serves for only those who have obtained a lvl 60 job and have the filter set to allow.
Example: /yell40 serves for only those who have obtained a lvl 40 job and have the filter set to allow.
Example: /yell20 serves for only those who have obtained a lvl 20 job and have the filter set to allow.
Example: /yell10 serves for only those who have obtained a lvl 10 job and have the filter set to allow.
Example: /yell3 serves for only those who have obtained a lvl 3 job and have the filter set to allow.
Example: /yell0 serves for only those who have no job level above lvl 2 and have the filter set to allow.
After creating channels for /yell0, /yell3, /yell10, /yell20, /yell40, /yell60, /yell75, /yell80, /yell90, /yell99 allow the display and use of these channels both inside and outside of cities.
Interface the filter selection so that it is quickly convenient from the menu, preferably with it's own lead category as to not bury it three+ levels deep into the current chat configuration settings.
Create text commands to allow and disable each channel. Examples: /allowY99 /disableY99 /allowY40 /disableY40
Increase allowable Linkshell active capacity to 2000. Enhance the Linkshell search interface to allow for all character names equipped with a pearl to be shown without truncation.
Allow for Linkshells #3 and #4 to be equipped.
Allow for the Unity communications to have capacity of 4000 or more, so there is no more "The maximum number of people are already participating in Unity chat. Please try again later." Error messages.
Create communications channels based around the traditional /seacom categories. Can use /c or /w as a designation beginning.
Examples: /cExp /cBattle /cMission /cQuest /cItem /cLinkshell /cSocial /cOther
Upgrade + Enhance + Overhaul the /seacom interface to include instructions about usage, instructions about etiquette, and the ability to search for key words displayed in the /seacom entry of any character that is displaying a /seacom.
Allow a /seacom to be set for each individual category with a blank /seacom being designated as disabled for that category. In this way each player can enable and display a /seacom for Exp ~ Battles ~ Missions & Quests ~ Item ~ Linkshell ~ Looking for Friends ~ Others.
With the enhancement of the /seacom interface for quicker search results; create and allow for content tags to be attached to /seacom. Example: a /seacom applied to the Exp category could be tagged with a level range bracket selection and desired vana'diel area. Example: a /seacom applied to the Item category could be tagged with a item type selection, a crafting source selection, a battle content type selection, a level usage selection etc, a auction house inventory category selection.
Detailed Example: Utu grip could be entered with text into the display of a /seacom under the {Item} category and then be tagged with {Omen} {LVL99} {Battlefield} {Grip} {Reisenjima}
Detailed Example: Sublime sushi could be entered with text into the display of a /seacom under the {Item} category and then be tagged with {Cooking} {Food} {Synthesis} {Item} {Meals} {Seafood}.
Allow for up to seven tags to be attached to eash active /seacom. }

That's just going to make it way harder for new players to do any form of group content. What if you get 99 get some of your relic or whatever upgraded and want to do some ambu or something, you then cant create a group and you cant join one at that time because there's only vd yells. Thats just one example why this is a bad idea. A better solution is to just ignore the spam yells, its not like they stop you doing anything but getting rid of yell for any new player will.
