With the Hyper Chocobo Digging Campaign(The time that rest pass between executing your next command after digging will be decreased) active, this removes the zone delay when you can first dig, making it impossible to even test your level of chocobo digging based on first dig after zone delay.
Because of this we can't tell if we're actually leveling of wasting our time. Please change it so we can see what chocobo digging level we are at so we can insure we are using the Chocobo Digging Skill Increase Campaign effectively and not wasting our time.

Chocobo digging itself, is a waste of time... so... working as intended.

Some of us still like to level crafts. Just because you don't think it's worth it, doesn't mean others share the same view.

Nothing from digging is relevant to leveling crafts. I'm 110 every craft and never dug a single time ever.

Well if you're 110 woodworking, you should know that chocobo digging is the best way to FARM(I said FARM NOT BUY) for petrified logs, aside from when the VW event is active. Also, I'm not FARMING to level craft, I've been 110 woodworking for years. Chocobo digging IS relevant for those of us who wish to FARM for crafting materials instead of buying them.
If you want to buy, by all means it's your gil. Much like it's my time, which I rather use to chocodig and farm them.
Like I said you're entitled to your opinion and way of doing things as I am to mine. Less you want to start paying for my subscription fee, then you can dictate how I spend my time.

Don't Worry, Voicememo, she only likes to be negative and complaining and not helpful in any way when she comments (nearly) every time. Only just inputs her pessimistic and downtrodding tone and opinion with out ever giving any helpful information usually needed for the person inputting a question.
And I would LOVE to see what level digging my chocobo is too, since like you, I have Woodworking and P.logs are best attained (almost) freely with digging, along with a LOT of 'metal' ores in desert areas (Gold, silver platinum, orichalcum, iron, mythril, etc...) which i used to lvl up my goldsmithing mule and smith mule.
Saved me a LOT of gil, though it may have taken me a little longer than someone who just buys them from AH and wants that "Oh i need that done as fast as possible because i have no patience." attitude.
:: Ergo, she has no patience enough to lvl up chocobo digging skill, but has plenty of opinion about something she (probably) doesn't do.

Time is money. if you're spending time digging you're losing more money than you would if you just bought the logs and farmed sparks.
They're (right now) 10k each. if it takes you more than 30 seconds per log, you're wasting money. Less than 10k if you buy stacks with 7 stacks up.
... and once you buy them, people that don't understand the value of time vs money (like you both, lol) will put more up.
But, hey, if everyone was smart, there would be no economy, so, keep diggin'

I had had the same thought as OP. I too would like to see "Chocobo Digging Skill" listed under Crafts. Would give an incentive to work on it. ^^

Supply has to come from somewhere, I bet I could buy out AH and whatever else people have faster than they could supply it. And you are also not factoring in the other things that are dug up as well, which in turn reduces costs compared to time.
Like ANY craft, leveling a craft is an investment in the future. By being higher level you can dig up better things. Else why did you level crafts? By your view, time is money you should just be making gil and buying everything instead of crafting.
IF I were capped digging that is a different story, but since I'm leveling, digging up petrified logs and other materials, I consider that a win win win situation.

Digging is relevant still to modern crafting. It's the only source of Lizard Molts, which are needed to make cp capes w/ leathercraft. No diggers = no capes. :(

It's a good thing mecistopin's mantle is (up to)20% better

Which is not buyable/sellable, and irrelevant to the discussion at hand. The fact remains that there are things that still depend solely on digging, which supports the request to make it more intuitive to level by at least displaying digging skill.

Molts are skill 0, completely irrelevant to skill level, and totally useless as mecistopins are undeniably better. They're also "buyable"

I also agree with the OP, and think that Digging Level should be available in the main menu.
Re ; the whole "time is money" thing. For my part, at least, I'm not working on Wall Street. I am a Roleplaying Gamer. I like RPGs.
I am playing a RPG character in Vana'diel, and my character likes to raise chocobos from eggs, care for them, race them, and take them out riding around the beautiful world of Vana'diel.
My RPG character is not a banker or a stockbroker. My character likes to go fishing, dig with chocobos, and also to have adventures with her friends and with her Automaton.
Sometimes my RPG character thinks it would be nice to farm gil items, sometimes it is not something that my RPG character wants to do.
Sometimes she just travels around Vana'diel, admiring the scenery. Sometimes she just plays /emote games with her Automaton. Sometimes she solo's fierce NMs.
What I'm saying is that instead of "time is money", I would suggest that "time is a lot of possible experiences." Being able to enjoy those experiences is a very personal and individual resource, as it is the ability to enjoy life and be happy.
I'm happy when I go digging on my chocobo, it is fun.
It would be nice to know what the Digging Level is, since we know what most of the other in-game levels are.

HOW can I love your response here any more than I do now? This was wonderful. Time is spent ENJOYING the game; it is for fun, it is a game, it is how YOU want to play the game, not how everyone else thinks YOU should play it (unless they are paying you to play the game, then that's a whole different conversation route lol)

I call again for the chocobo digging skill level to be shown, not hidden. Since SE has the chocobo digging campaigns as part of some of the monthly limited events what is the point of hiding it? Since SE is offering help to skillup, why make it so hard to determine level(testing of the delay before initial digging when zoning). Other things in the game have been made easier for quality of life improvements, why not just display the chocobo digging skill level.

I've finally reached veteran chocobo digging based on 15s zone delay before I can dig. I call again to unhide the chocobo digging skill and a guild npc to be able to tell us our rank up test item. So far I have not found any data on what test item must be dug up to go from veteran to expert.

I still like to do ballista, w hich no one ever cared about becasue you can't get l33t l00t from it. It must seem shocking that anyone wants to do an activity in the game for fun's sake and not just to advance their character.

Time is not money. Not everyone runs their life experience through a monetary gain\loss filter. Adventuring Fellow a waste of time? But I enjoy my adventuring fellow. Chocobo Raising a waste of time? But I enjoyed watching that little guy blossom!
Anything lost can be found again, except Time.

And I got them a LOT. So even if I needed these, I doubt I would have done digging.
But it's fine, some people like it and I say power to them

I'm pretty sure as an Adept digger (a20, or 20s zone delay) there is no test item. As I leveled I often went to zones that didn't have what ffxiclopedia lists as the test items and ranked up anyway on several occasions.
SE sees fit to give chocobo digging campaigns at least a couple months a year. That is reason enough for them to give it a little bit of attention. I would also like to see digging adjusted so once we hit the daily dig cap for the game to not let us continue digging. By the time I cap out I've often long zoned out of paying attention. By that point I'm usually, click macro and hold down forward.

I can dig in under 10 seconds upon entering the zone now. I am not sure what item I dug up to accomplish this, but recently have been digging a lot in Valley of Sorrows, all over Adoulin and Aht Urghan areas too. Wonder if that did it although it doens't look as if I dug up anything I hadn't dug up many times before. Might it be an item you have to dig up multiple times?

You're character has no concept of having an numeric value associated with all the vital statistics of his/her life.
Now that I've discarded your entire argument (for me anyway), I'll add that I see no reason to keep this value hidden from the players. The fact it is hidden has kept me from caring about it, which has also kept me from caring that the chocobo I raise dis totally sub 50 in the IQ department.
