Exception Code: c0000005 can be caused by many, many different things. It can be caused by memory errors, problems with drivers, hard drive issues, etc.

It can also be cause by faulty registry entries, which I'm going to guess is the issue here, since it happened right after an update.

Try uninstalling the pol client and reinstalling it. If you need to download it again, you can get it from the official website here: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/vista01.html

Check the properties of your video and sound drivers--if they recently got updated, could be throwing an exception on startup. Winupdate sometimes updates these things without you knowing it--FFXI has a long histroy fo going bonkers after driver changes. If you got new ones, try rolling them back.
