Hey folks,
I've got FFXI: 2007 on the XBox 360 and FFXI: Ultimate Collection on PC and personally I prefer playing on my 360, but opted for the PC version because I lacked Wings of the Goddess on the PC and I find it's impossible to find in the UK. I've noticed a few US websites selling it who are willing to deliver overseas. Will the US version of the expansion be compatible with my EU XBox 360?
If not, anybody have any idea where I might be able to get a copy of a UK version of the expansion? Or alternatively, the 2008 edition. It doesn't matter if it's used because I've got the codes from my PC version.
Thank you. :)

It depends on if you use an NTSC version 360 or a PAL version 360. If you are in the UK chances are you are using PAL version. If memory serves I believe the 360 is region locked so NTSC games will not play on PAL systems, same with PAL games on NTSC. If this is the case you'll have to try and find a PAL version of the game.
However it is possible the game itself is region free, which means it will play on your system whether it's a PAL or NTSC region.
Edit: Unfortunately it appears this game is region locked, which means you will have to find a PAL version.

According to different sources on the internet:
US versions of FFXI and Wings of the Goddess are NOT compatible with PAL.
US version of FFXI: Ultimate Collection is unknown.
Though I'm kind of hoping as SE have decided to rule out Europe in their release of FFXI: UC, then they've not restricted the US version, but I suspect it's not likely to be the case. The lack of a UK Ultimate Collection was why I bought the 2007 edition in the first place, I couldn't find 2008 and hoped I'd be able to find WoTG at some point.

So borrow the install disc from someone else in the UK and then go back to booting with your 2007 disc. WotG discs have gone out of print. Console versions are only in print for a short time, and now that the PC versions have digital distribution through Direct2Drive and Steam, those even have limited print runs.

I don't actually know anybody in real life who plays the game. I guess my best bet is to continue looking for second hand copies. It seems there's plenty of US ones, but no UK ones.

Hey Saefinn, just wondering if you ever got your hands on Wings of the Goddess.
I'm also in the UK playing on Xbox. Just got into FFXI and a friend I met on here 'Gavion' suggested I get WOTG.
I already purchased the Registration Code but like a noob didn't realise that you needed to install from a disc.
Been looking everywhere and it's impossible to find.
If you have it could I have a lend? I'll install and send right back.
Thanks.

Just another one of the pitfalls of releasing MMOs on consoles. Expansions become impossible to find after the production run of the discs ends.

I have a copy I can post out to y'all if it's just the Xbox 360 discs you need. As you can't PM me yr contact details on here, do so on ffxiah.com and we'll get that sorted.

Lending disks is prohibited. Please purchase the expansion disk of the registration code you purchased. User Agreement does not permit borrowing disks

A note to those who might not know.
That said, this forum is probably not a good place for this kind of discussion... I personally could not care less what anyone does, so please, do not waste your effort and time to snap at me for posting this (this is to no one in particular, just a general tid-bit). ^^
I just don't want people to end up with something unfortunate due to trying to help others.
Moreover, I imagine it will become more and more difficult to obtain these things for the consoles. Good thing they never even released it for the PS2 here heh...
Hail to thee, o PC?
Kind Regards,

Thanks for pointing that out Dragoy. As you can probably imagine, I last read the ToS a very long time ago and that part of the user agreement didn't stick in my memory!
I wonder if they're phasing out Xbox 360 users on purpose? Presumably to get round FFXI players not having to have a Gold Subscription, S-E have to pay some sort of premium to Microsoft for the privilege and that's probably a cost they want to cut back.
