View Full Version : Make chocobs usable in Wings of the Goddes Areas
I don't know if this is an oversight or what but players own personal chocobos are not usable in the past Wings of the Goddess areas.
There really is no excuse not to have this working this after spending all that time raising a chocobo very least we should be able to use it in all areas chocobos are supported in.
Issues like this one should be easily fixed. I find annoyances like this take away from the game in general, since they shouldn't even be here in the first place.

Chocobo's cannot travel back in time.

If some sort of temporal distortion can occur to let me use a linkpearl to call my npc. I am sure somehow they can find a way to allow my whistle to be heard through a maw and then my chocobo will hear it and naturally want to come to me.

Chocobos also can't swim but they can reach kazham just fine though, now can't they?
You can argue that they can ride the airship but, there's no way that's how they get there, takes too long.
Argue that they can use telepoints. You mean they can teleport but can't use maws (teleport)?
Argue that they can use outpost warps. See above.
Hell, we need a FEATHER to travel to the past through the maws, guess what chocobos are covered in. Just sayin'.

Did you ever think they might of taken a boat?
But since this is a video game stuff doesn't have to make sense to start with.

I want to know of this magical chocobo boat to kazham that gets there instantly. Would use it everyday, just for the hell of it. Where's the opposite dock? *Starts singing "I'm on a boat, never though I'd be here" in his head*
Okay, I'm done being dumb. Is there really a legitimate reason to not be able to use our chocobos in the past?
Also, what about Altepa/Kuzotz, how do our chocobos get there? Through Korroloka Tunnel? That...doesn't seem likely (less likely than being eaten by a maw at least).

I'd say chocobo's not being capable of time travel is a significant reason.

I was hoping you weren't actually being serious. That's...sad. I also shouldn't be able to reconstruct a person via memory fragments that magically appear out of random memory flashbacks that I wasn't a part of but I can do that in Wings of the Goddess as well.
I can also kill gods, avert apocalypses, alter history, and more.
Things I can't do: Jump over logs.
Shall we continue arguing semantics? I asked for a legitimate reason.

Those are all things you can do and has nothing to do with chocobos.

Traversing chocobo's on your travels such as airships or through tunnels, are far more in line than being brought into the past. Some "legitimate" or "realistic" arguments just don't stand the test in a video game. Your trying to prove your point against something that is hardly worth proving. There are other reasons besides "realistic" reasoning as to why chocobo's arent summonable in the past, maybe because the devs wanted to imply additional incentive for players to use sigil. Or reasons beyond your current understanding. Stop bashing, have your opinion why, and let it be at that.

Unlike the person I was talking to, you are actually trying to make sense rather than just saying stupid one liners. Bashing? Perhaps, but the previous person was merely trying to turn down the idea for absolutely no reason, albeit the sake of turning it down.
I never used the word realistic for a reason. Because it's a game, one that has fantasy right in it's name. "Realism" has absolutely nothing to do with it, or we wouldn't be able to travel to the past in the first place, and wouldn't be arguing about something so idiotic. This is where i asked for a "legitimate" reason for there not to be chocobo whistles in the past. How is it game breaking? How does it change anything other than it being a mild convenience?
Additional incentive for players to use sigil? I'm sorry, I'm not following you here. What does Sigil have to do with riding a chocobo? My current understanding is based upon the fact that there's is currently no plausible game-based reason that it is disallowed, hence the request for a legitimate reason, which no one has come up with. You're basically telling me to stop asking, because I don't know. Isn't that the basis of needing to ask? Not knowing (not that there is anything else to know)?

For the sake of turning it down? Any moron that plays this game can clearly see that chocobos cannot travel in time. How is this not a valid reason again?

why do you need chocobo's in the past? you can get around fine with the teleport system that is in place there.

excuse me when I say sigil, and mean allied notes. Regardless, you understand what I mean.
And I dont mind if you ask, your version of asking is rough and to the point of seeming like you just want to be on top of the conversation, "winning" is everything to people, especially within mild arguments. About time traveling chocbo's none the less...
And back to the games mechanics on things, above my post you see one of the most valid reasons for not needing chocobo's besides the one that you rent(via allied notes). It's all based around being able to teleport. Possibly rentable chocobo's are just methods of unlocking areas faster.

It's not that they can't travel through time, that's just crazy talk. No, the reason is that there is a ban on importing poultry back and forth through time, because of the risk of a bird flu outbreak. You could take your bird back with you, but never bring it back.

Your chocobo appears out of thin air as soon as you use your chocobo whistle.
If chocobos have the magic to instantly teleport to you regardless of where you are in the world (which none of the mage classes are capable of doing), I'm sure they have the magic to go back in time, like a mage with Recall.
If chocobos are summoned, well, carbuncle is capable of joining us in the past.
If chocobos are amazingly fast, why does it take 15mins to choco from Windurst to Jeuno, when it takes seconds for the choco to get from Windurst to North Gustaberg?
If chocobos have the magic to stop time to come to me and make it seem like seconds, then perhaps I ought to be able to lend my friend my chocobo whilstle, jump on my chocobo's back as he stops time, get on the magical boat and sail my way to Yuhtunga Jungle and only make my amigos wait mere seconds.
If this game is just at times unrealistic with no explanation as to why, then why can't a chocobo travel in time? If a Delorean can do it, I'm sure with a bit of moogle magic, a chocobo can too.

Chocobos can walk on water, can ride over mountains and fly. Didn't you play FF7/9? and 5
They can't go back in time though ... but you CAN ride chocobos in the past, just not your own.
Also if you call a chocobo in the past, wouldn't it just run through the cavernous maw to get to you? I mean chocobos are really smart apparently.
Regardless of arguing the "realism" of it - it would increase the utility of raised chocobos to have them usable in more areas. I support any effort to expand the number of areas where I can summon a choco.
Just rent the ones that cost allied notes... problem solved >.>
No that doesn't really solve my problem. The reason i was in the WotG areas to start with was because I was hunting VNMs for a TotM weapon.
In the present zones I can use chocobos all I want sit look for VNM, hop on my chocobo move to another part of the map check for VNM again, if I don't get a reading can just use my chocobo again assuming my whistle cooldown timer is up.
However once I killed the present VNMs I have to go kill the past ones, and since you can't use your own chocobo the process of locating the VNM is much slower.
Why should I be inconvenienced by not being able to call my chocobo in the past I still haven't seen a good reason why.

Make chocobos usable in Abyssea. Who cares about WOTG at this point.
