Returning Player

I am a returning player (I started playing when the game first came out when I was a kid) but a bit of nostalgia has brought me back once or twice before and after a couple of years, I want to play again. I am in NC USA (EST).

Several questions...

Is there is a particular server I should return to? (my original character is still on Ragnarok).
Any linkshells looking to help out a returning recruit?

Asura has the largest English speaking population. Everything I hear is that other servers are basically dead, with only a couple hundred players on them.
