Thank you POL for tkaing $13 from me and stil not able to play....
So I decied to reactivate my od ff xi account. Didnt think it would be that hard to do...After buying a new version of the game from best buy online and downloading it, I started to play on a new account and everythign was fine and dandy, but now apparently I can reactivate my old content ID cause I get stopped at "confirm membership" page where I cant type in my password, So I look into it and find out there 2 versions of the POL viewer so I download the one off the website and it worked....I got into my old accoutn PAID OFF the $13 I owed them and then went to try play FFXI and got the error "FF XI is not installed" , SO i figured that I'd try to unistalle the game and reistalle it, since it was the EU viewer messign it up befor I fig the game just need to be re-dled, So I do all that junk get back at my accoutn go to content ID to reactivate it and I get the same error as the first time....tells me my password or ID is wrong.

I even tried to talk with "customer service" but all they did was change my password and tell me have a nice day, did even give me time to explain my proablem before shuttign the session down...some customer service.......

anyoen got any idea how to fix what im going through <<; it seems everytime I try too get ff xi it turns into a EU version of the game for some reason >>

Same as you had to buy new version an install it. Then got it working an to content ID's not letting me either same stupid error code. Went through support. Told me download the EU version to fix the problem but it did not fix the problem. Replied back stating there still a issue with it. Haven't heard back yet. I'm not paying long distance to talk when they cant seem to figure it out or even tell me what the problem is. When I know my ID an password are CORRECT! Even though havent played in 8 months not sure if that has a problem with it or not. But dang it I cant play on ps2 anymore i died on me lol. So stuck tring figure out why I can not connect to the content id is the only issue I am having an about to drive me batty ><

best buy to did a digital download. No I downloaded it off the website they gave me link for it. But it doesnt work for me about to give up on it mumbles!
Here's the link they game me though http://www.playonline.com/ff11eu/download/media/vista01.html?pageID=medi

What they told me uh huh its not wrong for one thing. 2 wtf does region have to do w/anything but did what they said to do an nope doesnt work same dang errror.

- The POL ID and/or password is wrong although the customer successfully
logged on the POL Viewer.
You may be mistyping the login details - it happens every now
and then especially when the POL password is saved in the POL Viewer
settings which means that you don't have to type it in to log
on POL Viewer and forget the POL password as a result.

- The POL account's region is different from the POL Viewer's region
version (on PC):
If you are on Vista/7 you downloaded the US POL Viewer
from the US playonline.com.
Therefore, you should need to download the Win7/vista POL viewer from the
European playonline.com website

Nhathat the problem Im trying to get the US version since my account is US and some reason all I can download is the EU viewer in which it will cause your info to not match up

A bit confused, are you EU, or NA player? Trying to understand why you are trying two different region specific POL installs....were your old conent ID's activated under EU, and now you are trying to pull it into a US install?

I don't recall if SE uses region specific content ID's or not--some vendors will do that. If so and your old version was activated under EU, then you may not be able to pull it into US.

Again, not fully understanding just what is going on with the two different releases.

im a NA player, Yeah I guess you cant log into your accoutn to purchase and reactivate your content ID if your using a EU viewer as a NA player and vise versa, which is kinda stupid imo, not even sure why SE coudlnt just make it liek every other freaking mmo and have it set up where your able to go to a website and do all the account stuff. <<;
kinda frustrated cause it seems everytime i unistalle and reistalll it for some reason downloads the EU version, im using windows 7 so idk if its that.

omod,

We’re sorry for the problems that you are experiencing trying to get back into FINAL FANTASY XI. From the description of your problem, it sounds like your purchase from Best Buy is for one region (North America or Europe), whereas the old account you are attempting to play on is from the other region.

While FINAL FANTASY XI is available worldwide, the software and billing services are region-specific to the three regions that the game has launched in. One cannot update the billing information on a North American account through the European software, as the billing for each region is separate. And the European PlayOnline Viewer will not recognize an installation of the North American FINAL FANTASY XI software.

We recommend contacting the SQUARE ENIX Support Center for assistance in determining what region the original PlayOnline account was registered under. Then you will need to obtain the appropriate software, as well.

The North American SQUARE ENIX Support Center can be found at this link:
