This was when you had to walk and ride Airships so it took a long time to get around. SO when Sandy finally took it, i couldn't run my legs to the outpost fast enough. I'm very impressive the first day of Follower quest is up in server. People so excitement on doing this quest. So you can imagine how many ppl will gather in quest ???. If it happen today you will see only crowned ppl who try to keep check ??? for start their own quest. But back to that date people make a queue and step in one by one to do it. Even got someone just ignore this but it still impressive that most of ppl just wait for their queue. Don't think something like this will happen again XD

Description: My first dungeon experience in Final Fantasy XI - King Ranperre's Tomb. The image of a set of ancient and weathered stairs leading down to unknown mysteries, created a feeling that was both foreboding and captivating in equal measure. This was amplified by the shift in music, from the San d'Oria theme that invoked a sense of shelter and order, and the Ronfaure theme that captured the early excitement of adventure, to an area that now didn't have any music but merely ambient sounds, where I could only hear the wind, my own footsetps, and loud, thudding noises in the distance of unknown origin.

Very creepy atmosphere, the ghost children popping up out of nowhere were sad and surprising, plus a horde of undead things wander the tunnels... The lack of music compounded the creepiness further and put me a bit on edge, but I could handle that.

Description: The Hall of the Gods is functionally a corridor you generally cross in a single direction on the way to Tu'Lia, and that direction shows us the biggest depiction of Altana in Vana'diel - but if we turn around, we see she was not alone. It's a credit to XI's storytelling foresight that we could accidentally see Promathia in chains in a Rise of the Zilart area, before Chains of Promathia. I wish the story would have let us bring Prishe and the gang here.

I did forget how I started FFXI as a humble fisher-taru 14 years ago. Fishing took me to beautiful places that remind me of the beaches and magical waterfalls of my islands in Hawaii. Description: Choosing a screenshot for this proved to be more difficult than I thought. It may not look like much is going on here, but this screenshot means a lot to me. This was the very first screenshot I took within the first few months of playing FFXI back in August 2004. I was leveling my RDM and he was leveling his WHM in La Theine.

Up until the Fairy > Sylph server merge, I was known as Rafa for about 6 years. Brynna was played by my brother in real life. He no longer plays, but playing with him was among some of my fondest memories in FFXI. There's not one particular screenshot among the thousands I took over the years that I could choose would be more important than any other.

I took a stroll down memory lane going through them all, and remembered many things during those times that shaped who I am as a person in real life, as well as the mithra I play in game. I can't speak for everyone that plays but for myself personally, FFXI has changed my life. Although the memories were made on an online RPG, they were memories none the less... and they're real. All the people that I've spoken to over the years, and all of the amazing people who I met along the way, the good and the bad... they all live on forever in some form in my mind. The best part is that some of them I can call friends for life. If I'm being completely honest, this game and my memories of it are one of the best things to happen to my life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
