I could have sworn I read something about this being "unfixable", but after 10 minutes of searching the forums fruitlessly I decided to post.
This is one of the most (if not THE most) annoying aspect of the game in my opinion.
Countless lost chests, failed union signups, abandoned attempts to purchase temporary items, etc. all simply due to either being in a party with an active bard/white mage/corsair/etc. or being too close to support NPCs or AoE spamming mobs.
If I get campaign tags half a dozen NPCs seemingly scramble to prevent me from buying a scroll of instant reraise or signing up for union in the few seconds I have before a horde of yagudo descend upon me. Sometimes It would really be convenient to grab a couple temp items before entering Nyzul instead of the typical Menu -> Protectra (event skipped) -> Menu again -> Shellra (event skipped) -> Menu yet again -> Ballad (event skipped) -> party leader enters. Plus, I didn't really want to open that time extension pyxis. Thanks, Warcry.
What really throws me off is there is an exception to the rule: Synergy.
Interacting with a synergy furnace appears to use the same menu interface as other NPCs, yet when you are "interacted" with while operating a synergy furnace you don't get kicked out of the menu with an "Event Skipped" in your chat log.
What gives?
