View Full Version : Quicksand Caves Trigger Plates Reduced to One Player Any Race

For the trigger plates in Quicksand Caves, it would be nice if it only took one character of any race to be able to open doors. It's a little unfair with allowing a single Galka to be able to open the door. If I need to go through doors as a Taru, it means I have to get people to come out and run around the caves with me.
If it isn't reduced to one player, any race, can an in-game, quested item be added that would serve the same function?

i say add a quest or mission like the 3 magi door.
would be cool even for the garlaige door.

I don't mind getting other ppl to get down there, but I agree there may be a change option in the sake of fairness.
Races are kind of equal in terms that they have pros and cons (like stat-wise) and usually added up it should go like every race has the same power.
Stuff like the weight doors would make Tarus "worth less" and Galkas "worth more". I'd a little hard to express it like that, but still it is kind of not fair because it steals the equalness.

This would likely be the best solution (aside from them simply changing the sensor requirements to work for all). There's been a few times where I have ran into the issue with not being able to open the doors because all of my friends were busy or didn't wanna run out just to escort me around the caves. A key item that allows the doors to be opened solo would be a nice addition.

This.
I've been Rank 8 Bastok forever, because I'm too lazy to drag friends down there with me to open the door.
I would gladly do a quest to never have to open multi-man doors again.

The weighted doors made more sense when you knew you were going to need other people regardless for whatever it was you were going through the weighted door to reach.
A quest for a KI to make this stuff permanently soloable would probably be the most universally well-received thing SE could put in the game short of endless inventory. The main question is whether this quest ought to require going through the weighted doors to begin with, or if, with proper planning, a new player could get around QSC without ever having to deal with the doors at all.
I say if you've time to complain about the doors, you should petition the leaders of windurst, Bastok, and San d'Oria to Assist the exiled Galka in Reclaiming our home from the Filthy Anticans!
We build the doors for Galka. We'd be happy to rebuild the doors to let Tarutaru, Elvaan, Mithra, and maybe even Humes thru if Altepa were ours again!

I'm all for a tweak to this - even if it's something like gradually changing the needed weight points from 3 to 2, and at a later time to only one - it could be explained away as the weight mechanism getting older (technically it would be more likely to get less sensitive to weight, not more, but this is a game where many things are explained with magic and crystals...).
Most of us had no idea out choice of race would affect access to an area of the game (or the ability to eat raw meat or fish, or free nation rings...), so it's a bit annoying to have a harder time soloing quests because access requires more people (didn't pick galka because I didn't like the tail).
When a seasonal event was found to be impossible to complete for non-windurstians, that was quickly fixed - I can only hope some day this all area can be visited at one's leisure, instead of involving trying to pry a person or two away from abyssea...

Yeah this arbitrary gimmick is old and obnoxious. Like ok I get that Galkas used to live there, neat. Can I stop being hassled now.
