Hey SE, cool forums so far (kinda). Since your all down for receiving feedback and advice I'll give you my 2 cents. A lot of information presented to us on the forums is really cool, I know im harpy with the Devs posting stuff up. Why not add a kind of "thank you" system. Im thinking like on facebook where you have the "like button". Another big FFXI forum (I wont reference since theres a lot of um... 18+ material *Cough* Neko-Sentai *Cough*) has a thank you system as well and its having a lot of success. Its a good feeling to receive positive feedback, or give it. If the forums are meant to unite FFXI players (as well as structure information) than a way to show appreciation for posting and uniting players is to implement some sort of Thank you system.

I think the concept is a good idea, just not calling it "Thank you".
If it's more general, then you can mark a topic that you think is a good suggestion instead of replying "I agree". It'd be easier to track which topics are more supported by the community.

You see if there was a "I agree/Thank you/Like" option, i would do it to your post. =P

While I like the concept of a 'like', I'd almost hope it doesn't have the 'dislike' as well - I've seen too many posts on Alla (and on other forums for different games) nuked to the ground because of player conflicts rather than content.

Agreed to have a +1 but no -1 system.
People should be able to say something is a good idea just not shoot someone down.

This is basically a reputation system, isn't it? the newest version of vBulletin should have this built in, so it should just be a matter of turning it on and adding a rep-button to the visual themes.
I don't mind having both positive and negative reputation though, you can set it so that each user can only give a certain amount of positive/negative rep per day. This means you can allow each user to give for example 10 positive reps a day, while only two negative reps. This will ensure that people save their negative reps to the posts that actually deserve it.

I don't think the vB rep system shows how much rep a single post has?

For some reason, the like buttons don't work for me. I click them and nothing happens.
