View Full Version : Outrageous Event Wait Time

Dear DEV and Players,
Every time there a event created or updated (i.e. Ambuscade), players suffer seriously wait time , or you simply have to wait just because someone is ahead of you.
Why these events are created this way?
I am not here to pay monthly AND WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT just to play an popular event. If I pay for my wireless phone I expect I can make calls. That's that simple.
DEV, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING???? Why these events are still created in such old school fashion in 2017 and players have to suffer just because they want to enjoy some popular event? Blaming on the hardware or software capability is not acceptable, to some extend, having a game architecture like Ambuscade which there is only ONE instance is a complete joke compare to todays MMO.

There are 6-8 Legion instances. Waiting is nothing new for this game, it's had lines for events for nearly 15yrs. BCNMs used to have a single instance and if you wanted in for even a mission fight, you had to wait your turn. Complaining rudely about the limitations of a program that is this old is not exactly productive feedback. The wait times aren't even that bad nowadays, even if the queue is 30 pages deep, it's only like 10-15min usually. Your monthly fee is not paying for access to a certain event btw, it's paying for the ability to log in to the game world, which makes your phone analogy inaccurate. Using that analogy, you are complaining because you are reaching a number that is busy, which is no fault of the service provider. ^^

you should have played ambuscade back when there was no line, you had no idea if you would make it in at all because everyone else around you was faster at clicking and scrolling the the menu for the entrance . atleast now you know when your getting in and the fact you will get in when the time comes. try doing ambuscade during off peak times rather than when its prime time. off peak is a 1-3 position wait, sometimes even instantly getting in.
(My play time is during main japanese time even tho i'm not japanese, so its pretty much 20-50min wait for me where i am. however i wait and try either just before or just after their time since its a 5-10 minute wait at that time)

Either it's the beginning of the month and people are trying to grind. Or it's the end of the month and again, people are trying to grind. The congestion is also very much influenced by how solo-friendly that month's Ambuscade is. If you /sea legion and there are 8 groups inside with 6 of them being solo BLU then SE didn't balance that month's fight's properly.

Speaking of Ambuscade what's the highest level Ambuscade people have been able to solo (on any job)?
For me Normal is sort of the limit to what I've been able to solo reliably. Sometimes I've been able to solo difficult, but it takes so much time and it's so prone to disaster it just isn't worth the hassle. Which is why I don't bother with Ambuscade, since 145 runs on normal for the +1 set is just... lol F that.
PS > And if anyone is wondering why I'm not partying to get stuff faster it's simply because my play time is far too erratic. For instance, for Ambuscade I'd just:
- Pop into the game
- Try an Ambuscade if I have the KI already
- Go afk for half an hour
- Come back and get a new KI
- Go afk for another 15 minutes
- Maybe come back, maybe log out
- Then try ambuscade again sometime
- Etc. etc.
No group would ever be able to keep up with that playstyle, which is why I'm a solo player these days. That way I can warp out at any moment I want, and resume trying at any moment as well. If you are in a party you need to consider other people's time and that's just not possible for the most part for me.

You're on, probably, the most popular server...
There are MANY benefits to that, but wait time is one of the main issues.

It doesn't matter if solo or party. If the game can't provide what players need in terms of simply basic operational services, how good the game is?
This Ambuscade wait time is more ridiculous than ever, averaging 30-45 min and you people still willing to wait. Congratulations on wasting your life sitting around doing nothing.
Soloist who sign up Ambu then AFK is worse because they may not even know they entered the event and still AFK. I don't blame them, this is one of the byproduct of a crap game architecture.

30 Pages only like 10-15 min wait???

30 Pages only like 10-15 min wait???
They're seemingly basing it on only top-tier players doing it, which is very unrealistic.

This month, the intense lower difficulties are too solo-friendly and it hurts everybody. Competing with soloers for gigas is painful. Hopefully it dies down a little.

Guessing didn't play during the 3+ day wait period for a spawned NM, having LS people rotate through camping wait times for it. Those were not fun, but make waiting for 15~30 minutes seem like a snap.

Do Intense and Regular Ambuscades share instances? Because the thing I originally thought SE was going to do was making Regular solo friendly (in a separate set of instances) and Intense party exclusive. But that ended up not being the case.
PS > And about Ambuscade adjustments, why not just make it so Regular is a nice soloable 15 min battle, while making Intense a party exclusive 30 mins battle instead? Also, it should take 30 battles (avg. 1 Ambuscade per day) at the max solo difficulty to obtain the full +1 armor set. With the lowest difficulty requiring 3 fights per day to obtain, or 90 wins total, rather than the current 290 fights required just for a set of +1 armor.
PPS > Obviously, if you wanted to focus on all the other rewards besides the armor you'd be best served trying to get on board the Intense party train, but for casual players that only wanted the armor solo Ambuscade should be a viable option.

They do share the same instance, which also includes the actual "Legion" event. There was never any indication that "solo-friendly" had anything to do with the backend. In this case, it meant "V2 VE exists"... When they first added Ambuscade, there were fewer instances available as well, and when they added the queue system, it effectively locked out the actual Legion event since the queue appeared to have a higher priority than the event that the zone was actually made for and it was impossible to enter if even one party was in the queue...
Unfortunately, I don't believe that it's possible for them to do an overhaul of the system at the level you are asking for. Keep in mind that even with a pretty big outcry on both sides of the forums here, the usual Taru still only accepts one upgrade mat at a time for capes because it would be too much work to change... Devs stance on the monthly armor sets has always seemed to me to be "NQ is fine for soloers. HQ is for groups." With the newly added focus on Gallantry, it seems to be the case even moreso.
I'm also actually somewhat pleasantly surprised that there has been no rageposting about how 10/20 metals are locked behind gallantry. XD Kinda figured the solo-enthusiasts would be freaking out about that one...

No point complaining about something you've already given up on.
I mean sure, it would be nice to be able to obtain 20 metals with hallmarks, but when getting the first 10 require over 200 runs on normal there's no point in even thinking about the other 10. Instead I just think SE can take their event and shov... *ehem* I mean I rather focus on other content instead. ;)

Those were stupid, and so is waiting 15 minutes because only ~8 instances exist on an MMO.

actually, legion has higher priority, from personal experience DURING peak hour, there is some wait sometimes and takes a few trys but i'v plowed my way into legion (Legion doesn't have a que wait like ambuscade, it has a delay before canceling, during this delay it simply trys to squeeze you in if a party leaves ambuscade when your trying to enter (During the delay))

Actually, that is a new thing. XD It well and truly DID function as a total lockout when Ambuscade was launched. I tried spamming entrance to Legion for 3hrs straight a week after Ambuscade started and was not able to get in at that time.. Would've kept going but my hands were too tired to bother at that point. @_@;;;
... You do realize that even what you say happens is equivalent to "Legion has lower priority at all times"? The only way you can get in is if there is an empty instance and the Ambuscade people are being slow at accepting entrance or if there is no queue... Since the queue will automatically move the next party inside if their leader has auto-accept on immediately after a party leaves, it's going to simply be not possible for a Legioner to get in. Any success you've seen doing so was due to amazing split second luck and not something that will be reliably reproduced during peak Ambuscade times.
I called for it when Ambuscade launched, but I'm gonna say it again: There needs to be a at least one instance of the zone 100% reserved for the Legion event itself. It's rather asinine for the event that the zone was created for and is named after to be effectively shutdown due to the reuse of the zone for an unrelated activity.

please note i did right que, that meaning after they added the que for ambuscade.
and yes, there is a empty instance just as theres empty instances for appointments with doctors, legion now has a delay (Between 5-15 seconds)for issuing the entrance pass that waits for a short time before saying you can't get the pass, in that instance of delay checks if theres room, if not, it checks whose leaving, at which point it grants you the legion pass. once you have the pass, the floor is yours the moment you trade the pass to the tomb.
If you want proof, i have 2 chars, which i made sure to test so you see for yourself.
Char 1 is at the tomb reserving the pass, char 2 is at the same time in mhaura checking the ambuscade tomb to see what current page is at, the mhaura tomb says(Writing short version) incribed to page 892, 870 lights up.
That is 22 spaces being used for ambuscade, at the same time my first char trys 3 times to get a reservation to get into legion and successfully gets it in 7-10 seconds since the option to try again comes up imediently.
At this point its either legion is higher priority than ambuscade or it has its own reserved location
Now then, you'll say its a fluke at best, i then exited legion and retried again
7 tries to get legion pass this time in about 15-20 seconds
Mhaura char checked it at 901 -880, that is again 21 space difference.
I posted entirely on experience before and atm got fresh facts concerning this, Legion is higher priority. try it yourself, only costs 2k to get a maximus tomb, check mhaura first to see how many are currently waiting to get inside, if theres more than 10, then if you hp warp, you can be sure you'll get accurate results as long as you don't take more than 10-15minutes from checking the mhaura tomb.

If there was a reserved instance, then there would be zero wait so long as no one else is already inside. Since even your new data does not support a zero-wait situation, you are forced to agree on the point that there is no reserved instance. The delay you are focusing on has always been there. It's similar to the wait time for entering something like Salvage, nothing special. Getting in while there is a queue in Mhaura is also not impossible, but does depend on luck since I believe that you have to attempt to get the Legion Pass between the time between when one group leaves the instance and the next group enters. If you absolutely, positively have to prove me wrong, then try doing the following and report your results:
1) Char1 @ Mhaura, in queue, auto-accept OFF
2) Char2 @ Legion entrance
3) As soon as Char1's page comes up (eligible for entry and holding up the queue XD,) attempt to gain access to Legion w/ Char2.
4) If Char2 is successful, then drop the entry item and attempt to get another one.
- If the second attempt is successful as well, then my hypothesis on how Legion entry works now is correct.
- Failure to gain access at at step3 OR step4 says that the Ambuscade+Legion interaction functions differently than how I believe it functions and is instead primarily timing/luck based.
(Optional)
5) Enter Legion w/ Char2, if you still have time before getting booted from the queue after getting the 2nd pass.
6) Once Char2 is inside the zone, attempt to enter Ambuscade with Char1. Char1 should be unable to enter Ambuscade (assuming that no other group has finished in the meantime and that Char1 has not been removed from the queue due to timeout.)
- Observe the log to see if Char1 got moved back into the queue or removed due to timeout.
I am curious about the results, but not enough to bother testing myself. ^^;; Regardless of the results, I'm personally not going to be happy with the situation until there IS a reserved instance for Legion itself.

Nyariko, your a good person, you have contributed so much to this forum so please don't mistake what i am about to say again because i really mean no offence to you.
But I'm not gonna bother testing that list you just made. my whole point before wasn't coming up with theories how the system works, the whole point was that you can enter legion extremely easy, that you aren't locked out because of ambuscade so don't be afraid to do legion if you need it. exactly what SE is using as its system to enter is irrelivent to me at this stage in concerns to legion, it serves no purpose to grip and fight about it,if you need me to say it-
Don't bother with my legion theorys, because its probably not correct.
However it is not a theory but proven fact that you can enter legion even when ambuscade is at a high que rate, only takes a few trys.
If your curious, go and ask them on a different thread, i poped 2 theorys based on my experience just so that perhaps someone would have some idea that is in place so people can enter.

I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes for ambuscade. Perhaps don't play on the reddit approved zerg hivemind server.
