I propose this question for those who have not the time or resources to get a relic/mythic/emp. Not saying anyone without a drive for them can't get them but, an alternative main hand wepon to them while working on said weapon. This come to mind because a weapon I feel may have slipped through cracks and that's Oriandori, this wepon seams to me to be the katana version of the Mezraq. The bonuses it gives both party and nin would in my mind be a perfect substitute for said ToM nightmares. I know getting it is not the easiest but, by no means would it be as hard/time consuming as said weapons. Any thoughs/suggestions on this topic would be what I am looking for while I finish Kikoku (*^_-)

If you're looking for something decent and quick/easy to get, go for hochomasamune.

You can solo all 3 NMs required to get it subbing DNC.

If you have a bit of help, go for Ori, it would outparse Hocho, but you can't solo it as far as I know.

If you have lots of time to put in, and no help, Fire magain katana is pretty good.

If you want the best weapon Kannagi is definately the best, but the second best overall is the WoE katana with blade: hi, it's actually better then Kikoku (relic) or Nagi (empyrean), simply because blade: hi is so much better then kamu or metsu. You're honestly really wasting your time working on Kikoku, unless you want the best offhand katana available, lol~

Personally, I'm still in the process of making my Kannagi so I know what you mean.

Personally my weapon set is either Sekka+2/Hochomasamune if I need a bit of help to dodge, for the evasion bonus while maintaining a good amount of Fast Cast for my shadows and enfeebles, or Hochomasamune/Kamome if I'm aiming for pure DD and don't need any real evasion boosters to avoid the enemy's attacks.

Oirandori, I'm not so sure about yet, but I don't have it, personally, and don't plan on getting it. I've just felt that keeping the Fast Cast is important, and then Kamome is best for DD while Sekka+2 is best for evasion.

Correct me if I am wrong but, se is going to fix relic/mythic weapons to be equal or better than emp. And if you look at Oriandori it increases crit rate of everyone, I think that's a pretty powerfull added effect depending on the rate. I don't have it yet and once I get it I will start a forum on the best way to parc it just to know for sure. Hach is cool but, I don't want to be a cookie cutter nin w/o checking other possibilities first.

They said they would like to, and were going to try to fix relics. But short of making metsu crit hit based on tp, it really can't be better, since they have the exact same mods except hi is crit based on TP, so basically, low end hi's are equal to all metsu's, and high end hi's where it crits are more then double metsu averages. The level 90 Kikoku has +20% ish weapon skill damage, but that still isn't going to make it keep up, and how much do you really think SE is going to improve relics based on their track record? I would expect this WS damage increase to be about it, maybe another slight improvement down the line to make the double damage procs happen more, but I really don't think they will do anything substantial aside from keeping its base damage higher then Kannagi's.

They have in the past changed ws's to be crit based. I think penta thrust was one but, I don't know for sure. But, I digress, this is off topic. So you agree Oriandori would be a good main hand weapon? The nm is much harder than almost any other nm I know of to duo/solo but, I think the weapon might be worth it. If only for the added effect

EDIT: what WoE katana?

This one.

And Ori would be good if you have friends and don't want to do fire magian or get WoE or get Kannagi.

WoE Katana = Tobi +2

TRUTH be TOLD

Right now : KANNAGI (TOP KATANA) Kikoku (2nd BEST) Nagi (*** *** one)

After the Upcomming update: Kikoku 90~99 (TOP KATANA) Kannagi (2nd BEST) Nagi (Still ***)

XD

if you Serious about Kikoku , make sure YOU UPDATE IT

Trial of Magian it from 75 ~> 99 ASAP And you shall be happy with it

at lvl 90 it gets "HIDDEN EFFECT" ~> Blade: Metsu DMG+25%

Possibly at 95 be something like Blade: Metsu DMG+50%
and 99 = Blade: Metsu DMG+75%

but that is just my GUESS ^^

Either way, I got Kannagi 85 Atm

Good Luck to YOU lil fella ^^/

Penta doesn't Crit. Penta was changed from damage varies by TP to accuracy varies by TP. According to the update notes, it was actually Skewer and Raging Rush who were made critical WS when Penta was changed.
