Hello, everyone.

We'd like to share a recent post from Director Yoji Fujito in regard to the upcoming changes to geomancy that are planned for the next version update.

Greetings,

I felt that we should explain a bit more in regard to the adjustments planned for geomancy.

What happened to geomancy?

In the past, we received a request to provide detailed information on each of the geomancy spells.

Here is the information (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/48503) we provided regarding enhancement spells at the time (and was updated in March 2016).

Aside from certain spells, these values are used in the calculation in the current version.

Certain spells which weren’t correct were those spells with magic accuracy and magic evasion. While the value itself was correct, we found an issue in the formula which scaled the values. Normally once other properties are calculated, the values are then compensated based on the relative attributes from both the target and the player, moving onto a check to see if the spell lands. However, the values were scaling at this point causing the values to be of those much higher than which we had envisioned.

On a normal operation, the scaling is minimal; however, when these values were scaled along with geomancer's abilities and equipment the values were much higher. The values players are currently seeing in-game were caused unintentionally, therefore this falls under a bug fix.

Geomancy spells which affect magic accuracy and magic evasion are the ones which will be fixed to the actual values they should have been.

I would like to sincerely apologize for not being able to detect this bug when these geomancy spells were implemented, as well as for how long it took for us to address the issue.

Adjustments

If we were to adjust only the geomancy spells, it would make enemies which players used the spells on before too strong, therefore we'll also make adjustments to the enemies as well. Since the issue revolved around magic accuracy and magic evasion, we'll lower the related attributes (overall battle related skill, and resistance to each element). Overall magic resistance will be lowered.

These adjustments will be applied to all enemies post the release of Seekers of Adoulin, when geomancer was implemented. So please be careful when checking out the effects.

Additionally, this adjustment goes hand in hand with other support job adjustments. We will adjust the red mage's enfeebling magic and the effects of bard songs. (The monster adjustment I mentioned earlier regarding “overall battle related skills,” so these adjustments will also contribute to this change.)

We ask you to please wait for further update on the details.
Again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

So what this update does is make mobs such a Dazzling Dolores in reisei become like Golden Kist in reisei in terms on how hard much of a pain a T1 is in comparison to T5, Golden Kist being as bad as a T5 depending on setup (Bad breath <-> Zombie).

Dazzling Dolores whose hate mechanics are nuts, its proc rate to keep it normal hard to attain due to the hate problem, its constant spam of enfeebling breath attacks which makes the hate mechanics worse, and its constant leveling up due to not beable to proc it. and its run around the field mechanic on people being too far when casting magic on it. and its instant turning when hate goes nuts.

Pretty much, she gonna feed and feed hard. Your not gonna get any (Merlinic) head anytime soon

This makes me wish there was a downvote system here. :/ I really hate "sky is falling" mentality posts in general, particularly when there is nothing of worth being said at all.

If you actually read the full post, it says that overall mob meva & resistance for ilvl content is going to be nerfed in addition to the geo bugfix and buffs to macc for RDM & BRD. That mob nerf would include Reisenjima NMs, so it's highly unlikely that the related macc/meva issues would increase their difficulty. In fact, since mob meva is going down while player macc is not changing (or getting buffed in the cases of BRD/RDM,) it should actually be easier to fight them. Honestly, it sounds more like you have a problem dealing with the mechanics than with macc/meva and those are basically unrelated to the topic at hand.

Sicycre: Can you please make sure we get a full rundown on all of the numerical changes? Please? orz

As far as I can tell, this is the biggest shakeup to mechanics in a very, very long time, so it would be extremely helpful and appreciated if we can get official numbers on all spells impacted. It would also be nice if we could get a walkthru on magic accuracy/evasion mechanics and modern numbers, especially since we have no way to verify anything in-game (since /checkparam can't work w/ magic.)

Indeed you should be voted down in the case should they implement a vote down system for failing to read both my and SEs post, the reason being, they said "Overall magic resistance will be lowered" (Which is for us landing spells on the mob, not the mob landing spells on us which is where delores comes in). The way they worded it makes it that a possible magic acc reduction on the mob as well, however that'll be minimal if none at all
