I really hate to be one of "Those" people. But it sounds like you would really enjoy "World of Warcraft", Not "Final Fantasy XI". You should consider a change of Scenery :)

The Problem is we have means to do that already. Its called Rent-Chocobos, and Personal Chocobos. you're talking about completely removing and bypassing both system to implement nothing more than a Glorified WoW-Mount System.
Theres nothing Wrong with improving the game, however this doesn't need Improving. Rent-a-Chocobos are like, ~250. The only thing i can agree with in your comment is that the Time it takes to raise a Personal-Chocobo is absurd. It should really be lowered.
And really, Its not about you per-say, Sometimes an MMO just isn't for said person. Some people Will Enjoy WoW more than FFXI, and vice-versa, Just judging by all your threads I'm only suggesting you might be more Happy with WoW, they have half the things you suggest, it seems like the game for you.
Also, Being able to call Personal Chocobos in more locations wouldn't be bad either.
I don't know - raising a choco only has to be a 1 time investment of time - after that you can call it with your whistle/refill the whistle as much as you want.
Yeah three months is a fairly long time but I don't mind and it doesn't actually take that long (per day) in terms of time investment. I mean taking care of my baby choco takes like 10 minutes. There is a heck of a lot in this game that takes longer.
I just wish I could raise it in the choco stables in Jeuno instead of in 3 cities. I don't like having to hang out in basty all the time.

I have to agree with Karbuncle, judging from several threads the OP has made, you seem to think FFXI is hard. And you would rather have things as easy as possible and not have to work for things you want. In that case, FFXI really isn't the game for you. It's not hard, but for a lot of things it requires time and effort (and a bit of luck) to obtain what you want.
As for rent chocobos, it's nothing that needs fixing. It's not a broken part of the game in any way, the quest to obtain the chocobo license is easy, fee is low (250ish gil) - and even though a lot has changed about FFXI since abyssea, it hasn't made it harder for new players to get their chocobo license.
Honestly they should have sellable chocobos for people who don't want to spend the time to raise one.

am not saying FFXI is hard there is difference between wasting time and having fun honestly i see many things in FFXI that look like real life chores and many of chores made FFXIV a big failure

At the heart of it, it's not a bad idea. Why not have breeders in the same way there are crafters? If someone could breed/raise me a rapid choco that has the bore ability I'd pay through the nose for it.
Maybe it could work off selling the chococards then registering that with a VCS dude to link it to your whistle??
How much would you charge?!
The thing is having your own chocobo has been out for awhile. SE could release sellable ones, or like someone said make people who bread them able to sell them to other people.
Say if you bought it from a NPC for example it would have like average speed not fast like the top breaded ones.
Everything in FFXI doesn't have to be a painful grind this just would make things easier on people. A lot of people don't want to invest huge amounts of time to playing a video game each day.
it isn't a painful grind to spend 10 minutes every day or so to take your baby choco for a walk. IT ISN'T. Heck even if you miss a day or two it isn't the end of the world.
If you think that spending 10 minutes a day (MAX) raising your choco is so heartbreakingly hard - you DO need to find a different game. It isn't even remotely difficult.
Also - the thing that I think is awesome about it - is the more effort you put in - the more reward you get out of it. So people who put more effort in get a better chocobo. I like that a lot. If you don't want to put the effort in - go and rent one - and for christ's sake chocos don't even seem like they are really needed anymore.
The one thing I would say though -is they should make it way cheaper - if not free to use your whistle.

I think the fact they put in Care-Schedules make it a lot easier than it sounds. Now that i think about it.
You do only technically need to interact enough to Read it a Story (learn Abilities), Feed it, and an ocassional walk. Everything else can be taken care of through "Care Schedules", which can be set for what, up to like, 20 days?

You can do 4 care regimens for up to a week each, I think. Three at the very least.
I went away this weekend and of course couldn't log in... I was worried about my baby chocobo - but it's affection level actually went UP while I was away.
If you don't go and feed it you will miss out on stats and if you don't read it stories it won't learn the abilities - but if you're desperate for an easy choco without work you can buy high quality cards with a decent chance that the offspring will automatically learn an ability, I believe.
But really, the "work" is minimal. It isn't even a time sink imo - no more than having to walk up to an AH instead of buying armor from your menu is a time sink.

ummm..you can already do that.....it's called getting a chocobo egg...raising it..and getting your own whistle! you only have to pay 10k per 25 uses which is easy to make now at days. not that hard to do....ooorr...you could just go back to wow....

It's been a while since I bred my chocobo, but as far as i can remember, it wasn't hard or time consuming at all. the only thing I dislike about it is charges on the chocobo whistle.
When I played WoW and got one of those normal mounts, the only thing I thought was better about them was how quick it was to summon them
Also, I think the "go back to WoW" comments are pretty pointless. He pays for the game too, and his opinions or ideas aren't inherently bad because he used to play WoW. There are many things in WoW that I think FF11 could learn from, though this isn't one of them.

I keep reading the comments and chuckling to myself... It isn't a timesink... If you know what you're doing! Lol
Me?? I ended up with a stoopid, slow choco who can't dig a hole with out using greens! Ok the servers going down didn't help but I can see the attraction to buying a pre-raised choco same as you can choose to buy HQ gear rather than skilling up a craft.
AFAIK no choco digs without using greens unless you are doing the hot and cold game (I don't think hot and cold game needs greens but I could be wrong)

Yeah the servers being down was a big blow for you - if that hadn't happened your choco would be in much better shape.
That said - there is a max amount of time per day you can spend training your choco - right now in the baby stage that is like 10 mins for me. I hardly see that as a time sink.

Really? I figured the abilities 'bore' and 'dig' meant that you could dig for stuff whenever you felt like it.

Bore and Burrow actually!
And i think they Increase Dig succes (?) and the Variety of Items you're able to dig up.
Some of the items dug up that require Bore/Burrow are actually quite nice.

I think the current system of chocobo's works fine... maybe if they let you use chocobo's inside abyssea that'd be cool ;o
it would be nice if you could pay somebody to raise one for you also .. and just buy the finished product.

You sort of can just by buying the cards - you can get all the hard parts of breeding out of the way by buying chococards with any colour/ability combination you could possibly want. Yes, you still have to wait for it to grow up and check on it a few times - but again - why should you enjoy the reward without the effort?

Attaining a Choco that you can call is a reward for a quest. Also, like many of the other quests, your type of reward can be controlled by you. Man up like the rest of the people who can call a Choco and raise one.
p.s. - Add the ability to call them in WotG. Since you can already rent one in those zones, I'm not certain why they aren't callable in those zones.

When I said people should take full advantage of these forums and provide ideas I never meant for them to go on a rampage of convenience ideas. More like content ideas or whatnot...
Anytime an idea starts with "I shouldn't have to do..." you should stop and go, oh, yeah, right. There's a reason this game is different from the others. In the future I suggest if you're going to make these kinds of suggestions, you leave out the wording about wasting of one's time, couldn't care less, etc. You'll also get less negative feedback on your ideas when the threads aren't along the lines of demanding rather than suggesting.
For example:
I suggest there be a version 2.0 of the chocobo neck item in game. This version will basically allow you to call a regular chocobo instead of going through a NPC and renting. This item should be obtained through a really time consuming and hard quest or cost a pretty gil. Essentially it will be a "lifetime chocobo pass" of sorts. 1/1 charge, 10 minute timer. Also you can use this at level 1 as a side bonus for completing the quest(forget about it if bought)
Possible quest - Raise 100 chocobos to adulthood.
Possible purchase price: 1 million gil.
See, it's not hard to be civil and proper with your suggestions. People praise it. People trash it. Everyone moves on after wards.
I already have my own max speed blue chocobo. But I really wanted Black but you know how that goes have to take what the random number generator gives you. However I still like to see it be made easier because raising it and checking it every day isn't what I call fun.

What wrong with renting? its only like about 100 odd gil, that's not even going to break the bank from some one that can't even make gil.
And we got permanent chocobo, its call breading.
If you don't want to spend time breeding a chocobo, why are you playing a game in the first place?

You deffently would perfer wow then, wasting time playing ffxi?
I enjoy ffxi because of the time it takes to get anything done.
Back in the days when it was first released in the uk, it was a lot harder to play than this.
I rember before ToAU that grinding at lvl 66+ could take days special if you did not have acsses to sky.
What you saying is, don't make me work for my game I want to have everything now.
You defently sound like a wow player to me.
