Basically store it or chuck it.
It was only added for the people that have limited time, or that solo, whereas HQ is there for the others.

This gear is to serve as a placeholder until you receive an HQ piece. I suspect if a +2 piece were to be released, you'd also throw away the +1.

I wouldn't say it's a placeholder. It's more for people who can't stand the monotony of spamming the same fight over and over.
