I have been a fan of ballista since the beginning i would like to see some type of new PvP
come into play or add on to ballista
maybe have some time of wager system or something like that.
Obviously there is no effort into PvP anymore since the level caps for ballista are still
30 40 50 60 and uncap lol... no 70 or 75 or 80 or 85...
Equipment rewards would also be awesome
or maybe find sometihng we can spend our chevrons on..
Just thoughts but would be appreciated.

Would be nice if we could Spend Chevrons on Ballista specific Gear.
Like you have gear with "Garrison: Refresh" or "Garrison: HP+20~" It would be nice if we had Armor for Ballista only that was like... Armor that in itself is relatively low level (Cause Ballista is as low as (20?)) like say something along the lines of :
Combatants Visor
Lv. 50 DEF:25
Ballista:
HP+40~ STR+5~ DEX+5~
Accuracy +5~ Attack+5~
Haste+3%~
that by level 90 would have stats like
HP+100 STR+13 DEX+13
Accuracy+13 Attack+13
Haste+7%
(Please note not the above stats, I'm simply using them as an Example)
Outside of Ballista, it would just be a fancy-head armor with DEF, Inside Ballista it would be a top-tier Item, as to not out-date Out-of-Ballista gear, because if it did it would force players who do not enjoy Ballista to participate in PVP for the best items.
I like the Idea of Expanding Ballista to Include that kind of stuff. Could be a Gear set for each job type active only in Ballista, Mage(Heal), Mage(Nuke), Light DD(EVA), Light DD(Atk), Heavy DD(DEF/PDT), Heavy DD(Atk) etc etc.
For instance a WHM armor (as an example like)
Field Medics Tabard
Lv.50 DEF:20
Ballista:
HP+20~ MP+40~ MND+5~
Damage Taken -5%~
Cure Potency +5%~
Enhances Resistance to All Status Ailments (5% "Resist!" rate)
*Which By level 90 might look like
HP+70 MP+100 MND+15
Damage Taken -15%
Cure Potency =15%
Enhances Resistance to All Status Ailments (15% "Resist!" Rate)
(Again, The Exact Above stats are simply used as Demonstration purposes, To explain my Idea of "Low Level Armor Specific to Ballista, become more powerful as you level up)
Each one could have Training-Like Names to match the "Theme" of Ballista.
"Combatants..." (Heavy DD's)
"Field Medics..." (healers)
"Strategists..." (Nukers/Debuffers)
"Field Scouts..." (Thief/Rng, etc)
"Commanders..." (Tank-type?)
"Prefects..." (Lighter-armor DD atk, PUP, MNK)

This thread died fast :o
You'd think the one dude who caused my Signature to be added would have an opinion on Ideas for Improving PVP.

i hate PvP and imo FFXI is more of a community based game, me and alot of others i know have the same feeling, if you want grear PvP play WoW or FPS games. i personally dont see the need for it as i personally rather work as a team killing mobs instead of others.
yeah i have purposely killed another person who is charmed (happened in abyssea but lolexp these days) but that was with friend and they was able to laugh it off

Thank you!
But, You're not Forced to Participate in PVP. I understand your dislike for the Event, I too once shared it. But really, If PVP got an Improvement and offered Items/Gear specific to PVP, would it hurt you?
Assuming they had the Production time/Development Time. Even if FFXI isn't a PVP-Centric Game, an Improvement to that System for those people who do Enjoy it isn't some Major sin.
I don't think it would be a bad addition to the game :|

Some of the most fun I have ever had was when my social LS reserved Brenner and we had duels on the beach. Something to this effect, a dueling system, perhaps with a way to wager on the outcome would be fun and an interesting addition to the game. Perhaps repurpose 1 of the 4 arena's in whitegate for player matches.
I'd like to see PvP...Conflict...Ballista revived!
Was and still is one of the best optional events in FINAL FANTASY XI.
Alterations that can be made to keep Ballista going:
Lower Player requirements for matches to launch to 2.
Why was it even limited to only launch with 6 or more players to begin with in Official Ballista Matches?
I'd like to see a new form of PvP that involves a "Campaign-like" feature.
Who wouldn't find several new ways to play PvP interesting?
My thoughts:
Capture the Flag:
Capture the Enemy Flag
(Can be done with or without NPC.)
Each team has 3 advanced Warrior NPC to stay on the offensive and try to capture the enemy flag.
(The respawn of NPCs will be 2~3min upon being defeated.)
Each team has an advanced Paladin NPC that guards the flag.
(This will be the General, in a sense. Will have a 5min respawn time upon being defeated.)
Should the flag be taken from the base, all NPC that are alive will disengage their current target and advance after the player with the flag with an enhanced movement speed.
(This will prevent any players who were attacking the NPC from beating on them to death before they can reach the player that is carrying the flag.)
Team Deathmatch:
Team vs Team
Points are calculated by defeating players on the other team.
Deathmatch:
Free-for-All
Points are calculated by defeating other players.
These are commonly used gameplay modes by other games, so why not add them to FINAL FANTASY XI's PvP system?

New type of PVP Dueling,
If the player parties or alliance accept a duel they are warped to a battlefield in a no holds barred raw pvp 10-30 with a white flag in inventory and a 10-30min time limit. If blinking is issue players can disable glimmer so everyone appears as AF1 of their job type. If a dueler dies they're returned back to the spot they warped with healed with same hp/mp status they left at.
This works in free realms fairly well.
No free items, no special rules just raw PVP. This is whats missing from FFXI not a special battle system,
As for Zone Instances, GM Jail and mog houses don't seem to have wait times i'm sure SE could figure this one out.

I think the most important thing right now is just fixing the current PvP content such as job balancing, damage caps, etc. On Fenrir, players still participate in ballista with an average of around 14 members in total. However, many of these matches are very one-sided and it can get pretty frustrating.
Here's just a few of the issues/ideas:
Damage cap
Now that we're lv90, the damage dealt can get ridiculously high. For example, a well-geared Impact can do 1400 damage, Wildfire can deal 1000 damage, Stoneja can deal 900+ AOE.
Job Abilites/Traits
Like Provoke (WAR), which has been reworked specifically for ballista, job abilities like Snarl (BST), Accomplice/Collaborator (THF) and Ventriloquy (PUP) could be reworked accordingly since currently they have no use whatsoever. Moreover, there seem to be job abilities that are too strong. For example, Mana Wall (BLM) which decreases damage taken to 50%. Personally, I'd like Charm (BST) to bind since it binds for 10 secs top and resistance is built incredibly quickly, but I can see how it's a problem with its 10 second recast...one can hope!
Incentives/Rewards
Ballista JSE equipment or a substantial increase in experience points and money you receive at the end of the match would definitely be nice.
I really enjoy PvP in FFXI, I'm just disappointed that such a great system has been totally abandoned.

I had a lot of fun when PvP was first introduced way back when... but it died really quickly and I think for the most part people don't even remember that it's there... I'd really like to see it revitalized...
