View Full Version : If FFXIV devs can use FFXI assets, why can't the FFXI devs do the same?

It's not hard to use programs to lower polygon counts and lower texture resolution down. If both dev teams want to help each other out, then why not make this a 2 way street?
I see XI assets in almost every XIV patch, so I'm curious why it can't be reciprocated.

They did do something like this once for the crossover event with the Spriggan from FFXIV.

FF11 devs are quick to say they can't do something, even if it seems strange that they can't. It most likely boils down to funding rather than malicious intent or laziness.
There was a post here a few months/weeks ago asking about new art/models. They responded saying they don't have any more dev kits and can only re-use models currently in game. Yet in the recent AMA when asked if they could create new art, they said they could. So they clearly lie when it suits them, mainly in order to manipulate threads and stop ideas that are gaining traction.
Like, when people were asking for a macc/matt checkparam. SE came in and said it was impossible to even offer a baseline because the math behind it was too complicated...

One is a pet project, the other is the better project they uncomfortably have to tolerate. Guess which one will get all the preferential treatment.

One is a unapologetic shopping mall, the other is a game.
