exp chains not working

hi everyone,
i noticed while playing on mnk 1-20 the game isnt giving chains for exp no matter how fast you kill..

What level were the mobs you were fighting? What did they con as?

i was level 10 fighting in la thine mobs con decent challenge and tough.

is it because i had my fellow with me?
