For the past 2 days I keep getting driver crashes when I play FFXI..... I came back to the game about a month ago, and I haven't really experienced too many crashes until recently. Over the past 48 hours I have had 10 plus crashes out of nowhere. The only thing that changed was the massive Windows 10 update. I also reinstalled my drivers (clean wipe with ddu) and updated to the newest drivers. I set up nvidia settings as usual, and the game continues to crash. This is happening all over Vana'diel as well. I even crashed inside my mog house.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks.

Anyone? There has to be someone else experiencing this strange crash? I just played Assassin's Creed Syndicate for 2 hours on max and didn't have a temp problem or a crash.

You probably need to reinstall XI if whatever update you did affected the current installation. Also, Windows 10 has a ton of problems with older software even if it claims you can run almost anything under compatibility mode.
BTW, have you actually tried running the game in compatibility mode?

No I have not. Which compatibility should I use? 7? 8? Or is that in the FFXI Config?

Try disabling shadows, weather effects and other special effects and see if that works.
It was still under Windows 7, but back when I had my GTX680 ffxi also constantly kept crashing until I switched pretty much all special effects off.
Still don't know what caused this to happen exactly, everything on my current GTX760 works like a charm, under Windows 10.

Nah it definitely isn't that. I already had weather and shadows off before the crashes started...It is either something to do with Windows 10 and the update that just happened or FFXI and the update it just had... or my drivers... but I just reinstalled my drivers and tested other games... It's definitely isolated to FFXI.

Hello? Anyone from Square going to try and help? This has been up for a few days now..... I am paying for your game... I want some technical assistance. Your game is crashing constantly for me, but every other game I have runs fine.

You aren't going to get tech support from SE.

Awesome. Glad I came back to pay for a game that doesn't have any support in the official tech forums. I am SICK and TIRED of my game crashing. I need some tech support immediately or I am canceling my sub. This is bullshit. Every single day my game crashes a few times at least. I have tested multiple games with absolutely no issues. This is the ONLY game I have crashes in so I know it's isolated. Give me some tech support NOW SE.

So I'm guessing compatibility mode and reinstalling didn't work. Is there a way for you to roll back the update the broke the game at least? Otherwise I agree you'll probably be better off cancelling because it really isn't worth the stress of having your game crash at random times.
That is why I'm just not downgrading to Windows 10, it's a mess and not worth it until there is enough DX12 exclusive software to make the switch necessary.

Are you on Windows 10 retail or the Insider Preview? Some Insider Preview versions have issues with certain programs. If so, just wait for the next Insider Preview.

1. it could be that the latest driver cant be used (yes this does happen) the latest driver version that SE has tested is 266.58 (i do not have an nvidia card to test this on)
2. try windows compatibility mode set to win 7 or 8.1(if one does not work try the other)

What else do you need to know? Lmao? My driver crashes when I play FFXI.... It's that simple. It doesn't happen with any other game, and as soon as it crashes my drivers recover. When I play games like CSGO or Assassin's Creed Syndicate or The Witcher 3 or Grim Dawn this does not happen. It's is specific to FFXI... what else do you need?
I will tell you what I need. SE to actually log onto their tech forum and help people out? How about that?

Thnaks! I will try 8 and then 7 i guess and see what happens. It happened with both of my drivers. I also rolled back Windows 10 and it's still doing it.
