It makes me sad how this content went stagnant upon the release of abyssea. Once people learned how crazy the xp gains were inside the other dimension the xp one would gain in MMM became a joke. That joke became increasingly stronger as the other add ons were released and we were introduced to dominion ops.

What confuses me though is why hasn't SE developed MMM to be a foothold to help with magian trials. The concept of being able to use runes to customize your own dungeon imo would've made a good way to allow those who want to do magian trials to do it on there own time without having to wait on certain day/weather.

In the example that fire/light can be a pain to get at times I've always wondered why SE never released runes within MMM that would cause the zone to have a "weather" effect based on the rune they used.

The runes themselves could've come from the "Revitalization Team" MMM in which one of the challenges could be to go up against an elemental NM that has a chance to drop the rune which you are hoping for.

Then with that rune you could tag it onto a "Sanitization Team Alpha" along with the mob type you want to fight and feel free to cause destruction on the mobs in question within those 30 minutes.

I dunno it just always struck me as odd with how popular magian became and it's reliance on weather/day that SE never took the time to consider how they could fit it in with MMM cause iI believe that one addition to add "weather runes" would definitely bring back the popularity that MMM once had.

There are other MMM areas I would like to talk about as well but I think overall the above would definitely be a nice addition to assist those who may not have the ability to wait til a certain day/time to get the trial they need to get done.

bump, wonder why no one else responded to this thread, its a great idea, though personally i think they should just up the occurance of light and fire weather.

I mentioned it in another thread a few months later:

There's a better way. Add MMM runes that affect the weather. That way, you can make a custom dungeon with your preferred enemy type and weather. You could do it solo or with friends or even a pickup group looking for the same enemies.

This would be great. It would give the Moblins and their mazes a reason to exist again and it would give people areas with fire or light weather.

this would make MMM a Magian trial weapon's best friend, and it could be used with the monster runes to make just the right maze for the trial your on.

I agree, "weather runes" would be a welcome addition and hopefully add some life back to what I think is a good system. I loved MMM even tho it was buggy and at busy times I'd get "hands of darkness" for upwards of 15 mins, it was a welcome break from bird parties,campaign, and other less desirable meriting activities. I still use it as a distraction when bored. Nothing like dusting off the old charm/Tame sets , loading up the place with 99+ hecteyes, scorpions, or one of my other favorite wild pets and going to town.

MMM had pretty much 2 things going for it exp and gear. However MMM also had a lack of good rewards. After abyssea, the new gear were quickly replaced before people even got the chance to obtain them. Right as the level 80 cap came out, it was a great spot to level until people figured out abyssea parties.

I think the weather runes would be great for magian trials, but it would make MMM just good for that.

Cause it would make all trials trivial and everyone would be done and have nothing to do thus quitting and no money for SE.

Weather for MMM would breathe new life into the event and help to solve one of the more frustrating issues with magian trials. I doubt it could be considered overpowered seeing as how you can only do MMM once per RL day (unless you have dualboxed chars or friends willing to buy a copy of your maze and boot it up for you), and there is a finite amount of grinding you can do while in the maze. Some of the later trials would require several mazes to finish.

Side note: they might have to accompany the addition of weather runes with more monsters added as possible targets (I think some magian trial targets still can't be spawned in mazes, but I'm not 100% sure on that).

They need to revise this and add tons of new gears and content. It is one of the best ideas they have so far but not widely known due to lack of explanation. It is rather sad to be honest. It's one of those "great ideas - crappy implementation - abandoned quickly and never to revisit". Look, instead of busy coming up with new contents, why not revisit old contents and ADD tweaked revised gears with comparable stats, and a few new accessories. Sometimes an idea is amazing but poorly implemented and communicated to the players, and god knows, there are tons of them in FFXI. Please learn one thing, risk = reward, make it balanced, and FUN ENJOYABLE FEASIBLE ATTAINABLE.

If the only options available to someone are "do (elemental) magian trials" or "quit the game," I think we have far bigger problems.

Agreed, its not like those are a massive time sink anyways.

I use to do this event. It was fun and different upon release, and had great weapon rewards to aim for. In order to breathe new life into this event though, it would have to be dumbed down. It is currently far to complicated for people to bother learning about it. Change the "sanitation team" and such names to actually describe what your goal is, instead of having to read up on it.

Also runes should be easier to obtain. I remember spending a week or so of doing MMM every day aiming for that 1 exp rune (before buyable mazes were available) and that kind of time sink is demotivating. Make more runes buyable, and make it so everyone in the run gets the rune that drops (instead of competing for lots on it, or YMYD).

Lastly, it needs new items. Items drive how frequently an event is done. Put some new shiny weps or armor geared to 99 and players will naturally come back to the system.

I somewhat enjoyed how difficult some of the runes were to obtain, honestly. Got pretty darned good at the treasure box MMM and my runs started netting me 50+ marbles as long as the dragon didn't screw me over. It really does need some better rewards to justify how much of a time sink it is, though. Could probably use some new, harder bosses too.

Bit of a necrobump but, I just think it bears repeating, MMM needs something to make it not completely ignored content. Weather runes or new gear, I personally would like both, but would settle for either.

Only if you had the right rune combination. Do you know how long it takes to get marbles to get runes? I do like the idea of adding a weather rune. I have a lot of species runes already and would be glad to put up copies for people to grab. However putting up each mob with each weather would cost quite a few marbles, which I can not afford, especially if maintenance happen and then lets say emergency maintenance happened a day later.

I used to do MMM all the time before abyssea. I even used the PL disband from party trick with 5 DDs fighting the whole time. I even introduced MMM to a lot of people on my server trying to get DDs for our exp parties lol. It was a lot of fun, and I really do like the system. In fact I literally just did 3 marble runs for someone in my LS that is trying to get the items for a fishing maze. lol.

SE give us weather runes please!
