Dial Key #AB on new characters

Does anyone know if these can be saved for the 45 days and used at that point or are they useless after the event?

I made a new alt character a couple of weeks ago, I'm getting keys but I can't use them until after the event ends.

I know that I've been able to use SP keys held on alts after the event where they were given out has passed. I can't confirm for sure, but I'd assume it's probably the same.
