View Full Version : Server Jump Campaigne (half price etc)
I vaguely recall this happening once, a half-off server transferring.
While I am against paying you money to artificially fix your problem servers (which is exactly what you want.)
I'm slightly less irritated by being charged half price. Is this ever going to happen again? Hopefully in one of these 7 week things?

That doesn't fix anything unless you can convince hundreds of other people to dogpile on the same server you want to move to.
Honestly, a merger could be potentially problematic now. Imagine the same population as the days of yore + everyone running around with a bunch of trusts. The servers might self destruct.
Good. Then destroy trust. Trust is a joke anyway.
People need trust to do things I was soloing before trust even existed.
This game is a miserable shell of the pile it used to be. Going from being in a group that does everything, having everything, to coming back and not doing ANYTHING, listening to the new players that think they're cool soloing (easy)HTB with trust. I'm disgusted. It's pathetic.
But if I can pay slightly less money to go to a server where shouts occasionally happen, so I can buy an aeonic, then quit again, i'd be mildly amused.

The grass is always greener... until you get there and realize it isn't.
I dunno, personally I still have fun when I get on. The game may be more casual now, but whatever. It's better now for me than it was in years past waiting hours for party invites because I wasn't on the flavor of the month job. =\

Please do us all a favor and quit today. Such toxic attitude...

He can't. By his own admission, he's hopelessly addicted.

It's mostly a detriment being on a desolate server. (There are a few advantages.)
I don't want to see a promotion pushing us to wildly jump to any server we like, for a discount or for a charge for a few reasons.
* Everyone may jump to Asura.
* Everyone jumps around. Some people leave Valefor for another lowish-server, and some poor souls come to Valefor.
* My friends split up and then I have to choose who I like more.
I'm eager for a merge with another server though.

I like Valefor the way it is but I understand why a lot of people hate it.

I think you forge stronger friendships on a smaller server. You may have a smaller pool of people to party with, but the ones you do meet will almost surely be more reliable.

Not at all true. In fact, you're forced to accept what you get. Shout an hour to put together a Rei NM.. You get to the point you don't even want to /check the guy who finally replies.
Literally: Beggars can't be choosers.

Personally, I find it very true. I've been on shiva since i started playing not long after the game came out in the US. It's not the biggest server and never was but I don't care. I have a great time and I have good friends who do stuff. I don't usually even need to shout for randoms.

I usually just don't shout for randoms for anything reasonably difficult. I don't mind pugging, and I love helping, but if there's something remotely capable of killing me, I wait for reliable people to log on.
Before I quit a few years ago, I used to shout all the time but it's something i regret these days. WHMs that can't watch status effects or party chat, BLMs that continually try to burst Thunder off Darkness, Paladins that think all you need to win this game is Aegis and Ochain/Priwen (or my favorite: paladins that will insist you cannot block while not engaged) and people that don't wear a spec of -dt gear and die very very quickly to aoes.
If you can't tell, the experience has soured me. I can't wait for SE to put my friends and I on a reasonably active server. Yeah, I'll miss that crab camp is free 50% of the time on Valefor, but that's about it.
Low pop servers like Valefor have some good upsides, but some HUGE downsides. I love that I can go almost anywhere and NEVER have to interact with another player. I love that I can go kill something, without seeing a dbag and his trust killing as slow as humanly possible. I love that the BC areas are never crowded. I love the cheap prices on things, due to the garbage economy.
However the downsides are MASSIVE. The dragons, I need, I literally cannot get the kills, unless I'm up at 4am. WKRs, exactly like thy were in 2014, tree takes 3 hours, miserable. I can't even find someone to sell me the gear I need for 10m (for easy shit that a sch could solo). There is NO auction house, none, it doesn't exist, there are no players to fill it. I've seen entire 24 hour spans where not a single shout happened.
There are 2 ffxi's, and I've played both. The one where you play with competent players and you accomplish everything. and the one where you're forced to slum it up with shouts. And that one absolutely blows. I'd rather buy it than deal with shouts, or have no shouts to even try.
It's a NEED, not a want, to change servers. It's GONNA happen regardless, I just prefer, that it not cost me $40.
Meh who am I kidding, I'd rather just quit, coming back was a mistake. Suckered in by the promise of shiney things.

I like that there's lots of unclaimed mobs on Leviathan. That is my idea of heaven!
