need twice to 3x the wardrobe space, so that we can put all these gears in it that dont fit on porter moogle. i have 14 jobs all with 119 gear, and i find it impossible to fit them all in wardrobe to change fast.

Theoretically it could happen after they drop PS2 support.

Well Mog Wardrobe 2 is planned for April update via JP Dev tracker with the expense of increased loading time.

I don't even see why there is inventory caps anymore, why not just let us hold everything.

I think some of you have a serious case of hoarding issues.

Instead of asking for MORE STORAGE AND MORE SHIT TO PUT IN IT!!!!! Ask for better items. I'm tired of having 80 rings. "situational" gear is making me care less and less about "situations".

Where's my rainbow ring for all stat +9. Rajas ring fix that was alluded to over a year ago. Rainbow earring all stat +5

I'm hoping they uncap the data transfer limit after they drop console support.
I would be happy with a wardrobe 2 at that point - load times would be near instantaneous (on broadband). No more waiting 1 - 2 minutes for all of my inventories to load before participating in a BCNM style fight or zoning.

As Mnejing has already kindly shared, Mog Wardrobe 2 is on the way, and slated to be implemented in the April version update!

However, due to this addition there will also be slightly longer loading times, which I would like to take a moment to explain.

Essentially, whenever you have items in storage, there will always be loading time that occurs. The more items you have in storage causes this time to become longer, and unfortunately this is unavoidable at the moment. However, leaving this alone would cause unwanted circumstances in the event that we add a third or fourth Mog Wardrobe, such as having to wait a long amount of time for loading when entering battlefields or other areas where time is of the essence.

As such, the development team isn’t going to give up on this, and they are currently investigating to see what can be done to shorten the loading times. They’d like to prioritize a speedier loading time when changing zones, so it will cut down on the time where you are not able to equip gear or use items. They’ll be trying various approaches and looking at this issue from various angles to make this smoother.

With that said though, there is still a possibility that this cannot be improved since it is an adjustment related to the core system of FFXI, and we appreciate your understanding on this.

Install a couchbase cache in front of whatever backend database you're using.

add a packet that sends all the items[id/count/slot] for each inventory all at once

I have an idea: Increase the bandwidth allocated to each connection. I have no idea why but it seems like the game sends data far more slowly than it really could. The amount of data that makes up all the items in our inventories is hardly a lot by modern standards.

Virtually nobody still plays this game on dialup.

Exactly what I agree with.
I believe someone did some testing and found the game is actually capped at a certain transmission bandwidth. I'm guessing this is due to the game being so old and some people on console started off on dial up or DSL.

I completely agree on the part that client-server bandwith limit definitely needs to be set higher, but not because "hardly anyone plays on dial-up anymore".
The decreased amount of players should be enough argument to allocate more bandwith to each client, even with double of what it is now we should see a significant increase in performance and that should be easily doable since today's population per server is less than half of what it used to be in FFXI's prime. Probably close to a quarter, if not less.

The hardware would have been more than likely scaled down since then, as a cost cutting measure. I dont think they would have the same capacity as they did xxx years ago, it wouldn't make sense. Adjusting connection speeds could also possibly cause sync issues.

another option

sandbox the inventory data when you change zones and from the last time you logged out

and if your worried about someone cheating the system im sure the server knows all the items that each player has and can stop them from using/equipping items thay do not have

im just trying to give SE some options

I'm sure many current players (myself included) have a lot of neat ideas to make the game better on PC. Just need to wait until after March ends before bothering talking about it.

In the mean time I'm just looking forward to getting that additional space for gear in April's update. ( •̀ᄇ• ́)ﻭ✧

I'm just over here still wondering why there is even a need to reload all your inventories including the ones you don't even have access too every time you zone in the first place...

Greetings!

A quick update on the Mog Wardrobe.

While I mentioned the other week that loading time will always occur, we’ve actually already begun making adjustments that allow you to use equipment a bit faster than before. What we’re looking into doing is changing the order that storage is loaded so that the loading order becomes the following: your inventory, Mog Wardrobe, and then all your other storage. The aim of this change is to ease the situations where you are not able to use equipment right after changing zones. Furthermore, in terms of your Mog House, we will be making it so loading priority is given to your Mog Safe, and this will speed up the rate in which your furnishings are displayed.

We’ll also be making some adjustments to the item loading icon so that there is a visual differentiation between the equipment loading icon and the storage loading icon.

That should provide a nice improvement, but I'm still wondering why, in this age of high speed connections available in all but the most remote places, that we still have data transfers still taking place at such slow speeds.

Good news but I wonder why SE doesn't just stop to load Mog Safe, Mog Safe 2, Storage and Mog Locker data when you're outside of MH.
It's not like you can interact with those items, yet they get "loaded" and this process requires exchange of datapackets between your client and the server, and this process slows down the loading of the items you can really access (Inventory, Wardrobe, Satchel, Case).

I mean, it's not like I don't apreciate the fact I can see what I have in my Safe/Safe2/Storage/Locker, I do! But if we're encountering a problem with loading times I think we could all accept the compromise of not being able to do that if this in return grants us a Wardrobe2 and faster loading times.

Even though you can't directly access those items, they can be used for /lockstyle.
