Hello everyone!

So, I have the FFXI Vana'diel Collection 2007 (brown cover, EU, has ROTS and COP expansions inside), and I'm trying to install it on my laptop.

The deal is, my desktop runs it fine and also has Windows 10. Here, on the laptop, I do install the downloaded Windows 7 client of PlayOnline, but when it installs and I put in the disc to install the game and expansions, it says that it can't find POV and thus can't install the game.

I've tried every combination, from installing the downloaded POV and then manually installing every game to installing the disc's versions and then installing the new one over them, to no luck. I'm frustrated and my subscription is running while I can't play.

Could anyone point me to a guide that works so I can get back into Vana'diel again? Thanks everyone and sorry for the long winded post!

Windows 10 is the problem, i've heard many reports that windows 10 will not run FFXI due to graphics or something technical like that. SE haven't posted about this, but your one of many that have the issue of playing FFXI on windows 10, its the main reason i haven't upgraded from 7 to 10, and will not til i quit FFXI unless it gets fixed

Well, I originally had it running on Win8 and upgraded to 10 (not clean start, just upgraded) and I've no problem on my main PC. It's just that due to my job I would also like it on my laptop as my time is more compressed. I'm running out of options now, and I'm too afraid to buy the Steam version. Is it guaranteed to work? I'm willing to buy if it is.

The easiest way is to simply stop using your old CDs to install and just download the whole thing from Playonline ( http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/install_win.html ) There's definitely no need to buy the Steam version if you already have your account.

So, I should buy the Ultimate Seekers from the Square Store? (I'm on EU by the way) Is that compatible with Windows 10, or at least less of a hassle? Thank you :)

You don't have to buy it again. It's a free download.

Download Client is one of the big panels there. They've had the client freely downloadable (the Seekers Collection installer) almost constantly since the end of 2013. Also, since console users aren't going to be able to use their console to play after the end of March 2016, the client is there for them to make the switch.

First off, thanks for your responses! But, on that page, I see the Setup.exe file and 3 *.dat files, I suppose the game itself. When I run the setup file, it says that the 7-zip couldn't be found. Should I download the 3 .dat files and merge them into one 7-zip, from what I gather? Sorry, but the instructions there are not too clear. Thank you again!

EDIT: I put the installer in the same folder as the (now downloading) .dat files, and it at least started, so I guess they must be in the same place for it to start. I'll wait a few hours for it to finish and then post the results here, it could serve as a guide for anyone in the same kind of trouble :)
