Impossible to solo final Rhapsody od Vana'diel fight

Why the hell does Square Enix let you solo through the whole Rhapsody of Vana'diel storyline, when they make the final fight that impossible to solo with less till non existing player support?! Is that a bad joke?

With the right combo of trusts this fight is actually quite soloable for many jobs.
You just need to make sure that your own gear also has a decent iLevel before attempting this fight, otherwise your trusts are going to be flattened as fast as you are.

The last 5 fights of Seekers of Adoulin were difficult solos too.

I've solo'd it on thf. Really the only danger of failing is timing out. Your helper npc knows arise and has auto reraise. All you need to do is pump out enough damage to kill it in the 30 minutes they give you.

The fights were designed to ramp in difficulty... so I'm guessing they intended you to share the last bits of story in an MMO with ya know other people. Of course if you've been keeping up you can still just brute force solo with trusts anyways

I had it down to ~5% more than once solo, just couldn't get that last little bit of dmg before timing out.
Then a friend and I solo'd it with ease.

Didn't have any idea what was going to happen going into it, 20/20 hindsight is don't put up buffs you don't mind the enemy having as he can absorb them (took forever for me to kill him since he took my shock spikes).

I agree with the op, why let us go through all ROV solo only to make the last boss so hard to beat. Off course some jobs can solo it if you have top notch gear but many of us just play this game for fun these days. I went in solo as thf with my best gear level 119 af, relic dagger and delve dagger off hand and i lasted maybe 10 seconds. I don't have an ls anymore like i'm betting 50% of this game. Tried to look for a group and nothing, just gave up and logged out.

I don't believe that it's this. You have to remember, there are people logging in during this free period wanting to experience this so-called epic ending to Xi and they can't because they're not caught up gear wise. There was a guy on my server the other day shouting for help on just understanding the game again because he had been away for so long and felt lost. Mind you, his drk was only lvl 92, maybe he didn't have anything higher than that, so imagine this guy or anyone like him trying to get through the last fight of RoV Chapter 2 and all of chapter 3. Now if there wasn't a free period maybe the case/insult that you're stating would be true, but again...it's a free period and a special event for the game and not everyone coming back for it has ilvl 119+ gear.

The good news is that SE made it so you get all of the best Rhapsodies Key Items, BEFORE the last fight. The last fight gives you +10% cap and access to Aoenic weapons, and a few other things. But the main big boost Rhapsodies KI were from the earlier fights and cutscenes.

So you can still solo the most useful KI rewards, and just wait with the final 10%cap and Aeonic weapon access until you can get a few people together. I actually admired the way SE gave us a lot of nice Rhapsody KI in the final stages of the RoV story, these were really great KI and all from the easy battle / cutscenes. The only KI they gated behind the last boss was the Aeonic weapons and cap10% etc. which isn't anything to worry about.

I know a lot of people who would help you with the last fight, if they heard you /shouting for help. It is a fun battle, and you should keep /shouting until some real community-minded FFXI player helps you out. Don't give up!

Hence the key word EXPERIENCE. Sure you can go on Youtube and watch the ending, hell I did and I pay for my account just like Angemon rants that he does, that doesn't mean that I don't want to experience the ending for myself and the same goes for everyone else.

Dude get over yourself. It's like what a week and a half...maybe two weeks free period? Assuming that they're not geared enough to even get past the end of RoV chapter two, they'll have to spend time doing endgame and/or praying to the RNG gods that that one piece of gear they need drops just so they even stand a chance in Reisinjima. So guess what? They'll have to resubscribe just to complete it. And so what if they quit again...it does nothing to devalue a game that I've paid for and played since 2003. I'm still going to log in and the play the game as usual with or without them with no effect on how I play or enjoy the game.

And while the free period may be insulting to you, to SE and maybe other players, that's a potential new player and new account, which could potentially mean more money for SE and a new friend to play with for the people who pay for the game just like you.

You want to be able to solo the last boss? Then work for it, do some RoE quests and get some proper basic gear.
Most of that gear is free and doesn't require any Endgame involvement, at all.
You don't need to own a legendary weapon, you don't need the very best gear around, just some proper basic gear and some basic knowledge on how the game works.

In short: Get better.

And this might be a bit of a shocker, but you can ask other people to help you if soloing is just too hard.
If you want to so desperately want to experience the credits for yourself, you can ask for help.
This is still a multiplayer game, for crying out loud!

Considering that the OP does make mention of "lack of player support" I'm going to go off on a limb and say that maybe they did try and look for help with little to no response, hence the frustration over the fight. OP if you are still reading these, don't give up. Like Shirai stated earlier, try different combos of trust and make sure that you're geared well enough to handle the fight if you still want to try soloing it. Meanwhile continue asking around for help. I'm sure that there's someone that isn't an elitest douche that will help you.

Even some of us long time players, due to limited time to play only have, at Best, lvl 117 gear.

It must be that i lost the will to get the best gear for every situation. And my alts don't have every job unlocked like others. But my RDM99, PUP99 on my 1st and PLD, MNK, SMN99 on my 2nd created char have a mix of, or one of artifact and relic gear 119 plus weapon and ammo pieces of that lvl. But that cloud always kills the npcs so fast and i just can't get it down before i get down.
I don't want to have to be a super freaked veteran expert with 119+ gear for every ability, move or ws. And i don't want to lvl other jobs on my alts. I just want to finish a story on them. And i think that should be possible with this low support from the people these days. That's not too much to ask for.

this is such a silly post, like anyone solo would stand any hope against that nm in roe gear, my gear is pretty much as good as it gets for thf but it spams aoe moves that kill me in 3 to 4 hits, sure i can get a bully off and hit it with a sneak attack mercy stroke for 10k damage but i'll only get one off. NPC's stay to close to mob and die and its aoe even goes through my perfect dodge.

So if anyone else wants to try insulting us that's fine, but if anyone has any advise on how to solo with a non mage job please let us know. thank you

Let me repeat myself, this is a multiplayer game and this boss was not meant to be soloed.
Yes, there are people, on several jobs including melee jobs that have been able to do it, and most, if not all those people will tell you that it was a challenge.
These people have been playing long hours for the purpose of getting their gear top notch and fine tuned their sets for many different situations, all this gear was not dropped into their laps, they worked for it.
And their skills? Most of them weren't born with it, they learrned, with their face firmly planted into the dirt plenty of times.
Success doesn't come from giving up and saying it's too hard, it comes from reviewing your mistakes and trying again and again and again until you get it done.

Information on how to gear yourself, and how to attain this gear is all over the place and a lot of people are very willing to explain how to gear and play your job if you just ask them and are capable of taking a little bit of criticism.

If you want to be able to solo that thing, you will have to put time and effort into getting better. If you don't, that is fine as well, because there's always the option of asking for help.
There is no shame to be had in asking for help.

By the way, for your information, I did not solo the cloud either. I teamed up with some nice strangers and we fought it. It was a lot of fun.

No hard feelings, while my opinions may come over as harsh and unsubtle, I never intentionally mean to offend or make fun of people. We Dutch are just blunt and direct in nature.
Also, as English isn't my native language, things making sense to me can come over as something completely different to others. I hope my above post cleared up my intentions of the previous one.
