View Full Version : Requirement for using /fume?

I've been going through Voidwatch lately with trusts, trying to nab the KIs as I go, but recently I've found myself completely unable to use /fume to change the enemy's weakness. I was able to before, but can no longer. The ONLY thing that springs to mind is that the last time I used it successfully was fighting Lord Asag where he managed to use Death to kill me, and it didn't work on the subsequent run or ever since.

Is this just some bug, or is there some other thing going on that I might be missing?

Make sure you have the mob on you, it won't work if one of your trusts is tanking.

Ahh, that'll do it. After posting, I realized another change I made was I started using Rahal to tank in case of anymore 1-shot kills. That fixed it. Guess I'll just have to keep my stuns ready and pray in the future.

I feel that they should change it to anyone on the Hate List, to be honest. SMN is my main, but I've been working on PLD to try to spear head a lot, but Death and Doom have usually ended my runs because I don't have the KIs yet for the matching screens. :/

I think if you have trusts out, the person who has trusts called out should be able to fume the mob should a trust have hate.

I can confirm now that that is NOT the case.

that was an idea for SE to implement.

Oh, the way it was worded made it sound like "I'm pretty sure it works this way."

I usually word stuff in a weird way, sorry lol.

What I meant to say was ..."I think voidwatch should be adjusted to allow the caster of the trusts to be able to /fume mobs should a trust maintain hate."

Tho it may be too complicated to adjust it in that manner. But it is a good idea to do so.

So boiled down, you have to be the current target of the VWNM to be able to /fume, and 5 minutes must have passed since the battle started or the last /fume.

Also, a simpler option than waiting to fume is to spend the 1k gil each on Phase Displacers at the NPC behind the Jugner Outpost, and just use them on the mobs that use death/charm. Each one reduces the level of the NM by 5, and you can use up to 5 per battle. With 5 Trusts, that will make the bosses die really easily. Then you get the clear, and you can go back to proc item drops if needed.

This was specifically to try and proc KI drops. Even if they're not strictly needed to beat VW now, I still wish to collect them.

MNK doesn't have a lot of possible procs. If you want to maximize procs solo, you want to use a job like BLM/SCH that has a lot of them. I've needed at most 2-3 fights to get enough white percentage to get the drop reliably on anything through the first half of Jeuno going as BLM/SCH. Also, Trusts can cover some of the procs if you build a party smartly, though you need to read the thread on BG to get the details of which abilities they tend to use.

Also, as noted, use Rhapsodies completion to be able to do fume more often, but that means you have to be able to take hate away from the Trusts, which means you maybe don't want to summon any that fight, which means you want to use Phase Displacers to make the fight shorter against monsters that use Charm or Death.

You might also be able to find LS members that want to complete that content and haven't that may be able to cover procs. I know a handful of people that play on Fenrir.

I'm a fair ways through Voidwatch, getting everything each time. So long as I have access to /fume, I'm actually not having much of a problem obtaining procs as a MNK/DNC plus trusts so long as I have access to fume.

There are no plans to adjust /fume in any way, and this includes allowing the player who has summoned alter egos to freely /fume despite holding top enmity.

You know, you should REALLY ask someone else to deliver some of this "No plans" stuff...

As most people will say, it's stupid to leave it as it is. And if it really is to be stuck like that, then there need to be an item that can be gained AT A REASONABLE amount then that gives max light to ALL categories. Because when you break it down, people don't give two @#%&% about VoidWatch outside of 1.) Relic Reforges, which have been completely outclassed by something else released recently, or 2.) The long asked for HMP/Riftdross. The drop rate for any of these items sucks as it is, and have to get 1500 of them is a lot to ask for... But nowadays, even getting a drop from any of them outside of something that is a log or some chunk of useless metal, is so taxing that it isn't even worth doing.

Sometimes, I feel that the Directors of these games don't even play through the things they implement...
