View Full Version : Trusts Option: Buffs on demand (Without fight engage)

Hello,

It should be really cool if we could have in the Trusts' menu a simple option to make trusts that have buffs (Songs, rolls, magic buff, etc...), to use them (exactly as when we engage a fight) but without engaging anything.

So we could prepare a fight and make the use of trusts more smart :)

I'm hoping they add a command like that eventually along with making it so Trust don't interrupt the casting of enhancing and healing spells if the fight ends before they finish.

I could have sworn that they said they were going to allow trusts to cast outside of battle back in like September or august when people were complaining about having to engage on back line jobs.

EDIT: Yeah, right here from all the way back in 2013! O.o

"If an NPC is in the midst of casting a healing spell and the battle ends, their casting is interrupted. Can you please fix this?"

In the future we will be making it so even when you are not in battle the NPCs will use enhancing magic and healing magic. (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/38859-Trust-Suggestions?p=484285&viewfull=1#post484285)

Get on it guys.

The development team has been looking into alter egos acting outside of combat; however, since their logic is tied to combat it is very problematic to create instances where actions are used when not engaged. We’ll continue to look into this, but the difficulty to implement a feature like this is high.

How about simply tweaking & cleaning up the Trust NPC's AI? This way they won't do stupid things like walk around you in circles.

How about locations with instanced combat, Skirmish, Delve, etc, you create a Reive-like object at the entrance. Takes 0 dmg, allows you to engage it, and trusts can buff up, and you can center their logic around the item so they do not waste cooldowns like provoke and other important initial pull abilities.

To expand on Pug's idea a bit, how about a consumable dummy? A consumable that spawns a targetable combat dummy that lasts for 1 minute and takes no damage. That could be a useful way to solve the problem without having to change Trust combat logic, and can be used anywhere there is combat.

Those are really good ideas. A portable Blank Card dummy, Orastery-certified. And heck, they could add those properties to the dummies at the Orastery in Port Windy as well.

PS > Could put it on a ring with a low 1/1 recast. And if you want to go the extra step could make it a reward from an Orastery Quest.
PPS > Alternatively could make it a /command
