View Full Version : [Devs] More Skillchain initiating Trusts

Would it be possible to change some of the damage dealing trusts (at least one per weapon type) so they open skill chains rather than always trying to close them? Like Ayame does.

I say this because there hasn't been a time when I don't out damage Trusts, so having them all trying to close SC rather than open it for me seems like a huge waste in most cases.

A perfect candidate for this would be Qultada. Since we usually have him out for Corsair Roll having him trying to close skillchains tends to get in the way, when he could instead be helping to open more SC for better party synergy.

PS > Unless there are already other Trust that open SC for players and that I never noticed that is. :p

This times a million. Currently, Ayame is the only one who will open SC's for you. Which is stupid, considering the number of melee trusts there are. Now, I may be incorrect about Ayame being the only one who does it, and if I am, please tell me who else does it. It seems stupid that they all want to close. I mean sure, there are some who have synergy and will SC together. And that's awesome.

Qultada would be a perfect candidate, as he has access to two different weaponskill types. There are so many melee trusts that never get used because all they do is ruin SC's.

lol, it's not that they ruin skillchains that makes them useless, it's that they are ACTUALLY useless, that makes them useless... interrupting skillchains is just another thing they do.

Trust white damage is so epic-ally low, even if they ALWAYS made double darkness they would still be trash. Ex: Zeid II is basically the only worthwhile DD trust, he closes like 50% of the good skillchains. His dps is still only around 107 with a full set of haste/marches/madrigals. (shikareeZ is pretty good if the target is weak to pierce, like 99 dps. the rest ALL of them are like low 50s, it's embarassing.)

That's unexcept-able.

ONTOPIC: yes more than 1% of trusts should be skillchain openers.

Some of the other trusts you can get to skillchain by tricking them. Noillurie will use tachi: kaiten after I use evisceration for fragmentation, then I follow up with a stacked Mandalic Stab. I can also catch her when she does Sekkanoki and Mandalic before she can Tachi: Kasha.

This... I've recently been working on obtaining all the WS quests for kicks and giggles, and every time I'm using a weapon that doesn't SC well with GK it's a trying experience.

That said, we have one "trust" already that has all the weapon types at their disposal, and even comes with AI manipulating options. Yes, talking about the old adventuring fellow. All they need to do is implement an AI option for them to focus on opening skillchains and you're golden.

Ulth makes a few good points, and I do similar to "trick" my Trust crew. With Iroha, I'll often open with Savage Blade, which frequently causes her to close with Suien (Fusion) to make Light, and then I'll close double Light with CDC. Similar with Selh'teus, Savage Blade -> Revelation/Luminous Lance -> CDC for Double Light. Or, whenever Iroha's being a showoff and doing her multi-step double Light, I'll step in and close the second Light. :P

But August... August is the bane of skillchains, as it is told in my linkshell. Screams of "oh come on August!" have rang through the shell frequently!

I was also learning to trick them into skillchaining before I went on a brief hiatus, and now I am relearning the process spamming high-tier battlefields. While it can be fun to do (like with Zeid II and Shikaree Z, who actually do decent damage), I would like something a bit more dependable. Selh'teus is one of my favorite trusts personally, and I would love to see his SC mechanics changed so he willingly opens, but I understand he may not be entirely realistic. And I completely agree with August being the bane of all SC's. I've also found Amchuchu to be similarly irritating, though not on the same scale.

I think there are some good candidates. Tenzen II, Halver, and Semih Lefina would all be good choices, because they gain tp quickly. Those are the only ones I think would be good candidates off the top of my head, but I hope people add more. And preferably with a wide weapon range as well. I know Tenzen and Semih both use a bow, but please keep in mind these are just ideas.
