Has anyone played FFXI via NVIDIA Gamestream?

TLDR; Has anyone tried/succeeded playing FFXI on either local or remote networks using NVIDIA Gamestream, between a PC with a GeForce GTX 650 or higher and any NVIDIA Shield device?

I recently started playing this game again after leaving it back in 2009. My PC from 10+ years ago hasn't aged well, so I'm playing a used set of Xbox 360 discs, but I am interested in putting together a new PC for other uses. One thing that caught my attention was the Gamestream feature between some NVIDIA graphics cards and NVIDIA Shield devices. Basically, it's like the PS4's remote play feature. There are officially supported games, but the NVIDIA site says that you can add games to "GeForce Experience" manually. On the one hand, the system requirements for FFXI are laughable compared to current computers, but on the other hand, that isn't any guarantee that legacy support is going to run smoothly. I am wondering if anybody has tried playing this game on this hardware. I am particularly interested in the combination of a GTX 970 and either a Shield Tablet or the Shield Portable handheld, but any input could be helpful. This may all be moot if the mobile plans for ffxi pan out, but as I'm already considering building a new PC anyway, I thought I'd see if anyone had tried this out.

I'venot tried it with nvidia devices specifically but streaming the game via any streaming tool should work okay. FFXI is a slow game and shouldn't be drastically affected by lag- and even then, that won't be an issue as long as you're on the same local network as the machine you're streaming from.

Streaming games doesn't depend in any way on hardware on the device you're streaming to. As long as the game works on the machine you're running it on, it should work fine with any streaming tool.

Thanks for the response! I recognize that any streaming tool should be able to work to some extent. I was sort of hoping for input specific to the NVIDIA application because my next PC is currently in the planning stages, and will be based on the minimum requirements for Oculus Rift support (FFXI, FFXIV, and Gamestream support would just be bonus features), and I'm likely to go with NVIDIA instead of ATI. I had also been considering separately an NVIDIA Shield tablet purchase. So if someone had tried Gamestream with FFXI, and could tell me if it worked well, I'd keep an eye out for Shield hardware discounts. Likewise, if someone had tried Gamestream and could tell me that NVIDIA somehow over-engineered the feature into not working with FFXI, I could account for that before making a purchase. In the meantime, I'll probably try to find a streaming application that works for me.
