Friend is thinking to start, won't be on my server but he asked and I'm not familiar with current ffxi.
Can you solo all the level cap quests now?

other than the last one you were always able to; and using trust you can solo the last one now.

All LB5 fights except GEO and RUN allow Trusts now. All limit breaks are soloable, and leveling is soloable. It maybe takes 48 hours to get to level 99 the first time now. If he starts this month, he can get the awesome +150% EXP ring with infinite charges, and a 2 hour reuse period.

48 hours... Are you serious? totally solo or is that abyssea leeching?

Solo with trusts and exp ring, i can see 48 hours of played time (so if you play 48 hours straight probably)

You don't need abyssea, whether legit or leeching, for the best exp anymore. You can exp plenty fast just about anywhere.

I'm sorry to say but that may not be true for a fresh starting from zero char.
you still have to do some questing, farming and all of the LB for the first time.
A fresh experienced player playing NON STOP could make it in 3-4 days.
But a Fresh regular semi-inexperienced player i honestly don't think so.
here's why.
First you need to be on magicite mission (nation) to be able to do the LB3 and that one sure takes time to do, because a fresh Cahr need to unlock all those Traveling points (home points and survival guides)
And that one it does takes some time, specially for a new player.
Second, you need to do some farming in some of the LB quests, (seals-testimonies)
And if YOU HAVEN'T DONE THE RHAPSODIES you will face Matt ALONE and that one may take time to beat depending on the job you use.
the xp gain it sure is much better now with the xp boost and the ring, but many players that claim thousands upon thousands of xp, already have the needed KI or TRUSTS to gain that insane XP
A new char doesn't.
So realistically speaking i think a week will take you to 99 counting all the unlocking you need to do and playing for about 4-7 hrs a day.
48 hrs would have be nos stop ( no sleeping no eating and everything needed already unlocked and i say MAYBE )

It's more of a challenge if you try to do it at the earliest possible moment, but if you wait until you're capped to do it, it's not hard. Never has been. RDM was hard, but that was nerfed years ago.

There are plenty of leveling guides out there, and new ones being made with the current changes. 48 hours of gameplay to level to 99, including limit breaks is reasonable. If you have a guide listing the necessities (subjob, unlocking transportation, missions needed to progress, what the Limit Breaks are, and a pack of maps) then it's really easy to follow along. You only generally have to go to a zone once, because of teleports, and as long as you are reading your map and clicking the crystals and books, you can get back easily. Records of Eminence also provides a lot of pointers on where to go, and a ton of EXP as a first-time player. Adoulin gives a ton of EXP if you unlock it early to do Coalition Assignments. Even without the +120% EXP from the anniversary event Trust, furniture item, and Rhapsodies Key Items, you still get a lot of EXP quickly. Even 2 months ago, I would have said 48-72 hours to reach 99 was reasonable.

Can you do rhapsodies solo otw to 70 to get an easier maat fight?

Yes, the rhapsodies content that has been implemented in the may update has been catered to level 60 and up players.
It doesn't go through dangerous areas and if you find yourself in trouble with the NM fights (There's 2 of them) you can always choose to shout for help.
The fight that unlocks the key item needed to be able to summon trusts for the level 70 limit breaks takes place at the entrance to Escha Zi'Tah so there should always be a high level player nearby.

My advice to any new player is this.
.-Get to lv5
.-RETURN to your home nation and see the Rhapsodies CS
.-Talk to the Event moogle in your nation to activate the Event and also grab the FREE 3 trusts in the coffer
.-Get to 20
.-Return to your nation and use the Moogle explorer and travel to the other nations and activate the warp points. (sandoria, windurst, bastok, mahura and selbina)
.-Get to lv 30+
.-do your home missions get to rank 3
.- go to selbina to see another Rhapsodies CS
.-Continue doing the Rhapsodies Storyline until you are in norg and receive the FIRST KI (this one gives you 33% more xp and also lets you summon 4th trust)
.-Get to lv 50
.- Continue the rhapsodies storyline you'll face a NM but your trusts can help ypu very easy on this one. continue the storyline until you get the second KI (this one gives you among other things 33% more xp)
.-do LB1 and get to 55
,-do lb2 and get to 60
.-Continue your rank missions until you get the magicite one (this one is very important because is practically related to LB3)
.- once you are lv 60 and on the magicite mission , proceed to do them both there are guides online.
The only place that may get you killed is in Castle oztroja when you need to light 1 torch (you need to light only ONE torch not all of them, many people used to be confused on this one)
** my advice, when you are on this room have Re-raise on you, your trusts out (naji is ok here because of his provoke) use sneak-inv and go to the room next to the door you need to open, light the torch and RUN, if you die once you pass the door re-raise will help you.
Sorry about my grammar english is not my main languaje.
If this is helping anyone, i can continue lol.

The only fight between the start and the first KI for Rhapsodies is the ape in Qufim, which is level 60 or so. I'm not counting the level 10-15 bees/mandragora in crag zones for the item drops.
Getting this item is not hard at all.

considering you can get from lvl 70 t0 99(once you have all lvl caps unlocked and Rhapsodie ki's) in 10- hours i think 1-99 in 48 hrs is a good ruff guess
I did the RoV missions on a Mule a few days ago, went like this.
Grab exp ring new exp ring and popped it. talked to Trust NPC and did quest. grabbed free trusts from box.
lvl 1 war with +150% exp with kupipi, aldo, and Goblin trusts, solo to lvl 10 in west Saru.
zone back into town start RoV CS
head to canyon got 13 killing mandies for RoV item
head to Buburimu get lvl 18
go to Mhaura and do RoV mission to get free sub (dont need r/ex items)
after the CS where you get KI for subjob you can now travel to Norg for free and back to Selbina or Mhaura, never have to pay to ride ferry. Lets you avoid the whole airship pass to get to jungle. also lets you get the first KI for RoV, exp+30% +100% skill gain, 4th trust, cheaper HP warps.
If you have been doing RoE quests during this you should have the 10 needed to join a unity finished and are able to join one, this will let you warp outside each home nation and Jueno for a few points.
Edit: all this was done with starter gear on and a Onion sword, never died once.

is the 33% XP FoV/GoV xp or is it a 33% boost across the board?

EXP from Records of Eminence and Fields/Grounds of Valor is never increased in any way by key items or buffs. The +30% boost from each Rhapsody KI is just to what the monsters directly give.

as a new red mage, i managed to get to level 75 in two weeks. after that it started to get steep, mainly because of the limit break quests. don't get me started on the old man boss fight. eventually by 85 i reached 99 by semi-afking with trusts. people will tell you "should have went to abyssea." well atleast i have combat high stats. mobs beneath level 90 can't touch me. also i have a weapon skill that completely replinshes my health. i mean, there are skill ups gear you can wear but it probably feels tedious grinding when you're already 99.
im confident that i can whip up a level 99 in 3 to 4 days. but as a new player for their first job i don't think it's happening. there are exp trusts you can use but they are from the monthly events.
there are rings but this is the best one
http://ffxiclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Echad_Ring
you have 4 days to get it. all you have to do is talk to a moogle locating in each starting cities

Did you get the Rhapsodies KI to use Trust with Maat? That was added this month, and between that and the ring, that's why I say 40 hours. All of the first 5 LB quests have been adjusted so that Trust can help you solo them. You can use Trusts to take aggro while you get the ???s needed instead of farming items from high level mobs, and the ???s for the NMs in Xarcabard are always up now, so you just need a tank Trust to provoke and hold hate while you touch the ??? and run away. Maat is absolutely broken with 4 Trusts out beating on him.
Skillups are easy to catch up with the pages from Sparks and the AH, or by using Reives or Zvahl Fortalices.

Seems like just running in, hitting the ???, and running out again works well enough, even without a tank trust. The NMs don't seem to chase very long (although you'll probably aggro other stuff outside.) I managed to -- just barely -- kill the first NM with my trusts, but it was a little too close for comfort. The hound ended up killing me (I got him to around 17%) but I had already got the item so I didn't really care. Kind of felt guilty not killing all three before taking the items but meh, I just wanted to be done with it.

Is there an up-to-date leveling guide for 2015?
I solo'ed to 30, but after that, I'm not sure where to find mobs to get to 40/50/60 ....I have no idea where to go at all.
1.) Which locations/mobs will ensure I can get to 99 in 48 hours? Thank you!
2.) What's the fastest way to get 99? (or say, top 3 fastest ways?) I have kupofried, 2 new rings, Moghancement: Bounty, etc).
when ever I would lvl a job I would go
1-10 home nation (anything)
10-14 Kon. highlands (entrance mobs, lizards, saplings, worms)
14-25 Gusgen mines (GoV skeletons)
25-30+ Qufim (crabs, worms, fish)
30-35 Yuhtunga jungle (mandies and goblins)
35-40 yhoator jungle(mandies, lizards, and goblins)
40-60 crawler's nest (40-50+ crawlers/bees GoV) (50-60+ lizards/saplings GoV)
60-75+ The Boyahda Tree (GoV rabbit/mandies)
the thing to remember with GoV is the bonus exp you get increase until you earn x2 the base, you'll keep it until you zone. but it will stay even if you log out.
after 75 its up to you where to go, so many different places that give good EXP

Looking at the FoV/GoV pages on the wiki will give you a level range for enemies to kill, so you know where to travel to for a target. There's lots of choices, you just need to follow a path that gives you plenty of Even Match to Very Tough enemies.
you just need to fp;;pw [ath thats "You just need to follow a path" incase you cant read gibberish

You level so fast with new ring, Kupofried trust, and clock moghancement on that it takes longer to run through the zones to the next batch of DC+ mobs than it does to fight.
You can grab refresh/reraise/food buffs from FoV books, but you will rarely finish trials since you level out of them too fast at first.
Path is pretty similar for each nation:
Right outside of town (ronf, saru, etc) kill easiest mobs and gain a level every 1 to 2 kills.
Just head towards the next zone exit killing as you go and you should be 14+ by the time you get there
Arrive in crag zones, kill your way to Valkrum/Buru and kill until about 24+
Warp to Port Jeuno, head through Qufim and kill as you go, head into tower and kill your way to the top , can hit upwards of 40ish this way
Head to crawlers nest or Garliage Citadel and kill til mid 50's
Can do Boyhoda Tree or Labyrinth of Oz to late 60s ~ 75
Supposdely new Escha: Zi Tah is really good 75~99 but there may be overcamping there from farming NMs etc.
I leveled RUN from 1 to 50 ONLY while waiting on "wait until next Vanadiel day" pauses while going through SoA missions this past Saturday. You can level from 1 to 25+ totally naked with just a weapon equiped (I used excalipoor II) sub monk for the STR & HP on ANY job pre level 30

Eh, kupofried doesn't really seem worth it to lose a spot for a DD trust, I barely even noticed a difference in exp with/without him out.
From what I've seen, Escha has mobs for lvl 50-60 then 97+, nothing really in between. Lvled my thf from 56 to 87 over the last day and a half, going to a few different zones, killing T-VT with the new ring on, getting about 4k-7k a kill, without ring, it's about 1k-2k, DC were starting to give less than 1k (never thought I'd say 700 exp a kill was bad lol), so I'd just move to a different zone.
Went from Escha at 56 until about 61, then did bostaunieux until around 68-70, then zeruhn took me until around 75ish, then outer horutoto until 82ish. I came upon a lvling guide someone made a few months ago, that suggested outer until 89, but all the mobs became EP-DC at 82-83 and the exp really wasn't worth the time anymore, so I moved to dangruf wadi on goblins, rabbits and worms, which so far has taken me to 87 atm
The new ring is really nice, kind of a shame it wears after like a lvl and a half or so lol But with trusts, you can easily kill T-VT and get a good 4k+ exp a kill in maybe 30-40 seconds depending on your job. In case someone's curious, I did naja unity, najelith, gilgamesh and kupipi until about 70, when naja/najelith/gilgamesh started using other ws and stopped spam making light (naja seems to get tp ridiculously fast), then I swapped to Gessho, kupipi, noillurie and either aldo or zeid II. If you don't mind a short downtime every like 10-15 kills, go with shantotto, kukki-chebukki, gessho and kupipi and just watch things die in 10 seconds lol
Edit: Adoulin on mandies is great at 90, they're IT but die pretty fast and with ring its about 7k-9k exp
