A Steam OS release would require the game be coded for Linux, and that would require rebuilding the client. They are winding down development on the game, so that's not going to happen.

That's not a Steam Machine (although they seem to sell those, too).

That said, FFXI should run just fine on either of them (Gentoo Linux user here). ^^

Just looked the thing up and it's just a Mini-ITX PC in a console box, I can build that thing myself, with slightly better specs for less. ಠ_ಠ
As Dragoy above me has said, it's actually running Windows 8.1 because Steam has delayed its own OS.
So porting anything isn't even necesarry.
