Have no Visuals

Okay, so I can see the backgrounds and that, but I can not see the characters themselves. I can see names displayed, but no character models. I would love some aid in resolivng this issue, I am a new player, and want to play it, but if the bugs start in this manner for a paid game, it kinda worries me. However FINAL FANTASY ALL THE WAY!!! :D So please help me get this fixed. I have ran a file check and it says there are no issues with the files.

where did you download the game from? Did you do a filecheck? Pol before logging in > Check files > on drop down menu, choose FFXI > hit check files.

I remember I got something similar when I deleted local content on steam while I was still in game but then I got kicked off the game shortly after and had to re-install, as previously said, try a file check.
