Details:
Used Waypoint near AH in Western Adoulin to go to enigmatic device Ra'kaznar.
Character got stuck in download data and timed out in error code: FFXI-3001 "No response from the FFXI server. Connection timed out. Press OK to shut down". Each time I try to log in with this character since it goes into "Download data..." then times out with same error code.
Steps:
1. Connection timed out after trying to zone into Ra'kaznar.
2.Attempted to log back in.
3.Received the following error about 3 minutes after I attempted to log in.
==============================
FFXI-3001
No response from server.
Connection timed out.
Press OK to shut down.
==============================
4.been trying to log back in off and on since it happened and still same error code.

I am currently experiencing the same issue listed above. Two different characters of mine are currently unable to log in after attempting to zone to North Gustaberg.
Logging in gets to the "Downloading Data..." Black screen and eventually times out and produces the above error.
Please advise if a workaround or fix is found.

Fenrir server
Both characters having same issue, unable to finish logging in -- this began after the maintenance on the 9th of April. I had logged in successfully with one character (first in the list) and used a waypoint in Ru'lude Gardens to go to Mhaura, and it timed out.
Second character could not log in at all after update, just timed out on "downloading data" with error code 3001 No Response et cetera.
Thanks.

Please help needed in Odin Server.
I am experiencing the same issue and it happen when SE did that update April 9. I was fine when I was in my mog garden and east adoulin. When I try to warp to Foret de Hennetiel frontier station I get this...
"Character got stuck in download data and timed out in error code: FFXI-3001 "No response from the FFXI server. Connection timed out."
So now I am only able to go to select character screen and everything will load but will get a long loading time and a blank screen after that "FFXI-3001". :/
So i log in my second character and it was fine in seeks of adoulin area but i try to use that warp to Foret de Hennetiel again "FFXI-3001". Something fishy is going on in Foret de Hennetiel frontier station...

I have also posted in In Game Bugs thread and it has been moved to "Accepted bugs" thread so far. I guess their next step would be to investigate and fix. I guess it's just a waiting game with this "customer support" we are getting.
I'm on Asura and I'm running into the same issue. I zoned into out of Tavnazian into Misareaux Coast and I got stuck "Downloading Data" and the black screen. Then I timeout and received "No response from server" and "Connection timed out". I shut down and tried to log back into the game, but I'm stuck having the same issue

This is getting ridiculous and annoying. I was not able to play for the past 4 days now and have miss a lot of double job points and moogle login points. SE need to hurry up and fix this as quickly as possible. If you warp to Foret de Hennetiel frontier station you get a long loading time and a blank screen after that "FFXI-3001". So now I believe my character are stuck in blank screen mode because of that warp to Foret de Hennetiel frontier station.
So I created a new character and I was playing it just fine in San d'Oria. I even zone in and out East Ronfaure there was no problem. This is clearly the fault of the update. I know it's month of April and people think it's April FOOL day but it's not funny so please fix thank you... :(

I feel your pain Ata. I was working on my MNK's jp's too. Maybe SE could compensate us with maxed out GIFTS on all our characters to make up for this ordeal...
I am also having the same issue.
Details:
Quetzalcoatl world.
Trying to log in with two of my characters. First it happened to one, then it happened to my main, even though I had logged in just fine on that one a few minutes ago. None of my others seem to have an issue.
Characters got stuck in the downloading data screen and timed out in error code: FFXI-3001 "No response from the FFXI server. Connection timed out. Press OK to shut down".
I recently re-subcribed last week and have been having issues with the game randomly timing out when going to the character screen, or logging in and out would sometimes not connect to the lobby. However tonight is the first time any character got stuck on the downloading data screen.
Steps:
Simply choosing a character to log in with.

It's been four days since this issues was first reported by Sorne. This is not a random occurrence or an isolated incident and it's frustrating that this issues has not been going on this long and has not been addressed. Two other servers had log in issues had "Technical Difficulties" logging into certain area in the game due to server program issues and the problem was corrected within two days. Chances are these "Technical Difficulties" due to server program issues is more widespread than Outer Ra'Kaznar [U] and should have been addressed already.

Same issue here. I've gotten error 3001 zoning by crystal teleport, book teleport, and running between zones. Attempting to log in again leads to the black screen with "Downloading data...". Tried 10+ attempts from the same computer, occasionally restarting the client with no luck. I can resolve the issue temporarily by logging into my character from another computer, but it's just a matter of time before I get the error again. I haven't seen this mentioned, but I also occasionally get POL-0011 after signing into POL. After hitting the "Retry" button it connects with no issues. Prior to the maintenance on 4/9/15, I had not gotten an error from POL or FFXI in over 2 months.

/comfort Mizu and you too Dabs and everyone else; Stassis, Angelic, Alagos, Tolt, Smz and Lep... It's official. I am now FFXI deprived and exhibiting withdrawal symptoms. My second character is now lost in the 3001 translation and apparently Tech Supports are trying to convince us it is on our end according to another thread with same issue. I don't know how many need to write in on these threads or how many need to call in to complain but I really do hope it gets through to them that action needs to take place. I still try logging in every once in a while and def every day since hoping I'm at least getting the log in points for the log in campaign and of course in hopes that by some miracle something was done by SE to fix this issue.

Have had the same issue for better than a day now, on all 3 of my characters, (two stuck zoning from Western Adoulin to Ra'Kaznar, one zoning from Valkurm Dunes to Konschtat Highlands). Also have the accompanying POL viewer issues described by Mizukibuki. Really discouraging...missed out on two LS events, log in points, and am losing imprimaturs on two characters now.
Not the kind of experience you want players having after announcing that you won't be developing content for the game anymore, SE.

Issue resolved for me this morning, on all 3 characters. No contact from anyone in tech support about it, so I'm not sure how...just seems that if I can log in to pol without having any connection issues during the boot up, then the problem is fixed. Grateful, however it was fixed.

Just an update on my situation. I've now got two characters stuck in black screens with error 3001...
I contacted SE support on Monday 4/13 and they said there was nothing they could do on their end. The rep mentioned that many people with ATT as their ISP were experiencing the issue but I have Comcast. I attempted several fixes but thus far nothing has worked.
This support (or lack thereof) is infuriating. I'm at a loss for solutions at this point.

My ISP is Verizon, so it seems fairly indiscriminant. I've also noticed a weird bug since being able to log back in: my macro books got shuffled between characters, (i.e. my main's macro books all ended up on my alt, my alts macro books all ended on my mule).

Ok so we get this post by SE "Login Issue (Apr. 17)
Currently, we are receiving contacts from users in certain environments who have become unable to log in to services connected to their Square Enix Account.
Investigation has revealed that the issue stems from application of the latest Windows Update, which turns off the “Use SSL 3.0” setting under Internet Options in Internet Explorer 11.
We ask that users who are experiencing this issue take the following steps to change their Internet Explorer 11 settings.
[Steps]
1. Open Internet Explorer 11
2. Open Internet Options
3. Select the “Advanced” tab
4. Check the boxes next to the following and click “Apply”:
- Use TLS 1.0
- Use TLS 1.1
- Use TLS 1.2
[Affected Services]
- FINAL FANTASY XI Forums
- Square Enix Account Management System"
That was a completely waste of time on SE part and it did nothing to help. I did a full uninstall for FFXI and I didn't copy and paste my original file. The problem did not go away. I was on the select character screen and once I choose a character to play. I get this long loading time than FFXI Error 3001 again. I cannot play my main character or my mule character that is stuck in Foret de Hennetiel frontier station. I was using a waypoint warp in East Adoulin near npc Lamaron.
I created a 3rd character for San d'Oria just to make sure it wasn't my laptop, internet connection, modem or firewall. The loading Screen did not take long at all. I ran around town just fine as a Taru. =) I also went outside to East Ronfaure and nothing was wrong. My other 2 character in the select screen will load but will get that long loading time and FFXI 3001 error. This whole mess has nothing to do with the player of FFXI. This is the fault of FFXI game alone and it's update in April.
So if anyone else are still experiencing this problem please post and if anyone found a solution please let some of us know full details on how to fix? =)

I have tried that like 3 times and restarted my laptop April 17 and it did not work. However, I didn't do anything this April 18, and I try to log in my character like usual and it works and everything seems to load much faster. I am still puzzle on how FFXI 3001 was resolve? I don't recall doing anything because of this FFXI 3001 error it was a waste of time and I have lost many moogle login points because of it.
My only suggestion is try those steps posted by SE multiple times. if it doesn't work wait 1 day and try again. If that doesn't work than I do not know. Good luck to everyone and I hope everyone is free from FFXI 3001 Error... =)

My game has also been working since April 18th. I got 2 3001's really early in the morning, but since then I have zoned multiple times without error. Never used the IE fix because it's not really a browser-related issue. Whatever the issue was between XI & AT&T seems to have been resolved.

The issue might have been FFXI alone and probably nothing to do with AT&T since others have Comcast and they too experience that downloading error FFXI 3001. I'm glad it's working again for some people. =)

Hi all,
I had this same issue today and performed the following which seems to have fixed my issue; (I am based in the UK and on BT Infinity).
1. Was working fine this morning, zoned into Gusgen Mines and went to work, tried to log on this afternoon and received error 3001.
2. Checked my IE settings as described above. All SSL / TLS settings were as they should be (already checked).
3. Restarted PC, same issue
4. Performed POL file check, same issue
5. Performed FFXI file check, same issue
6. Checked my Windows restore points (system restore) and noticed a Google Chrome update (42.0.2311.90). Performed a system restore to April 14th
7. During the system restore process, unplugged by router and turned off my range extender
8. Once the system restore had completed, i turned my router back on, followed by my range extender (approx. 5 mins)
9. I then performed a flushDNS, IPconfig release and IPconfig renew (Start > Run > CMD > ipconfig /flushdns), (Start > Run > CMD > ipconfig /release), (Start > Run > CMD > ipconfig /renew).
10. I then tried to login to the game again and it was working perfectly!
11. I then zoned out of Gusgen Mines and vowed never to go back :)
If anyone is having the same problem i would suggest to perform the following, hopefully it proves helpful :)

People on my server are angered by their inability to login their accounts, if you want more accounts to fester away, the inability and inaction is all it will take :( I hate losing more people in this game to play with else this game will be FFXI Trust Online.
People have tried your instructions SQ-E NOS and it has not solved it for them.
SE Please give us a solution to this problem I pay for 3 accounts a month and I'm not able to log more than one in at a time! This is an issue please fix it, or compensate us for are lost time, this is BS. I am running into the same issue.I am infuriated at how it seems we are being brushed off and that it is a problem with the equipment that we play on (x-box computer w/e) this has nothing to do with IE or malfunctioning routers and modems like they want to think it is.I had my router and modem checked out today and guess what...nothing is wrong with it.Nothing is wrong with my net speed or anything else. I have 2 computers one older and one a month old and it gives the same error code on both.If they can't fix it admit, it can't be fixed and give back the money that we paid to play.I just got billed 2 days ago they got their money but now people can't play.Seriously bad form to loyal patrons that have been with you over the years SE.

Hello, everyone.
Allow me to apologize for any inconveniences you’ve experienced due to this issue. Our Support Center has just created and uploaded a new Knowledge Base article (http://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?kid=61599&id=20&la=1&ret=faq&pv=10&page=0&c=0&sc=0&so=4&q=3001) on how to resolve this error, so I urge you to read it over and try out the suggestions.

Thank you very much for your cooperation!

Howdy Camate. I ran into this error recently myself. I was zoning a character from North Sandy into Port Sandy - Port never loaded, the character dc'd and couldn't get back in with the FFXI-3001 error. I logged in to a second character on the same POL ID in a different zone and it worked just fine. No rebooting or powering off of anything. I tried to log in to a third character on the same POL ID which I knew I had left in Port Sandy and that one wasn't able to log in and got the same FFXI-3001 error.
This happened on a weekend and I called a GM and they told me to wait until Monday and call support. The problem cleared itself after an hour or two without me doing any of the things listed in the knowledge base article. I don't see how any of the things in the knowledge base article would make a difference if I'm able to log in to some characters but not others, based on what zone they happened to be in when I logged them out. My firewall/router won't be blocking a specific ffxi character. :P To me it sounded like a problem with that specific zone.
Ok I have done everything Open ports and all and I still can not get my second account logged into the game. I would like to know how or if I can refund my subscription for this month this is total BS, its SE's side of the servers not my side please fix this issue or refund my subscription or I will dispute the charges on my Credit Card and hang this game up to dry, its sad after playing since day 1 that its come to this, but this is retarded, and very stupid. I've been down for three days now and all you guys are doing is giving us the run around to other posts.

I've had problems like this all month. First time was when I tried to go into Temple of Uggelipah; all other characters could log in but not that one. I was forced to uninstall the entire game and reinstall and wait....8 hrs for the patch..ugh. It fixed it. Then I had this happen again when I tried to enter Kuftal Tunnel today; all other characters could log in but not that one. It did not resolve itself after an hour of waiting. I did check files for pol and ffxi both times this error has happened and it said "Found no problems." So I am going to uninstall the entire game and reinstall the entire game again. Honestly if this keeps up I'll have to discontinue service, I can't keep uninstalling and reinstalling the entire game every time there is an error every few days at random. That's like a 12hr ordeal every single time to uninstall game (1hr) download game (4 hour) install game (1 hr) and update 6-8 hrs, so 12-14hrs. Then I have to re-set all my configuration stuff...which is like another hour. Oh and all those tips you just gave us Camate are not helping at all. I tried all those both times and the issue still continues. Am I supposed to not zone into another area ever again for fear of getting 3001'd or just instant crash? How can I continue to play this game like this? It seems like it's just one single zone at random, and if you happen to stumble across that single "bad zone" on your adventures, you're sol and should uninstall/reinstall immediately >.<. Sadly that's the only 100% "working" solution at this time. Of course should the zone right next to you be the bad zone after you reinstall you'll probably have to uninstall/reinstall again immediately :( Something's broke SE, pls fix it!
I have a suggestion SE, on the character select screen, just simply add a button called "Stuck Character" that teleports you to a random starter city (incase the "bad zone" IS the starter city) (honestly I don't care where, just warp me anywhere). That way there is a simple temporary fix to get unstuck until you can figure out the problem because it's already been a full month and there is no real solution yet...you're still telling us to unplug our routers and it has nothing to do with routers. This would also prevent any further issues in the future like this from preventing gameplay. Cuz while I would like to go to kuftal tunnel and finish my af quest, i'd rather be able to play the rest of the game and just deal with not going there.

I have had this issue all week, contacted support by phone 3 times, my IPS 8 times and had a tech to my house. The end result is my ISP can't find any issue with my lines or equipment. First it happened on just one character now it seems to bounce between them all, depending on what zone I'm in. I have canceled my sub and will wait until I see some kind of response from SE to return. Happy gaming everyone!

I actually manage networks professionally and have been able to recreate this issue. Nothing is being blocked or dropped on the client side, At least out to the ISP. The only thing that the help article will do is give you something to do while they work things out on the server side. If I had to take a stab, I'd say that characters are being disconnected from the game without being properly dropped from the server. I'm guessing that the recent updates either caused the client to not send the correct log off / disconnect / zone packets or they caused the server to treat the packets differently.

I receive a FFXI-3001 error after every version update since January, I only get this error when logging into one character regardless of zone. I am able to log into my other 2 without encountering any problems in any zone.
SE support recommended to clear cache on my xbox 360 to solve the problem. Also I tried opening ports and had no luck.
After about 10hrs of reinstalling :( I was able to play again, yay? Unfortunately this is the only solution I could find, it have worked everytime :(

I hope that we find a resolution for this issue soon. I cannot log into any character, nor any account I own. Including on two different systems. No other application, website, or Windows has this issue. All get to the character login screen and time out with the FFXI-3001 error (server did not respond). I am attempting a reinstall now. If this resolved the issue, I wonder if there is a particular file we could rename/delete to quickly resolve the issue?

3 Days ago I started getting many error messages saying that the server was busy or not responding, and then kicking me back to an earlier logging in screen. At the same time I had 2 PCs zoning into the Mog House to get the blank "Downloading Data" screen for a few minutes, then getting the Error FFXI-3001 message (one came back later, but the other is still out). Yesterday a third PC did this and is now unable for me to log in. This is happening on two different computers using Windows XP on 3 separate accounts for players in both Asura and Quetzalcoatl. Why it suddenly started 3 days ago I don't know, since the Update correction was a little earlier. My internet service is OK, so I have ruled out my computers or the internet (unless it is a Windows XP problem).
I contacted a GM about the problem and all I got back was a form reply telling me to go to support.na.square-enix.com; it seems the GMs don't care and I am not used to using this forum and I am still trying to find a way to contact Tech Support so that they can fix this problem or tell me how to fix it.
I wish someone will tell me how to resolve this problem so that our family can start playing the game again.

Hello, As I've made a thread on this already, I'm having the exact same issue...
Zone into a specific Area > Locked out of the game forever.
I've tried so many different things and a few worked very briefly, but now I'm just locked out of my characters while in Western Adoulin. I've tried everything that page suggests (like 8 times over) including a full reinstall of the game and replacing my router. Its not working. I'm out of ideas and patience... and I don't like being upset :\, I had taken a break from FFXI and this is what I come back too, being completely unable to play.
Now that I see I seem to not be alone with this issue, I'm more comfortable in thinking it may be SE side... not mine. Because I do not exaggerate when I say I've tried EVERYTHING, its been 2 days since I started having this issue and very few successes have been seen.
it seems the GMs don't care
They don't even KINDA care, I just wanted to talk to one to have him move my character out of the zone thats causing me to freeze and couldn't even get one to respond to that.

That is why I contacted a GM -- all I wanted the GM to do was move my PCs out of the place they were stuck in (their Mog Houses in my case) so that I MAY be able to continue using them, but all I got back was the Form Reply "Thank you for...ba, ba, ba...go to support.na.square-enix.com...ba, ba, ba." I think I will try again to get a GM's attention and see if he will move the PCs, but the only way I can is to call a GM on another PC (I cannot contact a GM on the PCs that are stuck because they cannot even log on).
I am not used to using forums, especially as a means of Tech Support. I wish I could communicate to a real tech support person and get a reply and fix the problem. I bet you probably feel the same way.

Only thing I can say is that it can't possibly be an issue our side. This many people reporting the issue, and I can tell you safely I have tried EVERYTHING possible to resolve the "Issue" on my end... I can't even find advice on what to do next from places like BG and such... Its something with Square, and its got nothing to do with frigging Internet Explorer. The problem even extends to FFXIV for me, but not to any other of my MMOs, Guild Wars 2 works perfectly fine.
Plus, I submitted a ticket for this issue Wednesday and they haven't even sent me an introductory email for more information.

Reading the Forums has led me to believe it is a problem with the game and not just us players (I cannot find anything in common other than the game). Everything worked fine until 3 days ago, and I did not make any changes to my system or hookup (some posts have said it started for them after the April update, so I may have been lucky. Have the ones who posted those earlier replies have found a solution? If so, I would like to hear it.).
You have done a lot more than I have to fix the problem on your end (I don't know most of the tech stuff you talked about, either). Since it happens on more than one computer, I don't think it is a corrupted file is the cause. Furthermore, at the same time I started getting a rash of error messages during logging on or play stating that the server is "busy" or "no response from server" and then being kicked back to an earlier login window. I think they are connected and that the server is having problems. The PCs that are stuck are all in Quetzalcoatl, but another member of my family is getting the same error messages while playing in Asura, and I get those errors while logging online for the first time from scratch after shutting down or rebooting, so it appears to involve all servers in the game (maybe, unless the log-in in POL automatically tries to connect with the last server that it was connected to. But then, why get the error messages while logged into Asura?)
There is so much I do not know about this that I cannot fix it on my own. I hope SE hears this and does something to fix it or they will lose us as customers (not going to subscrib to a game I cannot play).
Chin up! I think SE is working on it now and will have a fix soon (they should, at least).

I've been having these exact same issues as well. Since i got booted the other night, almost every time I try to log into Playonline I have to "Retry" from one point or another because connection timed out and such. Seeing as how we are having almost the exact same issue...

It would be nice if SE would reply in some way to let us know that they are aware of the problem and are looking into it. That's what hurts the most -- not knowing if Tech Support is even listening to us.

I'm definitely more angry at the fact SE is not informing us in any manner if this is a known issue or being looked into than I am anything else, thats for sure.
I've tried every connection in my house and I still cannot access the game, and this was a work-around that worked previously, I can no longer get on even plugging directly into my modem (which briefly solved the issue). Everytime I make progress on this issue it happens again almost instantly. After buying a new router I was able to enjoy the game for a good hour or two before zoning into Western Adoulin and hitting the Death screen of downloading data. Of course, my brother was still playing and my mule worked fine... then my brother zoned into Ru'lude and got disconnected and could not log in again... but my mule walked into Ru'lude JUST FINE, but when my mule entered Adoulin where my main disconnected? Its unaccessible now too.
Its completely f**king random and inconsistent between both my account and my brothers and we run the exact same connection... I've tried not to let it make me angry but I'm just so very upset that when I decide to come back to XI to enjoy it its f**king up so hardcore I CANT EVEN LOG IN. The one time in a long while i've had the itch to play XI and its completely killed my enthusiasm. Even if I could log back in now I'll just be afraid the next zone I walk into will be the new kill zone and I'll be screwed and back to angrily trying to figure out what the hell is causing the problem.
I know Camate did try to help a page or two ago with that link so theres that.

Another key point in this issue:
While using the AH and clicking on the sales history for an item, I frequently get the reply, after a wait, "Search Failed". I am also getting kicked out of the Delivery Box Window, stating that the lines are congested or busy. So the problem is deeper that logging on, for it also interrupts or delays other systems such as using the AH and the Delivery. My hypothesis is that, for some reason, the servers are overwhelmed or not able to communicate back fast enough, so the game is timing us out if the reply is not coming back from the server fast enough. That would explain the Error FFXI-3001 that says I am timed-out while trying to load the data for the zone I am entering. But why is it that it is not happening to all my PCs? I am getting the problems with the AH and logging on for all the PCs, but only 2 of them in Quetzalcoatl are locked out. The others can exit and leave their Mog Houses OK. (So far. I did have one that did lock out, but it came back later and now I can use it.)

I searched back over the replies and found one from Camate directing me to a post on possible ways to fix the problem. I have checked and PlayOnline Viewer is an exception to the Windows Firewall, but I cannot find how to make it an exception to the Security Program. Furthermore, it is beyond me in the part about setting the Router to allow certain packets to pass. (I made no changes to the router, which is new for about 2 months, so why would it start 3 days ago out of the blue for me?)

:p I'm just curios as to which systems of play your all on with this Error happening?
It might be a good idea to include that in your post so more precise where your coming from into having more fellow players relate to your type's of problem with this related error code, Just a suggestion. ;)
Edit: Just a thought and it's not much but just putting in that the windows company is no longer supporting Windows XP as it's an 12 years old out of date OS into which they've now scrapped that OS with less security/protections for newer OS's. This isn't really all that important but thought Id add it in anyways.

First of all, I we are using Windows XP on two computers in my house, but I have read posts that players using Windows 7 also have had the problem.
Secondly, while logging in from the password screen, I frequently get the Error Message POL-0011 "Network busy or no response from server. Please try again later." I hit "Retry" and sometimes it works, sometimes it gets the same error message again.
Thirdly, while logging out in my Mog House, the game instantly logged out and went to the "Select Character" screen. Now, even in Asura as well as Quetzalcoatl, it sometimes does nothing for about 15-20 seconds after I click on "Log Out". If I click on "Log Out" again, it asks if I want to abort the Logout, which tells me it is logging out but very slowly as compared to 3 days ago.
Fourthly, after such a long wait to logout in my Mog House, the screen did not go to the "Select Character" screen, but went black and gave me error code FFXI-3100 "Cannot connect to lobby server". If this "lobby server" is the one that we go through to get to the servers for each world (Asura and Quetzalcoatl), then the problem could be there in that lobby server.
Add to that the "Search Failed" messages while looking at sale history on the AH and the congestion while using the Delivery system, it appears that something (modem, router, or lobby server) cannot handle the exchange fast enough.
But the big question is "Why did it start with me on June 3?" I had no problems with this before then (or it was very rare) and I made no changes to my setup. Maybe SE made changes in the game that my older system now cannot handle?

I received these issues several time as well. I guess I should note at no time when i received these issues was my Internet speed anywhere below 100mbs, and all other services were and continue to behave normally, FFXI and by extension XIV are the only ones effected by this lobby server issues.

Heres some information that perplexes me even further and makes me think its something funky with Square.
I was NOT able to log into my character on my brothers PC to get myself out of Western Adoulin, i experienced the same lost connection/lobbyerror/whatever issue when trying to log in... which means his Western Adoulin must be as broken as mine.
but I WAS however able to log his character in on my computer, which makes sense as I was able to enter and leave Ru'Lude last night, which is where he got booted at. So if it was our internet, it stands to reason I would be locked out of Ru'Lude just like he is, and I am not on my PC. So my Ru'lude works fine but his freezes him, and it seems Western Adoulin is broke for both of us.

My zone of hangup is entering my PC's MOG HOUSE, 2 from the Mog Garden and one fron Bastok. One PC has been locked for the third day, another locked yesterday, and a third was locked at the same time as the first one but it came back when I tried to log it in later that day. I have missed 2 login days and counting down the third.
I called a GM about a hour ago in Quetzalcoatl, telling him I was stuck and asking for him to move my 2 stuck PCs to another zone so I can try to get access to them. Still waiting for a reply. Last line in log reads "Your call has been placed in the queue."

And why did one come back? And what about error messages POL-0011 and FFXI-3100? And why did this suddenly start on June 3? There is a notice about SE doing something to the system that day.
So, if it is the router, I will try to hook my computer directly to the modem. I cannot move it and use WiFi like you did.

It might not be the router, the most likely culprit is one of the relay servers that loads the zones. But I don't believe its as simple as "lol its yer hardwares" with how random and unusual this particular issue we're having is.

I may owe SE an apology.
I hooked my computer directly to the modem and restarted the system and was able to log on to the 2 PCs that were logged out by error FFXI-3001. However, I still got error POL-0011 while logging online and "Search Failed" while using the AH. I took the 2 PCs out and did my AH and Delivery Box for them and left them in the Mog House, where they were lost when zoning into.
I shut everything down and reattached the router and now I cannot access those 2 PCs again (same FFXI-3001 error). I also got a new POL-1160 error message and about 3 total error messages while trying to log into the account. Apparently, not all the errors are from the router (just the FFXI-3001 error, I guess). I can access another PC on the same account. It appears that the router problem only affects certain PCs on the accounts and not all. Does each PC have its own packet number and the router is not allowing them to pass??
I know very little about it, but I am going to try to access my router to make sure the packets are allowed as stated in the Tech Support message on error code FFXI-3001. Why all the 4+ different errors suddenly started 2-3 days ago is a mystery, but we cannot blame everything on my router.

For a second time tonight I connected my computer directly to the modem and gave the router a rest. I logged on to the 2 PCs that were locked out by FFXI-3001 and moved them into their Mog Gardens. I shut everything down and reattached the router and rebooted and was able to log on to the 2 PCs now in their Mog Gardens, so it is NOT the PC that is causing the problem but the PC being in a specific zone (in my cases, their Mog Houses). It would suck if I can never let them back in there. I will use a star to travel from the Garden to another city and see if a Rent-a-room will cause the error. I read that one player experienced the error while zoning between areas in the same city, so it could pop up anytime while zoning somewhere.
If it is my Router, why is it only happening to certain PCs in certain areas. Can the Router differentiate by packet numbers which PC is in which area and not allowing it?
Even without the router it appears that the other delays, error messages, and failed searches are happening very frequently, starting, for me, on June 3. I thought I saw somewhere a notice of some SE maintenance work being done that day.

I had two PCs locked out with 3001 error in their Bastok Mog Houses. Yesterday I bypassed the router and connected the computer directly to the modem. I got them online and moved them into their Mog Gardens. They worked fine in the Mog Gardens after reconnecting the router.
Today I accessed them in their Mog Gardens through the router no prob. However, one went 3001 on me using a star to leave the Bastok-accessed Mog Garden for Bastok, and the other went 3001 when I tried to enter the Mog House from the Mog Garden in Bastok also. Now both PCs are 3001-locked-out again.
He's the weird part: both of those PCs are on Quetzalcoatl and home city Bastok and Mog House in Bastok. A third PC in Quetzalcoatl in Sandy also went 3001 on me on June 3, but it came back on later that day. Is there something about Bastok and/or Quetzalcoatl that is the cause? Camate replied to do this to fix the 3001 error bug:
Set router to allow the following packets to pass
TCP 25,80,110,443 & 50000-65535
TCP 1024-65535
UDP 50000-65535
Router
ASUS RT-N66R
I accessed the router controls and turned off the firewall and the IPv6 firewall. Did not help. The control panel for those two had the following:
Network Services Filter Table:
Source IP (blank)
Port Range (blank)
Destination IP (blank)
Port Range (blank)
(max limit 32)
IPv6 Firewall:
Inbound Firewall Rules:
Service Name (blank)
Remote IP/CIDR (blank)
Local IP (blank)
Port Range (blank)
Now, here's the $64 question:
Of those numbers Camate gave us for the packets,
WHAT NUMBER GOES INTO WHAT SPACE??????????
Currently, they are all blank, and I turned off the router firewalls.
The Windows firewall is still active AND "PlayOnline Viewer" is an exception there!
If anyone can help me set this the way Camate said, please reply. However, I turned off the router firewalls, so shouldn't there be NO PACKET FILTERING AT ALL??????
Btw, I like your logo, Karby.

The Firewall, Network Services Filter, and the IPv6 Firewall on my router are all turned OFF.
If I understand this correctly, that means there is no Packet Filtering going on in the router (an ASUS RT-N66R) at all, right? Then all packets are allowed to pass, right?

Quantum, I had this problem for a few days now as well and I think I finally fixed mine. I talked to other friends in LS who had this issue in the last couple months, they said they had to replace their router to fix it. So I took my router out of it did a full reset and restart with just that, then followed the instructions on page 3 of this forum given by someone else and did the ipconfig/flushdns through the cmd program, followed by ipconfig/release, then ipconfig renew. I also have to run my internet off a splitter so I switched my tv and internet cable around on the splitter just in case it had gone bad. After finally resetting everything I'm back up and running and have not had the 3001 crash/lockout stuff. Not sure if that helps you any since having to remove our routers sucks just to be able to play again but it seems the issue is within the routers to relay so I'm not letting SE off the hook it could be something they screwed up lately but if you're looking for a quick fix just thought I'd give a heads up.

Even without the 3001 error lockouts, we are having multiple error messages popping up trying to log into the game or selecting/logging out of a character. The problem is so bad that another member of my family keeps getting booted off the game by the error messages, and she is using another computer and account (but same router). And all these errors started popping up on June 3. Each of these errors causes a long wait and getting kicked back to a prior page or entry point. The errors are:
FFXI-3001
FFXI-3100
POL-0011
POL-1160
"Search Failed" while using the AH
"Lines Congested" while using Delivery Service
The one thing all these error messages have in common is:
"Server is busy or no response from server"
I have not experimented much without the router, but I think these errors (except for the 3001) still pop up without the router. Others in the house are using the router now, so I will check that out at a later time.
I hope that I will not have to do what the guy on page 3 said (his LS buddies solved their 3001 problems by buying a new router). Unless SE can fix the bug (if it is one on their end), I may have to do that. The router is only 2 months old.

Yeah I was having all those same issues, like I said only way I was able to fix it was to remove my router and connect directly through my modem. If you have others who need the internet/router the solution won't work so well.

I would just like to say that it's stupid that a game needs that many ports open.

SE, I hope you read this.
It is happening on more than one computer in my house, so that rules out this computer. If something changed in my computer on June 3 to cause this, it is unlikely that the same problem appeared on another computer at the same time (unless it is a virus from the game?).
I unplugged my router and gave it a good rest today, hooking my computer directly to the modem. Here are the results (unless otherwise noted, all happened WITHOUT the router):
POL-0011
This error popped up today about 1-3 times when I log on to the game right after the POL sign-in page and when the computer first tries to contact the server. Almost every time we sign in, sometimes more than one in a row.
POL-1160
This error popped up today between the various screens during the steps you have to click on to get to the "Select Character" screen.
FFXI-3100
This error popped up today many times while either logging off a PC to return to the "Select Character" screen, moving from the "Agree to Policy" screen to the "Select Character" screen, or from the "Select Character" screen to the "Downloading Data" for that character. When it occurs after you clicked on a character and the character is loading, it boots you back to the first window right after the POL sign-in window and then triggers a wave of POL-0011 errors. This error occurs around that "Select Character" screen.
"Search Failed"
This error popped up numerous times today while using the AH to see the Sale History of an item or a list of items, either while in Sell mode or just browsing. It mostly happened right after you selected an item for sell and the game pops up the sale history as you set the price.
FFXI-3201
This error popped up today when you could not log on to the selected character due to a FFXI-3100 error. If you select the character again to log in, it gives you this message unless you wait a few minutes.
FFXI-3001
I saved the best for last. I have/had 5 of my characters experience this error.
Character #1- First June 3 while zoning from Mog Garden to Bastok Mog House (Quetzalcoatl), and again while using a star to zone from the Mog Garden to Bastok (both while router attached). Without the router, I can access the charcter no prob, but cannot with the router hooked up unless in Mog Garden.
Character #2- Happened (with router) June 3, but I tried later that day and was able to log it in. No problems since (Quetzalcoatl/Sandy).
Character #3- June 3, while running the character around (with router and with no problems yet), but I entered the Mog House from Bastok Mines (Quetzalcoatl) and it went 3001 on me. I can access the character OK without the router but not with the router unless in Mog Garden.
Character #4- NEW today without router. I left the character in the Lower Jeuno Rent-a-room (Asura) yesterday and could not log on to the character today due to repeated 3001s. However, after reattaching the router, I was able to access the PC no prob.
Character#5- NEW today without router. Running OK out of Mog House to South Sandy (Asura) and it 3001ed on me while using a Home Point to teleport from South Sandy to Port Sandy. Without router, I could not access character again (keep getting 3001s). After hooking the router back up, I was able to access the character no prob.
In summary, I now have 4 characters with the 3001 problem.
2 of them in Quetzalcoatl Bastok (started 3 June) cannot be accessed in the Mog House WITH router attacked but can be accessed WITHOUT the router.
2 of them in Asura (Sandy and Jeuno) (started today) went 3001 on me WITHOUT the router but can be accessed no prob WITH the router (opposite of the other 2).
These errors are beyond annoying and are causing us much upset. My family has a player that has been regularly playing FFXI for 10 years now (she introduced me to the game), and last night the errors so upset her that she said she was going to delete her characters and quit the game. She is also upset that she has not been able to do any missions, quests, or leveling in the last week because these errors keep booting her out of the character.
I think I have shown that the errors are most likely not at my end and I hope that they can be fixed soon. We have Login Points to redeem soon and these errors are making it nearly impossible to do any type of activity in the game.

Tonight another player in my family, a 10-year player, got 3001s on 2 of her characters while trying to redeem her login points (Asura, first 3001s for her). She is talking about quitting the game altogether. Our house now has 6 characters with 3001 problems. The problem is getting worse every day. I have proven that my router has some affect on the 3001 problem (see last post of mine) but it is not the cause of the problem (and I still have numerous other errors without the router). All these errors I have documented have one thing in common (besides starting out of the blue on 3 June in our household):
"The server and/or lobby server is busy and/or not responding."
I wish someone will give us feedback on what is going on here and how to fix it or when they will fix it. I have tried all the SE suggestions they have given. I know that it is "just a game" but some of us players are devoted followers of FFXI and we pay monthly for it.

I am also getting this issue with both of my main characters (3001 error), GM says he cant do anything about it.
Ive also tried to log into these characters on multiple PCs. Anyone have a fix yet, I'm paying for 2 accounts I cant use.
I would just like to point out that this is not an issue with my PCs or router, I have tried 3 PCs, multiple routers, and 2 different networks. I can still log into mules on both accounts I just time out on my 2 characters that are having this issue, regardless of where I am playing.
This is obviously on SE's end, not ours.

Sorry, I just noticed the thread, so I will copy-paste my similar issue here.
Over the past month or so, a few zones I try to enter result in getting stuck at the "downloading data" screen, and eventually time out into an Error-3001. I try to log back onto the same character immediately, and again it won't pass the black "downloading data" screen. I log on another character, and they are fine, unless I try to zone into the same exact area as the first character.
It started out with Yahse Hunting Grounds. A friend who also plays had to log onto my character to move him out of the zone, before I could successfully log on him. Then several days later, it happened again in Port Windurst. Then eventually Qufim Island. And just today, it happened in Buburimu Peninsula.
I worry that whatever is happening, it will affect more and more areas, until I can barely play at all. I have tried "Check Files" multiple times, and nothing is corrupted, neither with my PlayOnline Viewer nor my Final Fantasy XI data.
I don't know what to do anymore, besides reinstalling completely. But if none of my files are corrupt, would a reinstall even help at all?
It seems to be connected to either the computer or the modem/IP/router, since a friend out of state can log on my character and move him out of the affected area, whilst I can't zone any characters at all through the same area.

I had the same issue and discovered my PeerBlock app was blocking a specific IP from Square. Allowed the IP permanently and it fixed the problem.
I'm guessing a blocked IP from some app on your pc may be the problem for some users.
Good Luck...

Applications like PeerBlock will definitely cause issues like this. Different zones are on different servers with different public IPs. Not being able to access a specific zone on a specific computer is a sign of this, where you don't have all of SE's IP addresses whitelisted.
