Hi, I think for new players or players with new chars, it would be good to have this campaign permanent.
I reactivated this month and started a new char and tbh gaining 150-400xp is ok when leveling 1 class, but the moment we start leveling the sub job or the MAIN class that we want to play well it becomes a real chore.
In the old days it wasn't bad because you were in a party with real players. and the xping was fun.
But today unless you do abbysea parties (some servers doesn't do this anymore) you pretty much have a long grind to 99 with trusts.
Having double xp permanent is not about DIFICULTY NERFED is just about better time enjoying the games content.
Here is an example.
New player starts with 6 basic jobs selects 1 to 30
Then level up to 49-50 a sub job
Then switch to Main job (the one we really want to play) and start from 0 doing the sae areas and the same enemies again.
On some servers they still do abbysea worm party and leeching is easy but boring and like I said not all of them do this.
if you make a new char, on my main char server . you will pretty much solo to 99. and not counting the prerequisites.
This really makes new players leave the game.
And like I said this does not lower the games difficulty in any way.
You still kill the same mobs people killed a long time ago (like me)

But even at standard XP rates, level up rate is HUGELY faster than before. Can get to 30 in like 4 hours.
Why are you in such a hurry to reach level 99?

no, its fine as it is, sure the campaign was fun. But whats next? if they implement it permanently in a couple of months someone will be asking for another double campaign, thats just the way people are. I'm currently lvling my pld and the exp rate in combination with RoE and fov/gov is fast enough.

I say raise, it there is no benefit to keeping it low. No one does sub level 99 content, so 1-99 is just a 3-4 hour power level session anyways. That or make is after every job you get to 99, you get a 20% exp bonus on the next job. 10 jobs at level 99, 11th job gets 200% exp bonus.
People who argue for not having perm double exp/cp doesnt seem to realize how much it hurts the game for brand new people.
back in my day it took months to get 75!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...................and no one cared...

The old content is not worth doing making people wait is worthless. Most mmos are only worth doing the latest content. If people have that much interest in then they can do it if they so please but making then wait to do the current content. The game is old and it is dead new players should not wait to be social because its hard for new players to really interact with people when most people are far enough as well. This is not a game as popular as other games so its time to accept people are not playing this game as much. They can no longer get the same experience any more. I think for new people this should be done they have enough they can do already to get a nice experience if this is still going to take to long forever I can not see why new people are going to play this any more. Just let them level up so they can have a social experience any understand why you yourself love this game that old original social ways can no longer work. All the old players not wanting change will kill this game you love if you can not except that I think its time we just let this game live for what remaining old players are left and then let it die its a old not so popular mmorpg anymore not will it ever become highly popular ever again.

The per-mob-XP is so insignificant to the levelling experience that if you're actually benefitting from double XP, you're doing it wrong. I get the best XP speed killing mobs that give like 50 XP per kill, but I get the bonus XP from Grounds Tome. Double XP has little help to low level players and is best for:
1) Building merits for merit point fights.
2) Farming Sparks when the ROE Limited Time Objective is "Gain Experience".
Besides, if you take someone who is already too impatient to level at today's speedy rates and thrust them up to 99 even faster, what then? Now they're just gonna sit around complaining that they can't get party for the latest content and ask that they just be able to buy the rewards from it.

I know from experience, from a couple different friends who tried the game back in the day, and more recently tried to get into it, that the current leveling system is kind of broken. It's still pretty damn fast so you're not going to see other people leveling (let's not even think about the idea of leveling parties!), but pretty much everyone else is 99 already on multiple jobs so for newer players they're basically soloing 1-99 on one job, 1-49 on another job, and doing all the limit breaks and such solo as much as they can...
This whole business takes time. If you're new to the game especially, and those limit breaks as well. "Oh hey I should try to play FFXI I hear it has great community" "Hold on bro, you need to spend 5-7 days grinding solo giving pages for a book and running around the world doing fetch quests before you get to play with other people."
The leveling design in FFXI has been zap you to the level cap and then get into endgame for years now, however that "zap" isn't "zap" enough for newer players. I think this partially explains why the game is going into maintenance mode: the game not having done enough for new players. Optimally, what would have been best was to keep leveling in groups, even better, 6 man groups. But if not that - if the alternative is solo grinding, might as well just make it take a couple of hours solo. And don't give me the "they won't know how to play their job!" Even now they wouldn't know their job.

I say raise, it there is no benefit to keeping it low. . It's not low. It doesn't need to be raised. If you level up the fastest way possible, you can reach max level far faster than in FFXIV which is already a fast-to-cap game.
You're also not thinking like a new player. as a veteran of course you're not doing early game content.

So race to the cap, then you are so underskilled you can't even do anything. Solution? Spend sparks for skill up tomes. Oh, wait, don't have a lot of sparks because you raced to the top as fast as you can.
Besides, with the new caps and recast times on xp rings, you are practically getting double xp all the time anyway.
