View Full Version : Sharing status between account characters?

Would it be possible to share status between characters? Since it seems the basic system is in place already that's being expanded upon with the above addition, like:
Satchel working on every character
Add-ons/Expansions working on every character
Delivering to same account characters *new*.
For example you have say 4 characters, 2 of which are completed with everything done like missions/nothing left to do in abyssea with all those 900 stones built up and so on, would it be possible to transfer/activate status between all characters on an account like it does with certain features like the satchel?
It would take out a lot of stuff for veterans who just make a new character, but in a post abyssea world, it's pretty hard to do things on even a mule character unless its Abyssea related. Yeah some can say this can make the game easier but honestly, you already had to do it one time on your account, if you wanted to play as a different race, do you honestly need to do what could be years work a 2nd or 5th time? I think it honestly would be pretty helpful especially in terms of abyssea when you have all cooldown abyssites and what have you, you're sitting on more than enough stones and have no use for them.

Stupid idea imo, cause that way if its transfered what will happen when new players join the game? there already a low amount of people partying and doing these thing new players need and some of the people that are actually doing em are using a mule...if they were to do what you suggested FFXI would Die!

No more quicker than Abyssea deserted everything prior to 2010.

Aby is only Leveling witch i hate also but when you throw more stuff into the chaos ur gonna end up with a game that no one plays...SE has done alot to the game and alot of ppl hate the changes if you make WAY more easy for the people who been playing for years why would new ppl want to play the game, level caps on alot of things already been removed stop being lazy...if you want to make a new character theres should be a price and that is starting all over no shortcuts

I think sharing the Ex items is more than enough. Period.

This is 100% incorrect. There is far, far more to Abyssea than simply exp. Seriously, stop posting, nothing you've said yet has a grain of validity to it, it's just you bitching about how the game used to be so awesome when you've admitted you've only been playing for two weeks. Your posts bring literally nothing of value to any discussion you've participated in.

Since you added the "Period." Explain your opinion as to why you feel that way which I assume doesn't involve making the game easier etc, since that is the current route this game is heading for already.
I don't feel it's "more than enough", since a lot of other MMOs offer quite a bit more "of account" benefits that's met with little complaints. For example, prior to Abyssea people felt it would be a let down and Square couldn't do anything right yadda yadda, half a year later? It's all people care about.
Also I don't see how this affects new players since most new players I've met were someone leveling a mule or quit shortly after joining because they couldn't really do anything with everyone in abyssea or doing nothing else as most people playing have done everything or near everything. All this really does is remove an unnecessary grind (having to reacquire atmas/key items to extend vistation etc etc) if you happen to level another character on your account.
Square is a sucker for detail when it comes to systems like this or similar (ZNMs anyone?) so I'm pretty sure if it was possible there would be limits.

I just see this as creating more problems than it is worth. This would involve significant programming changes. It involves multiple areas that are interwoven into the character. This isn't an item you are talking about. It involves rank, key items, zone access, and a host of other issues. Add to that the resolution of different characters with different ranks in different expansions and nations. I see this idea as benefiting very few people while creating a host of technical issues.

I would like certain things to be shared. Like airship. I would like rank to be shared perhaps. If anything is shared I do think it ought to be an option not default. Sometimes it is fun to just start over with a new character as a break from your main. On the other hand when you are using others for mules, strictly, then somethings would be very useful like airship rights. I would love to be able to get copper ores from the NPS at the ports. It is hardly worth 500k but it would be very handy otherwise.

I'm pretty sure that's why with even the ex delivery they're doing it slowly, which is why I don't think this would be too much of an issue since a lot of stuff I mention is mainly universal stuff that could already be tied to your account rather than per character basis (and is in a few MMOs I play because of 1 class progress per character unlike XI/XIV's switch anytime system) as I wasn't asking for auto rank up and the like as that's story progression, I'm talking about more superficial features like specifically stated, Abyssea stones for example, because for most people, we all gain more than we can chew sooner or later and if you have multiple characters, wouldn't it make more sense that, like the satchel as exampled, you get account benefits for any character you make on that account?
A lot of what SE added to XI over the past 4 ish years only benefited end-game players generally, even abyssean quests aren't that newbie friendly to someone JUST starting it, despite the level 30 requirement. Since as said only reason I even mention if it is possible because the basic system is already in place and they're basically expanding on it.
@annewandering
Yeah, not by default or anything, since it is nice to start over but at the same time, even with the 'easing' of progression they've done, with how abyssea crazy everything has become (and even Dynamis is starting to look a lot like christm-abyssea), it's pretty much a dead weight trying to progress through older content due to lack of interest or the fact majority of current players has absolutely everything obtained from said content and don't want to redo it.

i've noticed that ANYONE who says anything to do with abyssea and not liking it gets attacked by the trolls on this forum....at which point they leave due to the attacks....just minority huh? sure...keeping imagining that..it might come true...
on topic:
Doing that would be a bad idea considering players are lazy enough as it stands..giving them that ability would just makes matters worse.

How dare I correct someone who says something wrong like Abyssea is only exp. Really, how dare I?
And how dare I point out that everything else that same person has said has also been wrong? How dare I?
And how dare I point out that the very thing someone is complaining about when they've already admitted to having no personal experience with it? How dare I?
And how dare I say it without sugar coating it to make it sound like I'm trying to be their friend at the same time!? How dare I?
Honestly, how dare I have the balls to tell someone when they're wrong and why!? Why, obviously, I must be a troll! Krystals logic astounds again, everyone.

Instead of a new topic I'll ask/suggest this here also:
Was there any comment on if we will ever be able to trade/give unwanted AFv3 seals to someone else that's cluttering our invs?

I like that idea! I have not been playing recently due to several reasons and I'm so far behind on everything AF3/ToM and I have 0 atma's which I'm sure will hold me back from doing anything Abyssea related besides leveling (unless you need atma to level now).
I'm actually pretty hesitant to login to the game as of late due to all of that.
No more quicker
stop reading after that..

That's unfortunate, however it seems that aside AF related stuff they are pretty open to what can and can't be shared.
Artifact equipment, mythic weapons
Moogle storage slips
Items related to campaign codes
Quest-related items
Mission reward items, add-on bonus items
Synthesis skill and rank-related items
Items related to the Trial of the Magians
Guess that answers the question about not being able to give friends seals you don't need and want.
