Hi everyone! So i recently made a character on a different world, Quetzalcoatl, while i reside on Odin. I went to send some of my gil over to this new character but I have yet to find it in my delivery box on either side. I'm a bit confused and a little worried because I sent half of my worth over. Any hints, clue or suggestions to what's going on or what happened? Thank you!

It doesn't work cross server.

You sent it to a character on your server with that name. Mailboxes only work on the same server. Allowing cross-server transactions could break the economy.
If it still shows in your sent items, you can cancel the delivery and reclaim the gil, but if they already pulled it out, you just gifted your gil to another player. It won't let you send to a character name that doesn't exist.

Awe man, I wish i had known that. I didn't realize you could have multiple people with the same name just on separate servers. How can i get in contact with this person? Maybe I'll get lucky and get it back :/

unless you still have a character on your old server, and that person you sent the gil to still plays, and that person is nice.... you're out of luck.
pretty much you're out of luck, or go back to your old server and hope that person hasn't taken the gil out. either way, odds are you're out the gil.

Well first off, check the delivery NPC, the gil might still be there and if so you can just recall it, if it's already gone then yeah you'll have to get in contact with the player and hope they return the gil.

Yeah, you can probably just cancel the send.

the odds are pretty good that any given player name you type in is probably not an active player. You can go to the mog house, from the menu select delivery box and 'send' and see if it's still in there. if it is, just take it back out.

Character names are unique PER SERVER. So when the game had 30 servers up and running, there could possibly be 30 different people with my character name. That's why they've always had the issue with server merges that you could have your name be taken on the new server, and the character that is on the target of the merge has priority over the character that is moving worlds, forcing a rename on the moving character.
It's pretty easy to verify this with FFXIAH, noting that it asks for both a player name and a server name, not just a player name.
If you want to take items and gil to another server, you have to pay the fee for a World Transfer and move your character holding those resources to the new server.

Easy mistake to make and glad you didn't send your stuff to someone accidentally :)
