View Full Version : Botting in the Boyahda Tree
I was trying to get some Boyahda Moss to feed the sheep I'm raising in my mog garden, and decided that the Boyahda Tree would be the best place to find some. Only when I arrived there I found no less than three bots farming all the Elder Goobbues for Wisteria Lumber. I would love to see this taken care of as I am not a fan of bots, however the only solution I can think of would be to lower the npc price of Wisteria Lumber.

we have that problem on a regular basis on odin server. i can garantee SE will do absolutely dick about it. they wont lower the price of lumber cuz that would be unfair to all players. and they wont ban the bots either. i feel the same as you, but they only thing you can do is report to a gm, get told by that same gm to file a report with the STF since they nerfed the gms, (see dictionary under the word "castration") file a report with the STF and watch as nothing gets done. its simple. botters pay like everybody else to play. if they ban all the botters, there goes at least a good 10% of the current player population on any server. never mind that they are in obvious violation of the user agreement and TOS. its the corporate mentality, and that will never change.

Just how profitable could that be? I mean 3 bots in a small place like that just npcing stuff sounds like kinda meh gil in this day and age. I'd think any number of things would be better

depends. if u have a full 80 slots open and nothing but stacks of lumber ur looking at over 5 mil right there. and take into account that most of these bots are prolly mules, and only have thf to 99 with spark gear, they prolly have mog sacks and inv to 80 slots. 15 mil easily for just letting the bot run. and run they will. basically free gil since the bot is actually doing all the work unless somebody manages to mpk it they way they do reive bots. and i repeat, gms cant do anything about it, wont even poke their noses into the zone to acknowledge that its even going on. same lame excuse every time. "file a report with the STF". translation: nothing will be done cuz we dont care.

I meant in terms of gil/hr not how much you could accumulate before leaving. As you mentioned you could bot reives and there is no limit to the amount of balyd you can accumulate so some literally let them run for days which imo is kinda wasteful since you are going to cap sparks before than but meh

i can make prolly around 500k gil in a couple of hours, more if i save more room for lumber. if i was a botter, i would let the bot run before i go to sleep and just let him farm. doing it that way, gil/hr is irrelevant. when i wake up, ill have a full inventory and if the bot is set right, it will only be lumber. besides, like i said, it is more than likely a mule on a throwaway acct. just in case somebody actually decides to do something about it. for once, im actually glad im on xbox. we dont have any mods for this game to my knowledge.

Don't they just mass pull the goobues? Only one mob is claimed at any time. Just follow the bots and pick off their crowd.

there are usually 3 to 5 bots at any given time running, and 3 are usually in the main area with 1 or 2 off in side areas. and they dont mass pull, they do single kills with auto targeting for steady kills. with that many bots picking em off as they spawn, u usually dont get anywhere. i guess the bots themselves kinda shoot themselves in the foot having so many bots in the same place targeting the same mobs. personally, i think they should all be banned, but if SE wont enforce their own rules, they they should at least let us mpk em or have the gms do it. but, like i said, gms are nerfed and the stf wont do anything about em. i have even seen a lot of ppl quit because of the bots. if SE wants to ruin their own game, they are doing a pretty decent job of it. i cant really say anything good for their enforcement.

We've gotten rid of them a few times on Ragnarock, but they're only usually gone for a few days, and then they're back.

Well, if SE wont do anything about em they better not gripe when bots get mpked. all i can say.

I've seen up to 7 bots running around the top floor of the tree on Lakshmi.
Even if it was not prohibited by the TOS, I can't imagine how one would MPK them.

gil/hr is never irrelevant lol. It's what you use to decide which thing to do to an extent that's why I said reives since they are also mulable and I would think they would be more. But yeah didn't realize it was anywhere near that high. 250k an hour is pretty good. Assuming that's coming mostly from the wisteria that's about 35 drops an hours based on drop rates that would be a little over a 100 kills an hour so about 40 seconds to find and kill on average. Not bad with several other bots up there and them being spread out.

OP had the right idea - make wisteria lumber not npcable. If people are using throwaway accounts to do this nothing keeps them from making a new one when the old one gets banned. With that being said I'd imagine they'll just find some other way to make money.

Next thing u know people will complain that darks rings are 35k + ...
As I was told the hard way;
Enemies in yellow are up for fair game, so if a bot has more than 1, by all means...
If not, too slow
Play with enmity and holding more than one enemy, use input commands vs trying to controller, farm abyssea counter part goobue, ect

"Dear SE;
I'm pissed because everyone else here keeps killing the devil mantra, and making it impossible for me to know when I can successfully farm a joyeus" (2008)
Ruin their day by just using diaga and buffs if they are afk bottling vs making a good way for non botters to farm.

Righting a wrong with another wrong is the surest way ever to catch trouble. As much as it may anger or upset you about what's up in the tree, the best thing you can do for yourself is to find somewhere else to farm.

the problem is those botters can use movement speed tools as well. not too mention the lacking in wait times from kill to kill. it's funny watching them slide all the way across the screen while pulling or putting away their weapon.

Supposedly people have been receiving bans lately. It's possible that the STF route does work.

It's not just the Boyahda tree bots. I would like something to be done about all the bots I run into. It's just really annoying to have a place you want to play the game in taken up by people not actually playing the game. I saw someone mention that bots could just join reives and farm balyd. Well they do that too. There are also people using bots to grind out job points. The amount people using bots in the game is too damn high. Maybe the better solution would be to just give GMs a little more power. If they don't want the bots banned that's fine, but if legit people want to use a zone, the GMs should be able to be called and warp the bots out.

On the flip side someone on ffxiah.com is reporting that he made a character on an xbox account, moved them to vomp hill, and then reported them for botting on his main character. The character had never performed a single action but was still warped back to its hp after his report was made. I guess the guy could be telling a story but if that's true it seems like people will file STF reports for any player they don't like just to get them banned.

I'd be fine with this (referring to warping out botters so real people can use the zone) though I personally don't mind people botting so much, the grind in this game can be pretty hefty so I understand and feel bad at people getting banned for trying to reduce it, though I am glad when they nerf NPCsellable prices etc to reduce inflation, botting for gil seems less harmless to me, but still not something I really care about.
But yeah I wouldn't mind if say, players who stay in a zone more than say 4 hours have to answer a several little pop up question box questionnaire every 4 hours to be able to stay in there (In other words: prove they're human.)

While I haven't gotten a tell in a long time once a upon a time gms would go around seeing if players were afk (or fleeing or whatever) and do something if not. Some were rather funny too like [GM]Whatshisname>> Please turn around, wave and tell me which race is the best.
Wouldn't really take too long either 1-2 minutes to send someone a tell maybe another 1-2 if they don't respond at first to try a couple more times to make sure as things do get lost in the log then idk warp them somewhere funny like next to an nm or something

of course, as i have stated before, and as even the GMs themselves have stated, GMs got a bigtime nerf when the STF was created. since that day, their power was cut in half. the only things they can really do anything about is for example, players using speed hacks. lets face it folks, the days of the GMs getting involved are over. this is a different day and age, a different breed, a different era.

Yeah and going the stf route is bad in other ways too. Like how it is completely disconnected from the players. A GM could talk to you and you could talk to them. STF makes some decision from on high and you can't talk to them or anyone that even knows what actually happened or why. They say you are a rmt without a shred of proof because it never happened? A customer rep tells you too bad so bad and forcibly disconnects chat on you.
