I'm just full of threads this morning ain't i? but ya...i have noticed a dramatic increase in AH pricing on ALOT of items...even the most common ones. ON Alexander the price of the average level 40 piece of armor runs from 20k-40k for HQ i can understand this but for a common piece of armor? come on! the prices go up for the higher level onces even more dramatically. now granted not every single item is skyrocketed in price. but most are. Spell scrolls are another major concern...the price of a Raise III scroll in AH is 700k-900k....WHAT...THE....HECK?! i remember when they were about 50-100k average in AH...and this was shortly after the mass RMT ban years ago. for a Protectra IV scroll 110k?! seriously...I am geninuely concerned here. if any GM views this thread can you please take a look at the recent pricing on all servers i am pretty sure i am not alone in this thought. anyone else agree?
EDIT: thanks for clearing up the air for me. i suppose the RMTs don't have control of ther AH after all. but you can't blame a lady for worring can ya?

This^.
Whm and Blm are also increasingly popular with Abyssea, so scrolls that are only obtainable off of NMs and mobs have dramatically risen in price to meet the rising demand.

um.... supply and demand... the "gotta have it now" factor....it all adds up.
I flat out REFUSED to pay the jacked up prices for the new spells when they first came out. 160~180k scrolls from the NPC's that drop from gold chests that spurred off a lotting fest when they hit the treasure pool. Eventually, as people started farming for AF and key items, the market got saturated and those scrolls quickly dropped to under 40k in the AH--some as low as 10k.
The problem (at least on my server) is the shortage of the scrolls. A friend needed one for BRD that was running 110k. I got the coins and shell to make the key for SSG ornamental door and we went and farmed it. Got it in less than an hour (with no TH) and also got a hanful of WHM scrolls. I put them up kinda cheap thinking they wouldn't sell for much because they had such a low sell rate--but people still forked over 40-100k each for them. Got him an extra 250k bonus. The problem wasn't that they were selling slow--it was that no one was putting them up for sell.
Watch the geodes on the AH. The price cycles up and down. ~17 breeze sell per day. When 24+ are up, the price dives to 1k. When <10 are up, it starts climbing. If it gets down to just a few up, it can go as high as 5k a pop.
Supply and Demand at work.

People I share a shell with regularly sell ninja scrolls for 700k plus so I think it's more to do with high demand and Gil being more available than RMT activity. I'm hunting for a few RDM spells off royal jelly as I don't fancy paying the auction house price for them!! The ninja scrolls will earn me a few Gil... If my ls let's me lot for them ;)

this is not RMT, as ppl mentioned earlier 2 things in the work here:
1- Gil is easier to obtain right now plus the lack of buy-able BiS gear than before abyssea(lots of very good equipments used to be avail. in AH).
2- Supply and Demand.

Raise 3 was also a fairly common drop from ENMs and the likes. People don't do these anymore, so it's much rarer.

RMT is pretty much history, stuff like IGE don't even sell gil anymore.
This was sadly more to do with how teh game changed with Abyssea than the "shut the f*** up" (STFU) but regardless RMT is pretty much dead, even the big HNNLS leaders that sold gil are gone...or stopped waiting for new HNM.

Raise 3 was over a million before SE changed it to drop from Kirin. That dropped the price to <50K fairly rapidly. Now, nobody does Kirin any more, so the supply has dried up and the price has climbed again.

This, combined with the fact that a LOT of players have lvld whm since Abyssea was released.

RMT don't control the AH, they barely even exist anymore. With a somewhat smaller playerbase, no free trial accounts to abuse, and RMT PWNER, there just isn't much money to be made anymore.
Raise III has always been expensive, there are times when it's been in the millions. It only drops from BCNMs that no one does anymore, Kirin, which no one does anymore, and the Quadav beastmen leader, who is probably milling around in the qulun dome right now. In short, it's expensive because you get it from stuff that isn't done much and isn't guaranteed to drop it.

They are right, it is supplay and damand.
when phalax opened up to PLD it was like 1k-10k scroll to 100k-200k and has not dropped
when abyssea opened up the raise of IV spells and AM shot up due to RDM getting acesss and the need to poc with AM and the fact that all those scrolls do not drop in abyssea so they went sky high.
same with raise III.
if it is not abyssea drop it prob shot up to hell.
Not greedy RMT. Just greedy people. x3

*sighs* maybe you're right. i was just worried that they might due to the price increase.

It's just people in general really, greed has nothing to do with it. As a crafter if the consumer is willing to pay a certain price why should I lower it? That price is the demand and if the demand wasn't there then the price would drop. It's just simple economics really, RMT are pretty much completely out of FFXI.

I love how your mind jumps to RMT(which have been pretty dead for what? 2 years now?) instead of going the route of common sense. Please, never stop posting.
