View Full Version : Please expand the Gobbiebox's picky palate before it wastes away

I am concerned the Gobbiebox is too skinny. It often eats just one meal a day, and it refuses nearly every offering.
Please observe this screenshot I took of Eastern Adoulin's Gobbiebox: http://www.palmerinutrition.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/skinny-cow.gif
It needs to put on some weight.
First, please let the Gobbiebox eat as much as it would like. Since the special dial is limited to one use per day, it is okay to let the Gobbiebox eat as much as it wants.
Second, please make the gobbiebox accept the following often-useless, very nutritious Rare items:
1. Mannequin parts
2. Abyssea NM spawn items
3. Damaged relic equipment
4. Sky god NM spawn items
5. Miratete's memoirs and other Rare EXP scrolls
I think that the Gobbiebox needs these Calories desperately so that it does not pass out from starvation. Please. With your February update, you can save a life.

I've never once traded anything to the box, other than gobbiedial keys, which let you do the special dial without daily tally. I must have thousands of daily tally points, I can't even imagine running out. So not really seeing the issue here. I don't erally know anyone who spends all day popping crappy potions and useless junk out of the box.

It's not as hard as you think to run out.

You only build tally from when you first talked to the goblin. If you first talked to him after it was updated, you could very easily have none. Just because you don't see an issue for your character doesn't mean other people don't.

I think Al just enjoys constantly tossing the items I mentioned in my post, or just never checks his flotsam.

I'd just like the gobbie to start giving me useful stuff again like he did when we got the keys every day. For the past couple of months I have not received one useful item from the gob. Abyssea pop items, relic -1 armor, copper ores, and pebbles (oh please more of these please!!!). I mean come on SE. If we are paying 50 tally points to open the box, there should be a low end to the crap we can get, and it shouldn't go as low as flint stones and hare meat. If we want that crap we can open the other dials for 10 points.
For what it's worth I've been getting crap from my mog garden lately too. It's discouraging after working hard to rank it up to max. When MMO content ceases to reward the player, the player moves on. Something to remember with a sub-based business model.

daily handouts aren't exactly content

But Mog garden is, so what point are you trying to make?

I agree, fix Monstrosity, that content would be fun if I didn't feel the need to actually generate long term rewards for my character, and it provides no incentive whatsoever.
Also yeah, I don't even bother with the goblin anymore, I ran out of daily tally and his rewards aren't worth the hassle of trading items.

I don't typically collect any of those things. Especially mannequin parts, as I would have no reason to do any of those fights that drop them. I don't do anything in sky therefore never get sky god pop items (and why would you get those just to trade to the gob?) -1s i immediately throw away unless i specifically want one,so that my inventory doesnt fill up in dynamis. EXP scrolls, okay, you got me there. Useless but can hardly avoid obtaining in dynamis.
I'm just surprised anyone cares about this. If you're really lucky you might get something neat out of the special dial (or the event dials when they do events). There's little other reason to use it other than getting trash to vendor for a little gil or free ammo if you dont care how crappy it is.

I'm not sure if you were playing when they spiced up what the special dial gives, Al, but since that update, I've received a pulse cell that I sold on the AH for 1.6M gil, ZNM trophy items from Experimental Lamia, Reacton, Dextrose, and Nuhn (I was working on Pandemonium Warden pops at this time!), an enhancing torque that would be woth 800-900M if anyone ever buys it (I gave up selling it for about a week and someone else sold theirs for 900K during that one week...), and other, smaller-but-worthwhile prizes like Skirmish parts, a less-valuable pulse cell, and spell scrolls. Sure, it's usually something less remarkable, but since the update, it's definitely worth checking out.
Flotsam, on the other hand, hasn't been so kind to me recently, other than level 99 JSE capes during special flotsam events. The market crashed on all flotsam items except savory shank, but I've given up ever getting that as flotsam again. Still, it's free stuff.

Oh, i know the special dial has good stuff in it. But you can use keys to open that past the once a day limit and those don't use daily tally. And particularly for someone like me who has been capped on accolades and wasting them a lot, the keys being sold for them was a nice thing.
