People keep telling me the same thing: /lockstyle
The system tells me "Style lock disabled." I even tried /lockstyle on, but that returns nothing at all.
I'm trying to keep the style of my legs and feet of the Empyrean gear for COR as well as keep my NIN in black, but I can't get it to work.
Advice?

If you change main, sub, ranged or ammo then lockstyle is disabled which I would imagine is common for COR and NIN.

Lockstyle isn't disabled when you change ammo.

I wasn't sure if that was the case but I thought NIN had been having issues with Daken disabling style lock?

If you swap between impatiens (quickcast ammo for recasting utsu+ninjitsu) and shurikens (tp phase), it breaks lockstyle :(

From what I've read, it seems to only break on ammo if the ammo itself is throwable.

People actually play nin?
People actually play nin?
I know it's crazy right? The one handed update made it so one handed jobs are actually good, go figure.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the development team currently has plans to implement an improved version of the /lockstyle feature. I will update when we hear more details.

Can you seriously look into allowing some kind of style lock for weapons as long as you keep it the same weapon type, I really miss the nice visual pulse+particle effects on voidwatch/legion/meebles era weapons.
It would also be a great way to make outdated content appealing for those of us that like to hunt down gear just for /lockstyle purpose.
Some of these weapons took a crazy amount of time/patience/luck to acquire and i'd really like to lockstyle them (e.g. /lockstyle my Borealis greatsword for the pretty glow+particle effect, and then switch to another greatsword without /lockstyle disabling the look of the Borealis)

Locks being remembered across zone, and locks for weapons being remembered when the weapon change is to one of the same type
I find the latter to be the most likely. However, screw those gaudy glow effects
EDIT: I guess a third option where you change weapons but it doesnt affect the lock on other gear is a possibility too

I agree and I would like this too. The reason they gave for the weapon slot /lockstyle off situation, is that all character have different appearances while using different weapon classes, and this makes sense. But if you are swapping an ugly high level GS for a swish stylish-looking low level GS on lockstyle, for example, that shouldn't affect the character graphic appearance, and so this should be possible. I hope they are going to allow same-class weapon lockstyles, that would be fun.

In the future update to /lockstyle, you will be able to lock weapons as well!
As long as it's the same weapon type, even if you swap it out the style lock will not go away.
We are planning to make it so only the lock is removed for weapons when you change the weapon type.

Nice! I hope that extends to instruments and throwing items!

This means that, as a player who almost exclusively plays back line jobs, I will still not be able to use style lock. Back line jobs generally need to swap between clubs and staves to take advantage of the unique effects available on specific weapons from each type. Restricting style lock to the use of a single weapon doesn't help back line jobs.
Would it be possible to make style lock completely all-encompassing until a character enters a combat stance? As I understand it, the only reason weapons are treated differently is the different attacking animations that are used for different weapons. If a character isn't attacking with their weapon, this is irrelevant. Upon entering a combat stance, the style lock could then revert to the system presented here. That would allow everyone to take advantage of style lock.

I'm really hoping that's the case and that as long as the gear it doesn't affect the animation it wont drop /lockstyle.

Mages still swap from club+shield to staff pretty frequently.
And instruments probably won't help, as Harp/Horn have different animations they'll probably swap, and yeah, Terp/Eminent/Daur/Gjaller is pretty much the swap of choice these days.
Though this is a step in the right direction, I'm not sure how often it will actually help.

This is a good improvement, but you should extend that for mage jobs so that if you're NOT engaged with the enemy, Stylelock remains even if you swap your weapon type.
Think about support/mage jobs who do not engage.
They do not incur under the issue of having different animations loaded up, and they often tend up to swap between club and staff for instance.
It would be highly beneficial if, when a character is not engaged, Style lock could cover even for situations when you change weapon type.

This is a wonderful idea and a wonderful compromise.

You can already lock instruments and bells. In fact, you can lock an empty slot and sing with Gjallarhorn or dance with Dunna.
Shield blocking is probably the only reason they won't let you fully lock outside of combat, and I'm guessing the "solution" is to add more similarly functioning gear across different types (like Mafic Cudgel + Genbu's Shield = Earth Staff).

I hope y'all have plans to keep the effect active across zones as well. It is pretty annoying having to re-lock style every time I enter a new area. For me that would be the priority on how to improve the lock style system.
