Or should I say, "Ever get told that you're not wanted?" lol...

People slipping.

I'm a capable COR and NIN. Extremely experienced, even. Do groups know that? No, but jeez...

I'm old school, and gearing your main job in terms of equipment and skills mean you were dedicated to that job. As a COR, I was actually asked to leave a group for someone who is a fresh Lv99 BRD. Talk about insulting.

Going to be one of those things where I'm going to fall behind now. Heck, I can even get the rest of my Isenbind Hearts to hit 90 Armageddon (although I have Wildfire unlocked as a permanent weaponskill with any gun).

Anywho...

Feels like the full story is missing. What happened that they asked you to leave, what content were you doing? Was it something you said/did/didn't have?

I feel like getting asked to leave from 1 party doesnt automatically mean you are going to fall behind. I get rejected from a lot of pug parties on my pup, but i still am about to finish my mythic, have full 119 gear and pretty much any item i want from current end game.

Alot of it is bandwagon crap where if your not x y z, you cant get into a group (rng / pld for AA groups, thf, sam mnk etc), if thats the case, make your own group and invite w/e jobs you want. I did a MB party for CP using just mages, no tanks, no brd, and it worked wonderfully. If your not afraid to break the mold, you might just have to (wo)man up and make your own groups.

Psh, you actually thought FFXI had more than 4 jobs?

In all seriousness, my mains were MNK and DNC when the cap was 75. I know the pain.

If you're still geared as you said in the "Give me Feedback" thread, then I'm not certain how you'd expect any differently. Follow the advice given there first before trying to get into group content. For instance, your work towards lvl 90 Armageddon is honestly wasted time at this point in the game. Focus on getting entry lvl ilvl gear, then work towards 119 pieces from more casual group content such as Skirmish and Wanted.

Most of the "neglect" is from me having no experience in certain content (AA Mithra), or very little experience in other things. I guess it goes back to skill > gear in the case of my COR vs that new BRD.

I don't know! I DO still get enjoyment from the game since there's a ton of other stuff I can do by myself as NIN; mostly Abyssea and lesser content.

A few hours ago from this comment was different, though. A few shouts were asking for NIN for Voidwatch, or COR that can DD well.

Traded my items to get the upgraded Artifact body for NIN. It's iLv109, but I'll also work to increase it. Then there's that Shigi katana I'm aiming for also.

Quite frankly the whole skill > only goes so far especially since they added the ilvl system. Any idiot freshly leveled brd with +song gear can throw up a couple of songs and serve the purpose. It's why people using mule brds with multiboxing a lot or even just log them on to prebuff for fights. But if they didn't have +song gear I don't care how skilled they are I wouldn't use them for anything because at that point Trust: Joachim would probably be better.

Similarly for cor if you don't have the roll rings and the applicable roll gear you aren't going to get invited. And a lot would expect you to able to DD to some extent between rolls so having good ws/shooting and possibly melee sets are required and if people see you with average ilvl below 115ish they will probably just say go away. It would be similar to back when 75 was the cap trying to do events at lvl 70 or even lower. It doesn't matter how skilled you are you are going to have a hard time getting people to accept you.

This is even more true of nin as DDing requires more good gear (largely because you wont even be able to hit stuff without high ilvl weapons) than buffing generally does and getting invited on nin is hard in the first place as it has just started to become good with DD with the ws/acc update and the new throwing jt. So chances are you wont get taken over another DD unless you are all 119 and not only that good 119 probably with some pieces of gear that drops from content it doesn't sound like you'd have a chance of being invited to yet.

Sounds like your ilvl is extremely low based on you just getting an ilvl 109 body. Thanks to RoE and the peacekeepers guild getting at least 117 is extremely easy. I know someone that hadn't played since right after they raised the cap to 99 and within a couple days he had all 117 gear just soloing random stuff on whm. So that's basically now the basic n00b minimum now. Having the ability to get your pages from RoE to ilvl 119 your af/relic armor makes that barely a step above that. So basically gear up with RoE, reforged, maybe some balyd equipment and some wkr stuff and then think of doing post soa stuff. Then do some easy stuff to get some better gear then do harder. It's basically what everyone more or less did who played the whole time and the design idea behind this vertical progression. Or alternatively maybe make some cash and shout for a merc run/get friends to carry you thru some content and just go straight to 119 gearing. If you can get some delve KIs you can farm plasm very slowly solo and work your way into getting that as well

Ppl still reject inexperienced player for BC? That's new. Most of the ppl that still needs BC are new/returning players that need paper. If pt gonna reject every inexperienced player then they won't have anyone to pt with.

Also if you don't tell them "I'm an inexperienced player", they wouldn't know. Just ask what you need to do/their strategy and that's all you need.

I think your pt just happened to want a BRD for w/e reason, nothing more and nothing less.

Well judging from his other posts, id have to assume this as well:

1) No ilevel weapon (cant contribute DD)
2) No corsair ring (its sellable on auction house)
3) No ilevel gear in a lot of slots. (affects your ilevel, aka acc/atk/ws dmg)

So if they are ditching a corsair for a bard it probably means the bard is full RoE gear, jse weapon, and sparks instruments (3 songs, +2 to all songs), which even if its a alt/mule/etc, is far more useful than a cor using an i90 weapon and trying to DD at range without ilevel gear.

Welcome to FFXI. That is indeed how most people roll. I'm fine with bringing people along who are in need as long as they can do their jobs, and most can, but many have a "not in my backyard" mentality. They're all for new and returning players getting caught up as long as it's in someone else's party.

I just pointed out the fact that there aren't enough experienced player to fill up a AA BC atm, especially if it's PUG going with 6. It's not the issue of whether you want to do it or not, you just have to accept them, or else you either need to /shout for 2hr or go with less than 6.

I'm fully aware of that, but there are many people out there with large egos and small minds who aren't going to accept a competent yet undergeared player even if it won't actually hinder their chances of winning. To put it more simply, the FFXI community is full of jerks and morons.
